  1. Yea, a guide for 2nd hand price is to start at 50% of new and take it from there. Buyers of new equipment can keep that in mind before parting with their money - half of what will be spend is gone.
  2. Best offer I got for my super6 like that was R29k. Build was full Di2 dura ace, zipp bar & stem, hollowgram sisl crank with srm wired power meter included, reynold dv46t wheels, aksium training wheels. I agree with Tank, R30k to R35k is realistic.
  3. Will it be so much better after conversion? I know it sounds extreme, but I have done several multi stage events on 26" wheels, it can be done ;-)
  4. I got an email a couple of weeks ago stating that everybody doing the Dusi2c this year will get first preference on Sani entries for 2014. That means there will be less spots open in 2014.
  5. It could easily be the other way around, too - his jump to suddenly be a GC contender in 2011, plus strong riding from the whole Europcar team is perhaps too good to be true.
  6. How did this topic sound gather the Lance fanboys? Im not an Ulrich fan, but imo he is was one of those freaks of nature - the Eddy Merkx of his generation. However, I think he was almost too talented, and got results too easy early on. This made him complacent, perhaps even lazy. He could have won more, but he came up against the ultimate doper, who had bought exclusive access to the wolds best doping expert, for his whole team. He was the equivalent of a soldier who is the best marksman, armed with a pistol, fighting a group of soldiers armed with machine guns. The playing field was not level. I think Ferrari was LOL when watching the TDF at Fuentes. Ferrati had a good rider and he beat Fuentes every time, who had one of the best ever.
  7. Look for non dopers outside the to 100 or so.
  8. Geepers, as if swimming with sharks is not risky enough!
  9. The C24s are the best of the 3. In the link I posted before, they took 23.5 watt to turn at 50km/h, which is better than the Mavic of Fulcrum contenders with low profiles. Almost 10 watt less than the Ksyrium ES, which is a lot. Best looking of the 3 imo - I have a set myself.
  10. Fulcrum racing 1. These are made by Campy, I would guess it is the equivalent of Eurus. If so, it would have Record hubs, which are superb. (better than Mavic hubs imo) Also, look at these aero tests of older wheels, the Campy wheels have less drag than Mavic. The Eurus in the test took 27.8 watt to turn at 50km/h, while the Ksyrium ES took 33.2 watt. http:// http://www.rouesartisanales.com/article-15505311.html
  11. It would be possible to anodize the inside of a tube - the electrolisis is done in a bath, if the electrolyte can reach it would take. But I have not seen it done on the inside of a frame, Im not sure why it is not done. If I had to guess it would be something to do with the welds. The welds on alu frames are not full penetration welds on the frames I have seen, tubes are just butt welded. Perhaps electrolyte will get trapped inside the frame and behind the welds, and be difficult to wash out completely, which will make a mess of the insides if the welds over time?
  12. King hubs on Enve rims sounds great. I have my doubts about carbon rims and rocky bumps, but I have not heard of any failures.
  13. Anodize would be more resistant to galvanic corrosion, but the carbon wont bond well on it. Dont use alu with carbon where water or sweat can get trapped. It wont be a problem if you never get the bike wet. Ti wont corrode, but Ti posts end to be extremely expensive, and not light enough for the money imo. Alu frame, go with a well made anodized alu post, and remove it once in a while, or after a wet ride.
  14. Good question. Some superlight Enve or Spaz wheels mentioned are XC/marathon type wheels, and would go well on a HT, Scalpel or Epic. How about some Chris King hubs in a flash colour, strong spokes and AM ZTRs?
  15. If that is correct, the whole suspension thing in mtb an motocross was a hoax like powerbalance. The suspension provides comfort and control. Most folks ride routes where suspension is not needed for control - but jou dont see many DH rigs without suspension. Regarding comfort, suspension helps, but you dont need 100mm of travel for that. Some comments: Handlebars dont flex much. If the did, you would get a lot of steering lag. Things like grips and saddle will help take some high frequency buzz out, but wont help any for lower frequency hits of even a minor amplitude - riding down stairs for example. To have damping, you need displacement or travel. Frames and forks do not deform much (less than tyres, saddle etc. in any case) so damping from a frame or rigid fork will be much less than a suspension fork.
  16. Pantani also never tested positive, but he was prevented from riding on in one Giro ( think it was 99) because his hematocrit was above 50. But I dont doubt that he was on epo like most.
  17. Compare our road events to those in Europe. Compare our mtb events. Conclusion: mtb is the right way to go.
  18. Start at 20k, decide how low you are willing to go. Aroud 15k probably realistic
  19. If it is on a weld, there is a chance that a proper weld will last, as long as they dont try to pre-heat the frame too hot. Most bike aluminiums are precipitation hardened, to give it strength. If it is given too muchheat the precipitates gets messed up (a metallugist could explain why) Try a good engineering shop with somebody that has alu welding experience.
  20. Cant fix an alu frame by welding it, it will crack again at or close to the weld.
  21. Philander was arguably our best bowler on the England tour, because he moves the ball both ways and just enough to get the edge. He has enormous control on line and length. If there is no movement, he becomes ineffective, like what happened in the first test in Aus. They now use a new ball from both ends, and in England it swings. He also bats well, imo he would be a better option for this tournament than Kleinveld in every aspect. Team I would like to see: Faf, Amla, Duminy, Miller, AB, Peterson, McLaren, Philander, Steyn, Morkel. This leaves a spot open for either a batsmen or a bowler. List of canditates are Kallis, A Morkel, De Kock, Tsotsobe, Tahir, Ingram, Morris.
  22. The attack that took us to #1 in tests: Steyn, Philander, Morkel, Kallis, plus a spinner. The second string bowlers were toothless today. Steyn and Morkel injuries hurt us. Why no Philander? Why Kleinveld ahead of Morris? Some positives: McLaren put up his hand for the allrounder slot. JPD bowled well. Lastly, I dont rate Ingram - he needs to lift his game a level.
  23. Im not a Conto hater. I admired him for demolishing LA in 2009, while under extreme pressure. However, only a fool would think he was not on the same blood doping program as all the other riders were under Bruneel. Imo he got bust for trace elements of stuff he took in training, that was left in his blood bag - like Landis he got bust after leaving the Bruneel dope machine - the new doctors were not as good
  24. P5 = best looking TT machine imo. Interesting that they have not gone for the stem level with the top tube.
  25. On the same dope as LA, he was transformed into a machine. Riding clean, he is a good climber and average TT rider, like Basso, for example. The TT performances of Sky is suspect, imo. Big jump in TT performance for anybody leaves a question mark. Big jump in TT performance of a whole team? History repeating itself?
