  1. Hi, I am lucky in that i have both HT & FS 29r, also am 100kgs on a bad day. for long rides go for the FS as it will save your body. but for XCO and having fun( SS) get a HT they both are great but any HT for longer than 50km is going to hurt. If it comes down to one bike go for the FS as most have pro pedal these days which helps My 2 cents
  2. Hi, You have 2 of the most experienced comm,s making a decision on race saftey. it is not so much about riders riding in the rain but more to do with if help can get to them if something happens? At this years National DH in PMB the final round was cancelled because the medic,s could not get to the top half of the hill. It is very easy to sit at home and make comments when you are not there. If something bad did happen? then what a post about why they did not stop the race? The rules will always err on the safe side of racing.
  3. what i can not understand is this: 1, You caused **** and are acussed for making a mess things 2. like all of the board members do nothing, take the money and the free flights. 3.resign and think you are in the right when you are part of the problem for doing nothing 4, try and get the cyclists on your side by quoting saftey bull***t 5. Get your brother to have a rant and cause *** 6. try and take over CSA and then when found out do a runner. 7. with regard to fraud live in a glass house and throw stones Funny how it all starts just before voting season, but thats the way to do it do nothing or make a mess of things for 2 yrs and say you were trying to look after the interests of cycling!!!! and people are defending these clowns Makes me laugh or cry
  4. It is about a email that was sent from an ex CEO. I thought it was one of those joke letters that go around, stop smoking the weed CL
  5. Hi I have riden the bike it works, enough said!!
  6. What bike is he riding from that angle the wheel looks like a 26"? compared to Carl,s bike
  7. Dangle i bow to your widom and the fact that you know me!!!
  8. Charges were laid but it was decided that it would be better to get the money back than just writing it off, as for the interest i can nor answer that one. CSA had nothing to do with it, as people in glass houses can not throw stones!!!!
  9. Hello, I have been using my Garmin edge 500 for over a year now and it is great. The problem is that i am using the plastic HR strap and my heart rate readings during a ride change by at least 30 beats. When the strap is sitting nice just under my man boobs i get a low reading, if i move it 5mm lower then i have a higher reading which does seem closer to the real HR. I have been using gel to help but still it depends were the strap sits? I never had this problem with my polar? and i know going to the preinum strap might help? but want to make sure before spending 800 bucks Any suggestions?
  10. If you read the report on the SA champs in PE on the CSA web site HL was at the top of the blame game along with others it takes time to read both reports but it is good for a laugh. ( he also gets paid a retainer from CSA!!!) remember that the CEO that caused all of the problems 5 mil lost on the TOA, 700K BMX world champs and 1 mil on the MTB world champs plus court cases and lost sponsership left and joined the TOA team plus all of the other MANFIN members that have had hands in the problems along with conflict of interest by some members (DB) As members it is up to you to make sure that these people are not voted in at the next congress in Febuary, force your clubs to make the changes not at provincial level because these people are trying to make changes at the bottom and do it for nothing. And for the cape town riders remember that it is PPA that is screwing up riding in the rest of the country because they do not want to be a part of moving cycling forward Naplam. Gail my have taken the money but is paying it back so no more with the swimming pool comments. Ask other provincil bodies how much they have lost along with CSA present and past members!!! Rant off
  11. There was a Scott demo day last weekend at Thaba trails. It was wet soo not many people came so plenty time to try out the new 29rs Ht expert(carbon) with XT, verrrrry nice bike and well price +/- 22K
  12. I was told that the bikes will only be in SA in December Santa had best be good to me this year!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. Thats wher it is going first i was told. I wonder if i can become the test rider???
  14. Hi, i rode both the HT and DS at the scott demo day this last weekend both bikes were medium. the DS did feel a bit small and with the lockout locking every thing it did not work for me. BUT the HT was fantastic as it is the first 29r that felt and handled just like a 26" bike. It was the carbon expert with full XT and for once i found myself flying up the hills and was just as good going down. For me the med would be good for XC but would need a Large for the longer distances. Remember the bigger wheels makes the bike feel different at first , but after a few rides you will not notice. Also 29r are not for everyone, for me it works
  15. it was on the west rand But its no use going there as it has gone for testing at the magazines
  16. Only had time for a short tarmac ride, buti have been riding 29r for the last 5 years before all of the knobs got on baord the set up is nice the bike was a large which was spot on though it did have a -15 stem which i would change to a -5 to lift me up. my Gary Fisher is a med so this had a more streched out cockpit for racing. I was told that you can change the head angle by moving a spacer Nice kit Crank OEM XO XTR Rd XT shifters Avid 9 brakes Sun ringle hubs on ZTR Arch lefte with remote loclout Monach rear shock ( would swop for RP3) WT 11.5kgs but did not feel this heavy. it was well weighted ( some bikes are heavey front or rear) Price R53,500 which means they are charging a preminum on the overseas pricing!!!!! Still going to buy one
  17. Well i have just riden the 2012 Scalpel 29r. very nice ride!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now i have to find 53K though!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Could sell the wife, but is is like part of the family
  18. Hi, I brought a training program from fittrack for the Sani2c and it worked well for me. now i want to use it again for next years race, but it does not want to open again. Does this mean that i have to buy a new program? Seems strange that i brought the program and would think that i could use it again. Anybody know what to do to restart the program again??? Thks
  19. Hi, the act has been in place for some time now. KZN Cycling has been tasked with amending it just for cycling as they have someone that does that. It was put in place after there was problems at one of the football matches. It is quite involved and not one race as far as i know has not complied with the act because of what is involved. The big thing is that the police can come and shut down any race if they want too!!!
  20. Hi Quick tip that i found out this year, You only need a full license if you want UCI points in Jnr,U23,Elite!!!! which is about 50 cyclists in SA!!!!! Hoping to have more info soon
  21. Well done to grant and team for bring the world champs to south Africa next Year
  22. Well Done to Dangle and team for getting this going. Dangle i will come and see you about donating from CGC budget. BUT i must say the best HIJACK of the year must go to Alex and Eban for the West Rand cycles shirt inside of cyclelab!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Put a big smile on my face
  23. Hi, battery went on my 305 so i went to Garmin and they upgraded me to the 500 for +/- R850 Cadence and Hr work with the 500. Used it for my training for Sani2c and for the race, did whole race with out charging the unit 14hrs riding (forgot charger) uploading data is so much quicker and you can have more views with the 3 windows GO UPGRADE NOW you will not regret it
  24. Hi, Just to put you on the right track, CGC has been involved for the last 4 years and sponsored the series medals for the last 3 years and has helped with the growth of it. We also offered to help again this year but this was turned down as it is now being run by Atomic which is a privately run organizer. From a CSA point of veiw they would like to see it run on a national base around the country and are looking at ways to do this as some provances can not afford this. As for clubs, well what do they offer!!!!!
