  1. From news24: "His biological passport, which analyses the athlete's blood profile, indicated suspicious activity and that triggered a targeted test for EPO."Galant said EPO testing had a window period of between six and 12 hours, as that was the length of time during which it would show up in a test." If the passport and out of competition testing is the only way to catch epo dopers (6 -12 hours is a small window), how many other dopers are riding in SA? Also, if DG was doped to the gills, how did KE keep up with him? Or is DG just a bit low on VO2max, and needed epo to keep up?
  2. @ Buzzman My recommendation for mild(very relative!) creamy would be: Vivalto lungo or Roma. The Vivalto lungo is the weakest of the 3, but flavourful and smooth. The Roma is stronger, but very versitile imo, works well in cuppachinos, lattes, americanos, one of my favourites. Also consider Rosabaya, it is in between these 2 in strength, perhaps not so creamy, but makes a super nice cup.
  3. I'm out, sorry guys & girls My sport pass for Saturday just got curtailed, I'll have to make do with a 60 min run from 5 to 6 for training tomorrow.
  4. Imo the ex-Barloworld riders now with Sky probably were not clean in the past. The dope stash found in Duenas' hotel room in 2008 was enough for the whole team for the tdf.
  5. At steady pace, HR and power should roughly follow one another. If they dont, it may be that the hrm is not measuring correctly. If the hrm is measuring right, I suggest you go see a cardiologist to understand the implications of the wild HR on your cycling.
  6. Does not look epic.
  7. I think some sponsors want the exposure, but are not that clued up about racing. They got a rapid education, I expect a bit of a shake-up in pro cycling. The European economy is under pressure, and there are other sports that are less scandal prone. (not less doped, though, imo)
  8. The prices that some 2nd hand stuff is advertised for on here is even more out of touch, imo.
  9. Testing is there so that sponsors kan think the riders don't cheat.
  10. LA cant go to CAS, because he has chosen not to go to arbitration. Proceedings are complete, unless Wada wants to challenge usada. I cant see why they would, though.
  11. Agree with jcza, UCI should shoulder more of the blame than LA. They are there to prevent this from happening, and they could have done something earlier, but they decided it is better for the sport and their bank accounts to let dopers win big and couver it up, rather than to expose an ban them. Thorough blood profiles can prevent performance enhancement in whatever way, but the profiles currently serve to give investors confidence, not to detect cheating. Imo money talks, the only way teams and the UCI will start cleaning up the sport is when money leaves their pockets. Perhaps the IOC should drop cycling from their list as well.
  12. I disagree that the whole peleton was dirty. There were clean guys, but they were driven from the sport by the rest, some by Armstrong himself.
  13. For me a 32x32 was fine the last time I rode it, its not as steep as Sabie climbs. I may need a ligter gear this time though, I was in better shape then. (I have not ridden my bike for 2 months, sadly) Im wondering if im cool enough to ride along, my mtb is a 26 with a tripple, have not even considered changing it. ;-)
  14. Ive seen a ti stem a mtb race the other day, on a ti bike. It also had ti bars and seatpost. I wont risk my front teeth on a ti stem, though. Ti welds are insanely difficult to get right, and a stem has a lot of weld material vs. base material. Agree with all the comments that stem material makes absolutely no difference to ride feel. Carbon stems exist because customers are carbon crazy and are prepared to pay a lot for them. Imo the stem is the wrong place to save 20 grams. Alu with 4 steel bolts is the way to go.
  15. I agree, at least now everybody can see how bad he is. The nice guy image was just for the money. His option for a political career is now down the drain. There were guys like him before in politics, most recent one was called Adolf......
  16. Im a week too early. Weather may be better, but 2 weeks to wait then :-(
  17. Heavy rain predicted for Saturday :-/ Hope the prediction is off by a day or 2.

    69"

Not if you plan to ride steep climbs. A big front wheel and smaller rear makes the bike lean back on climps. If the going gets steep and slow, the front will be low on traction and also lift easily. Rather try fit two 27.5" wheels.
  19. Another point to ponder: Lance retired, but the rest of the staff, Bruneel and the doctors, stayed the same. Are we to believe that methods of traing and other things were different, when Contador, Cancellara, Voigt and the Schlecks raced for them?
  20. Jan Ulrich never tested positive at the TDF. It was only in 2005 that a Puerto blood bag was suspected to contain his blood, same with Basso. There is no proof or testimonies that they doped before 2005. Imo there is no option but to move the title to the next rider in line who have not tested positive during that race or admitted to doping. Else all Contador's wins must also be stripped because he tested positive in 2010.
  21. Hmmm, I feel sorry for them. The LA PR machine an fan club will now go into overdrive to tarnish them. LA have tried to destroy the careers of everybody who spoke against him. He now has more names on his black list: " Frankie Andreu, Michael Barry, Tom Danielson, Tyler Hamilton, George Hincapie, Floyd Landis, Levi Leipheimer, Stephen Swart, Christian Vande Velde, Jonathan Vaughters and David Zabriskie were part of a 26-strong group that gave written testimonies."
  22. CAAD10. Wish I had one. The frame weighs less than a Pinarello Dogma by a gram or 2. Stock wheels on the Caad10 you posted are bottom end, though. Ive got a set and they are not nice, weigh in over 2kgs, which is more than my mtb wheels! Perhaps you could negotiate a wheel upgrade with the shop for Ultegra or Dura Ace wheels.
  23. Read the user reviews under the article.
  24. Yea, D/L has no place in t20. I wonder how many t20 innings it predicts correctly after 5 and 10 overs. It was developed for 50 overs, before powerplays, so I would guess it is inaccurate for t20. That said, it seems to advantage the side batting second, mostly. That would be completely wrong for this type of pitch, that gets more difficult as the game goes along.
