  1. I'm all for that. Good on you, I applaud you giving it a tonk. What are your next moves? To answer you question. My addition to the pot was that on the weekend I directed a patrol car after a merc' driving at 20kms an hour, swerving all over the place through Newlands (after the rugby) and had to confiscate a friends keys who thought it was acceptable to drink shooters and beer through the rugger and still want to drive home to his pregnant wife and 2 year old kid. That got the guy aggressive and he took a swing at me. He thanked me the next day. I also ferried 4 mates to the pub and was a designated driver for the evening but that nearly didn't make much difference when guy drove straight through as set of lights in Constantia and took out the car in from front of me and nosed another car. I'm a witness in that case, unfortunately my passengers who were a little worse for wear won't make compelling statements!
  2. If you're putting in a request about the taxi's, please put in a note about the Southern suburb moms and dads who run red lights as a matter of course. I know it's not their fault, they're distracted, they are doing something very important and it's hard to chat on your phone while obeying traffic signals.
  3. Hey did anyone taken the Scott guy up on his 'email me for our side of the story' post? If you did, post it up here....
  4. Apparently Brailsford has chipped in by saying that no team has been announced for the TdF and no one but him picks the team. Not exactly sure the line up is going to be changing though.
  5. Just been in Olympic cycles and apparently they are having a big sale tomorrow on all things Spez. Bikes to helmets to gloves, in fact anything with a big 'S' gets a big discount. Just thought I'd share it about.
  6. Apart from the fact was that Froome was there to support Wiggins, the team leader. Froome wasn't the leader so it wasn't his tour to win. You take a pay cheque and you do the job that you signed on for. That is the point of super domestiques they mostly can win the races themselves on other teams. Sanchez to Cadel, Rodgers to Contador even Porte / Uran to Froome. He was supposed to protect Wiggins in the mountains, that was his job. Do you hear Renshaw b*tching about leading out Cav' if he thinks he's feeling good that day and can take the sprint himself? Froome is obviously clinical about his ambitions, getting there and getting rid of threats. He was never going to let wiggins back in to his team. All the races this year have been without him, the public recon' of the stages without him, training camps without him and the various responses through the media to Twiggys comments slapped each one down in the nicest way. Then a book release where he 'had' to cover the issues from 2012 and release it in the run up to the tour....
  7. A poll on velonews.
  8. Apparently Mr Tinkov would be keen to chat to the hipster as he's got his cheque book out and recent reports have him saying that there is no cash ceiling to ramping up his team and 'wants to be no1'.
  9. Wasn't a surprise after Froomes book, the history etc. Big call from Brailsford, Let tour starting in UK, possibility of 2 british formers winners on a british team. The marketing guys @ sky and team sky must be livid. Who knows what the real reason is but you know that Dave B would have called it on the numbers, form and Froomes say. After his book release which basically slotted any love-in between him and Twiggy it's not a massive surprise. I think they missed a trick. Wiggins is in good form, would have probably taken a stage and after the tour of cali Froome would have had a big engine, helper for the cobbles and a team member that can ride hard tempo for a sustained period and a plan B if something goes wrong. Is Porte in any frame to be a plan B at the moment? Is Wiggins better than the other options? what next for Wiggins? Stay or go?
  10. Double boast... story here
  11. Just wanted to share a good warm and fuzzy story from the hub and say thanks. Yup there are the usual rants and raves about... well everything that usually descends into a discussion about cars vs riders, lycra baggies, road vs dirt, 26er vs 29ers or ganging up on 650b'ers. I posted on a sponsors what-do-you-want-on-sale ad for gloves the other day and not much came back. Out of the blue I was contacted by a hubber who I've never talked to, never met but had deffo seen around, telling me about the DaKine sale at the Billabong factory store in Jozi... I'd seen it mentioned but much like the ASG sale, I'd love to have been throwing coin that way but I'm down here in the cape. end of story. Move on. Boom, with out a hesitation the legend says no worries, he's popping over the and will grab as many pair as he can, what's my size? True to his word I get a mail, with shots and which ones do I fancy as they are crazy prices. At that discount, I'm taking them all... If I don't use them granny can have an nice b/day present next month! The price? What's on the labels my man and not a cent more. I'll not mention who it is else you'll all be queuing up for a package in the mail! Seriously though, I thought that was awesome. There are the big things that everyone gets behind (replacing stolen kit, anything to do with Wayne P, anything to do with FRAIL, trail building etc) but just someone doing what I'd do 100% for a mate out of the blue, without prompting, was pretty darn cool... Cheers mate, goodonya. Anything I can do back just shout.
  12. Hope it doesn't come across as much as a whiney moan as the the extracts have been. I'd like to like the guy but all you ever hear about is this thing about twiggy, that thing about twiggy, blah, blah. Let us know if it's a good read and not a trot through his career to date.
  13. Slx brakes and rotors off one hubber... Ispec shifters of another. Keeping it in house. http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p4pb7529275/p4pb7529275.jpg
  14. just gin junkies and opium fiends...
  15. I straight out sucked (actually my riders sucked) last year. I'll be in again after just missing out on a podium spot on the Giro comp.

fast..... and like you stole all of them, usually with the mrs in the back seat and the bike up front wrapped in finest sheep skin.
  17. Now that is finally something of use here.... what wheel size is he riding?!?
  18. I threw up a comment yesterday, only come back today to see what was going on. Must have been my 26'r that that took me so long to get back... Oddly not much has changed.
  19. Yeah, had so many options when I had the 40. Now I have the 50, I pretty much use the std rubber mount on my road bike and just carry it in my jersey out on the trails. No idea why they stuffed about with the 50 mounting, it's the only one that doesn't take a garmin-type twist to fit.
  20. Ohhhh.... i like that one more. Wonder if I can get my deposit back from the other guy? Bargains galore people.
  21. Brailsford has said that they wouldn't let Wiggins go as he's more than rider when it comes to the profile of the team in the UK, Sky marketing and PR. Realistically from a marketing angle he's head an shoulders above the rest to the team (Froome included). He's a big draw card in Europe and the french love him (that's pretty rare for a brit). He's got track ambitions which may suit Sky, as might an attack on the hour. Both which would create a major publicity buzz in UK and Europe. Another option would be a big focus on the cobbled classics next year (and the US, he did better than expected in PR. It was pretty obvious once he'd made the cut in the last 20kms he was looking to consolidate a good position rather than try to go for the win and possibly lose. Next year who knows. He does seem an bit of a pain in the arse and over emotional but then Froome is not holding back with his version of events, especially so close to the TdF and in print. I'm kind of sick of listening to their petty fights and 'i wasn't respected enough' blah, blah. Wiggins has a hell of a results sheet and all anyone focuses on if he had a spat with Froome. Froome has a long career ahead and many races to win and will come up against difficult people and personalities, I don't want to hear about each one of them through twitter, tell all stories etc. I guess it depends on if he can get over the very public snub that seems to have come out from Froome on this years TdF team. They managed to not see each other for 99% of the year as it is anyway so it might work. Any other team would need to have a hell of a plan in place and a budget to let him pursue a wide range of goals rather then throw him into the usual mill of stage races with a build up to a GC.
  22. Great vid' and nice filming. Cool drifting @ 1:35 odd.

Heaps of those town to town trails around, just do some searching around and you'll have a route that links place to place in no time. I've always gone with camper vans. In fact I honeymooned on the Sth island and it was awesome as you can pretty much park up and sleep anywhere and it's fine. No one will hassle you and no one minds. Hell there are great camp sites but a lot of the pubs have electrical hook-ups in the car park so you can have a few Speights, wander to your van and have a kip / have a cook up / start a party.
  24. Was it on a wide open fire roads, district roads and jeep track for 130kms with no corners while using rubber that is closer to road racing slicks than off road tyres and dressed in lycra? Might not have been the bike. (throws in a match... and leaves quick singing 'is it friday already'? )
  25. Don't be so sceptical. It's still for sale on there. Maybe the geezer moved back from somewhere in the uk to jozi shore and it's still for sale. Because no one in the UK wants a Bronson. It could happen. I called dibs and I'm sending him my bank details now.
