Yesterday i was quoted R150 to box my bike - I said, naaaa, can do that myself. So here I went, proud as I am - had to buy a role of duct tape R 50, didn't have bubble wrap (and Builders only sell boxes for R 100), get the box into my car, drive back and fourth etc.plus spend an hour in my garage.... should have just gone with it... nothing's for free and I do understand that LBS try and get their money back - they should also have just told you in advance though.

Forgot my socks on a MTB weekend away the other day. Rode in my Woolies black office socks. Made absolutely no difference to my riding, my level of comfort or endurance.

we once had two office hamsters (as in hamster in the office). Micro and Soft. One got lost, can't remember which one.

There is no risk of tires exploding. Luggage compartment is as pressurized as passenger compartment. Else all exploding deodorants bottles, dogs and cats and other things pressure-sensitive would have brought down many planes... #mythbuster

my car did 45000 Kms last year, my bike about 1000. so I guess the ratio is about right.

my road bike is worth about the costs for my towbar and Thule carrier.

But StevieL, if you'd make the effort to compare prices after you had spent, surely you'd come to the conclusion that you should have done your homework first?!

about time to get some sort of legislation regarding old unroadworthy cars going. And no, just because we have doubt who is going to police it, it can't mean we shouldn't have the law. else we'd be legalizing rape too. regular check are needed - as one of the many steps - to make roads safer. Think about it: SA, 40 million people, 10 million cars, speed limit 120km/h, 11000 people killed every year. Germany, 80 million people, 40 million cars, no speed limit, 4000 people killed every year.

would love to help - but at my current level of cycling a pair of sock is not going to make much of a difference in my case... :-(
