This thread started on a constructive, mature level and went downhill very fast. Oh wait a minute, it's the hub, what did we expect.

that's why "robo" is the right name... dude, apply common sense, not "standards". Stop a red light, because you don't want to be run over and appear to be a cyclist thinking special laws apply to him. Yield at green, because people make mistakes and you on your bike will come last if someone drives through the red robot, despite yours being green.

Yeah, it's funny - I used to cycle to school, 20kms everyday and in 10 years never had to replace a drive train on any bikes - and the started cycling as a hobby and am being told that chains don't last...

Gee reading about this aggression between roadies and car drivers in Gauteng, I am seriously worried about coming to Joburg in November for the 94.7 Is everybody up there so stressed? Maybe I should rather stay in my village where cars greet bikes greet mountain bikes greet runners, then we swap roles and do the same.... Yeah Karma, you see I just don't get why you didn't just drive past, wind down your window, say "morning guys, cool day hey?" and start your day on a positive note rather than bitching like a 5 year old? Flip, I don't care if you ride a road bike mountain bike or grandmother, as long as it makes you happy - we're cyclists that's it. I wonder if marathon runners hate cross country runners and tennis players hate squash players as much as we hate each other. I prefer using my energy for riding rather than moaning. You know I love you!

You can have my old Holdfast rack with individual arms and straps hooks. It's hanging in my garage since I now use a towbar version. Pity you're in joburg - you could have come and tried it. It's yours. :-)

took my 2 and a half year old boy in the trailer again - he now cheers me up on the uphills. "yeeaaah daddy, made it" Man, it is the best think ever. forget about tubeless/tube discussions and the best Epic training prep programmes - it's these things that make riding amazing.

it's a bit like discussing why we use car with aircon while we could wind down the windows or use mp3 while a cassette player worked perfectly fine or why we use email when fax was awesomely reliable... gee, I could come up with countless of examples now... ;.)

oh no, rc planes and cycling - those must be the most expensive hobbies to have. at least in my case (lack of talent crashing my planes, lack of legs leading to upgrades that certainly will make me faster....)
