  1. Saw him on Pintrest, knocked him together with a few scraps and offcuts that were lying around, my youngest thinks he's cool!
  2. Or change the order to red, yellow, blue (not green) Citi Golf style
  3. I have a set of Fiemme (Fiamme?) Red Label tubular rims with Campag hubs (rear hub needs a lock ring) that you may convince me to part with.
  4. A few touch ups required, but otherwise done, now junior wants a matching bedside table...
  5. I look at the pile of off cuts and rejects in the corner of our factory and wish I had the time to build stuff with it. Maybe one day, when I retire...
  6. Finished, got an order for 10 more... Unfortunately not a paying customer, but rather for our entertainment area at our new factory!
  7. . Edit double post
  8. Put 2 of these together in the week as a thank you to one of our service providers. Made entirely from off cut Meranti strips that we laminated. A bit of sanding to do in the morning, and then Woodoc. Should have made one for myself while we were at it...
  9. It was the teak top that stood out, the color is really nice. Again, beautiful work, well done!
  10. But did he teach him to fish...?
  11. Beautiful work, what did you use for the tops?
  12. Ply Master in Benoni should be able to help - 0114221729
  13. Nothing wrong with ply per se, the quality of the locally available ply is not great. As with hardwood, if you're willing to pay, you can get some really nice ply. Here I'm using standard BC grade 16mm.
  14. And if the quality of the ply you are working with is good. You also need to take time to finish it properly.
  15. My latest work in progress, chest of drawers for my youngest, though not sure I should post it here, it's plywood...
  16. Was wondering the same thing, it's 0.444in.
  17. 8500N, so harder than Rosewood. Remember too, these are averages, there are many factors that influence the hardness. The test is done by pressing an 11.28mm steel ball into the wood to half the balls diameter and measuring the force required to do so.
  18. Cause it's about 370N harder than Radiata Pine on the Janka scale and we do not know proper hardwood here in SA [emoji12] For comparison purposes, from soft to hard: Cuipo- 98N Balsa - 440N Radiata Pine - 3200N Dark Red Meranti - 3570N African Mahogany - 3700N Cherry - 4430N Teak - 5140N Iroko - 5600N Red Oak - 5700N Rosewood - 7900N Ebony - 14300N Australian Buloke - 22500N So, in the greater scheme of things, Meranti pretty soft. Timber City here in town refers people to us to cut Rosewood, they refuse to cut it as it blunts their blades...
  19. The Iroko we have is 76 x 200 x 4000, so size is not suitable, have red oak in 38mm and white oak in 50mm. Demand for hardwoods isn't what it used to be, people don't want to pay for it, so we buy it in on special order. Meranti, I can help with 50 x 304 boards that I can cut for you.
  20. What do you classify as heavy? Off the shelf I can probably assist with Meranti, may have some Oak in the required size, have Iroko in stock but not sure of the width. Will check in the am.
  21. We did the same thing on Saturday, got to where the weedeater ran out of petrol and had to bushwhack back to the path! [emoji15]
  22. Petini was Linden Cycles' brand, the name came from the owner's names, Pete and Jonene. Frames were built by Duncan McIntyre. The artwork for the branding was done by the previous owner of your Ragley [emoji6]
  23. Nerd was at work, this was Flippa, brother of Nerd... [emoji12]
  24. I stand to be corrected, but I think they came out of the same factory as Alpina, in the backend if Booysens.
