  1. Have you thought about American Classic All Mtn or Fulcrum Red Metals? Both are pretty sturdy and get great reviews. I guess it goes down to what kind of riding you're going for and work back from there.
  2. just a bit of the red. Moved office to Plett for the last 2 weeks, weather has been off the hook and the riding has been great. Heading back to CT Sat before the summer like weather comes to an end.
  3. Been riding around Harkerville etc for the last 2 weeks and it's been unbeliveably beautiful weather. Just got back from a red run and have a nice bit of sun burn. Can't believe it's all going to the wall tomorrow... ah well. Back to Cape Town on Sunday anyway.
  4. Was there a pedal attached to the crank set and if so what kind... that'd suck trying to find one arm and one pedal.
  5. sweet looking shades... and I don't normally like Oakleys.
  6. Crazy and sad. Glad you're okay. Truth is that we are easy targets, it take a few seconds on a empty road or track for some one to relieve us of our rides. I wish I knew what the answer was. I'm not going all gung-ho 'take up arms' here but the fact is that the crims know we are soft targets. We're constantly told to give everything away when accosted as nothing material is worth it and it's not, but having had discussions with people in the townships they know that fact and it's a pretty simple equation for them. As is coming back 3 months later after a crowbar-ing cos by that time everything they took has been replaced by the insurance claim. I tend to ride road in 2 or more (not consciously for safety) and on the front of the mtn I tend to ride alone (kinda stupid). I do ride with pepper spray but have never had an incident or felt concerned but it's happening here alot. SAPS has to target where these stolen bikes are going to to and who is making the demand for such things. That BMC is weapon, where do they shift that, even if it's stripped down. If you dry up demand or make the act of gaining them less attractive (effective tracking maybe?) it will reduce the occurrence.
  7. Apologies... this appears to fit the OP subject. Probably wouldn't. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D6QczRLR75Y
  8. Chris Hoy was a big fan of them... his trainer? Not so much. http://roadcyclinguk.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/chris-hoy1.jpg
  9. +1 was eyeing up them there but didn't know much about them but great prices. Have friends that swear by the Vigilante / Velociraptor combo.
  10. Feck, I've honestly just stopped laughing...
  11. Cheers for the bump, I'd forgot about that bit of 'tech'... Wonder where I can get those big 15 toothers.
  12. Didn't you post this topic already? Over here You've got a fews comments and options.
  13. The world of Strava is no place for a man with a conscience. Take it, claim it and wait for the Kudos to flow... and if anyone takes it off you then go back with a 4x4 and really make sure it's yours!
  14. See I fixed that for you and saved 3 codes of footie players back home being insulted by the analogy.
  15. Good sprint by Modolo going around the out side but ouch, that crash was tough. Van Poppel and Goss getting at each out and taking out some innocents.
  16. Pactimo (USA company) have these for sale and a 20% off code on the site. Think they do free delivery as well. http://www.pactimo.com/shop/men-s/mens-cycling-and-biking-jerseys/mens-country-cycling-jerseys/south-africa-jersey.html http://www.pactimo.com/shop/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/h/o/house_121516_south_africa_mens_designer_jersey_front__16711.png
  17. He just dropped himself out of the Suisse... Anyone's guess now but if he's not staying @ Sky next year I don't think you'll see him @ Le Tour.
  18. Oh no, maybe we should call the police and let them know there was at corruption at work, not part of a legal process found throughout the world. As for the lawyers, they always win even when you lose. http://cdn.memegenerator.net/instances/400x/37294478.jpg
  19. Jeez, what would happen if you got caught doping and uploading to strava... 2 lifetime bans? Ban your kids? What will they do if you upload a route and have already been banned for doping! They must be sweating on what that spanish dude is going to do... Just kidding, I fully understand their point as they need to protect their assets and good relationships with the landholders (do they pay landholders for access during the race?). A rule is a rule and if you signed up then you signed up to all the rules.
  20. just actually picked up a Gelert Edge backpack from Camp n Climb in Cape Town. Exactly what I was after, 10ltr bag with 2 ltr source open top style bladder. It comes with 3 compartments (bladder with holder, big middle section and then full length organiser at the front with pockets for phones wallets, tools, jackets stash etc), waist strap, chest strap (up and down adjustable) and vertical compression strap. The back is air flow'd and padded (though not as skeletal as the camel bak / Osprey) and the while gig comes with a lifetime guarantee. It did take a bit of adjustment with the straps to get it to fit 100% but no more than a few minutes, water flow is great and it takes a lot of kit without feeling like it could wobble about. I bought it on a punt because they retail @ R550 and figured if it didn't work out I'd just pass it on or use it for hikes on the mountain because of the space but I've been fully impressed on the couple of rides so far. My only thought is that I'm not sure what the back air flow would be like in baking summer heat. http://www.outdoormania.co.uk/images/Products/Master/6225-product507.jpg
  21. Internet was poked as well but I'm happy to buy it so I have it in the libary. Had 'one of those' nights in France a good few years ago when tagging along doing some filming work for a mate doing a few DH docco's. Did some filming, did some riding, hit the bars, chatted to some fellas. Ended up in the back of a combi going to someones rented house in the forests. Pitched up and found a few guys going full tilt around the house, through the house and off the house on monkey bikes with those double beer can workmen's helmets on. Everyone got helmets and beer and had to race the main guys of the crib. Mr S.Peat and Mr S.Palmer. No one came close to the skills on the bikes or the cans. Was surreal.
  22. "Laurens De Vreese (Wanty- Groupe Gobert) was the first attack and he was soon joined by Eritrea's Daniel Teklehaimanot (MTN by Qhubeka)." They have quickly opened a 3:00 lead on the peloton.
  23. Looks like Kelderman could be heading over the Orica Green Edge and Whiteys band of marry men then. He'll have a few UCi points in hand and will want some security locked in early so that he's not potential fighting it out with the rest of Belkin and Giant riders for contracts.
  24. I get Cannondale and the love people have for them. Jeez they are nice bikes and I'd have to say when ever I've risen one it felt very 'grown up' but I'd have to go with Giant. Bang for buck, smile on dial and trail mayhem all point down line for the maestros of maestro!
  25. Tinkov is a little mental but he has some great ideas to professionalise the sport and share the revenue between the teams and organisations so that this constant uncertainty is cut back. Alot of the prize money at the Giro was often less than you can win on radio phone in! Look at mayhem Euskatel and others caused at the end of last year and how many top guys are riding pro continental. It's a professional sport but riders still have to pin their paper / cloth numbers on their jerseys... that is 1940s stuff. Kick into the new age.
