Humm... someone won. Didn't see it as the fee died. No 'analogue' riders in the top 10 tho. Will be interesting to see how just the pros go this afternoon rather than people who aren't super into the game side of things and are mainly road riders.
  3. I think'd like to go with this Caminade Chill Easy ti / steel mix. Their builds come with Ohlins which is a good choice as I've never had them and a coil front and rear would be pretty epic as the lil' yellow O is quite pimp but an alternative would be Fox 36 Grip2 up front and Fox X2 rear for air options. If I was a colour whore then I'd just spec everything that hope makes in team greens that would link trick but where is the fun in that. Parts on my list would be: - Wheels: We are one Composites Union Carbon rims laced to Hope hubs (add in the best brass nipples and double butted spokes and built by Droo / Stoke) - Brakes: I'd really love Cura 4 pots as I loved the 2 pots and they were just right for me but I think it'd have to be a set of trickstuff Maximas if money no object. 200+ rotors front and back. - Pedals: Spez' Boomslang - Bar and stem: We are One Composites 'Da Package' - Groupo: I'd fly to Italy (post virus) and commission a Campagnolo 1 off MTB groupset, mechanical of course. With the 8 months+ of R&D test extensively across europe's mountain playgrounds, choppered in and out by the my own uber air. Failing that I'd prob' got for an XTR 12 over a SRAM as I never feel as stoked about having a SRAM set on my bike as I do with a Shimano one. No real reason for that tho. Maybe throw in a nice Hope crank for fun and ditch the XTR one. - Seatpost: Bike Yoke Revive - Grips: Deity Enoki bit a tad shorter than standard - BB & Headset: Some hell ceramic thing but has to be low maintenance. - Chain: Thought about that one Wiggins used for the hour record that was a work or art n' science but then decided I'd take the one that was bomb proof and I never have to hack with at the side of a trail. - Tyres: Depends on the terrain but I'd love a proper sized 2.6 Spez Eliminator up front and a custom made Spez Slaughter out back. Custom as they only make 2.3 and I want a 2.6 in a case that isn't quite a Blk Dmnd casing. - Extras: One up EDC, charge saddle, braided hoses, MRP ramp in the fork, Shockwiz if I went air bouncy bits, Think that is about it...

I'm wanting to like it but it does feel a bit like phoning Dominos and asking them to read the menu to you when you're hungry. Nice initiative tho.

So there are 2 Ronde events going on today? Organisers Ronde: later today. and the Ronde van Zwift which seems to be MvdP and his Fenix team vs an allstar pro team and a load of Zwift cycling teams on now. This is on the Richmond Worlds course.
  7. True, true but I did the same as I needed new wheels and couldn't afford the straight build with double butted spokes, brass nipples and all the good stuff at the time. I was thinking of Lyne at the time but I needed a boost front / non boost rear and was struggling to get info from them about stock. I bought the Flows on Hopes from CWC and to be honest they were built fine. Picked a hub colour, paid, waited a few days and collected. I ran them for a good 18 months across Jonkers, Tokai, Contis, Hoogies etc without an issue. Thing is I knew I would rebuild them at some point (and did with you guys - thanks for the stellar build as always) but it staggered the process and the initial purchase gave great hardware to move forward. Much like getting bike with a couple of average part and upgrade as you go. I don't think my final build (initial build + Droo love) was more than a 'classier' initial build from some where else. I did get quotes at the time and think I still came in under those. I'm guessing might have been lucky as I've not had any of the cracking issues that people have flagged. Does anyone know if / when these were addressed by stans and if / when improved rims started being produced?
  8. Hunt make great wheels. I know it's a little callous but there are a lot of bike shops who are pumping out good deals on wheels and need to survive through this difficult time so maybe give a few a call and see if they have anything that will suit on sale (or can put on sale) and help keep them ticking over.
  9. CWC have some decent wheels on sale at the moment. https://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/ztr-29r-crest-mk3neo-wheelset Crests on Hope for R4,499 Arch on Hope for R5,899 Flow 3 on Hope for R5,899 A set of mavics I know nothing about for cheap.

No excuses when pro's are posting on their socials about how bored they are and trying to train alone sucks. How do we tune in and watch? Could be good fun. Shame its only 32km. Wonder how a field of 13 will effect the racing, if one person is going to go balls out from the first and hope everyone gets bored of indoor riding then coast home. If everyone will do the equivalent of 29kms of warm up then fight club. I hope everyone will dress up in proper 80's spin bike kit and pump out euro-dance in their pain cave.
  11. I've been crying over that since it came on. have revised the geo a fair few times cos at 5'9", how weird could it get on a XL?!?!? Been looking for a vendetta for soooooooo long. There were a fair few on Pinkbike buy / sell about 12 months ago and I was super blaise about them then they just stopped coming up.
  12. 2 of my clients put on a lot of running events (they do themed runs, spar ladies runs, marathons etc). They had been working on events for the government and had a meeting to see what the thoughts were from that side. Obviously when this clears up everyone who has an event / has postponed a event will be scrambling for the limited dates available in the calendar so were trying to get the inside line. Their outcomes of the meeting was pretty bleak. Lockdown would be extended in some form based on spread and that the infection spike is still considered a long way off. Their belief was that the idea of holding any kind of mass participation event can't be considered as feasible until late August / September.
  13. Damn... Who came here looking for Hope Brakes CNC goodness porn. Sad Panda, back to my own stash then.
  14. • Zoom for work, seems to handle multiple users pretty well. • House Party for drinks and letting kids catch up with school mates (set to private tho) for up to 8 people at once. • Skype is endlessly buggy and I find can't handle multiple attendees on the call but okay for one on ones. • Whatsapp and FaceTime are pretty last resort.
  15. It is to some degree but there are alot of events guys trying to keep their heads above the water so there can actually be some people around to run events when this all passes. More to the point, ask them what their plan is if the ban on events hasn't been lifted by then and what is their cut off point? I got a message from an event later in the year offing an early bird special. It's an event I'm super keen to do. First thing I asked was what their contingency plan / refund plans etc was and they came back with: "we are applying our minds to what is appropriate. I guess that if normality hasn't returned by say end-July we'll probably offer refunds or carry-over to the next planned event in early 2021. I see you have an UK email address. Are you considering coming out for this ride? If so, I would advise you to look at travel insurance to cover you in case we are forced to reschedule the September dates." I think if you are sending out invites while all this is going on you have to communicate a clear, solid policy and for it not to be a bit of a 'ummm... errrrr... well I guess...'.
  16. Jeez man, that is a rough one. I have a feeling my old girl is finally on the her last walk. Hadn't even occurred to me that we couldn't be with her if it comes to it. Sorry for your loss.
  17. Unfortunately I think there are going to be a lot of people shifting a lot of items here and in the wider world post lock down. Pretty sure people will be selling a lot of non necessities (and necessities) to make ends meet when this ends and impact to businesses is known. The car reclamation auctions will be buzzing like it's the GFC again!
  18. Just got a new puppy the day before everything was shut down. Had to fly him down from PTA on the last flight into CT. All my other dog are rescues but in this case it was family farmers that had a Ridgeback / Labrador litter and were giving the away to the relatives. Who could resist! Black on back ad a classic Ridge down the back. 4 months today and massive paws. Unfortunately while I was waking up this morning my kids renamed him.... Dave. Bad, bad name but they're not budging.
  19. MTB direct in Aussie are pumping out the deals before they go into lockdown. https://www.mtbdirect.com.au/trust-performance-shout-fork New trust forks at over 60% off so $1199Aud 130mm and 178mm options. So a shade over R12K plus Aramex for a R35k fork local price.

  21. Check the ad and the fine print (or post here) and if it's specific about the hubset being boost then call them out. Seems a but of a shifty move but I don't know the full extent of the deal.
  22. A second hand Ripmo 1? Seen a couple about for the R60k mark. also there was an Intense Tracer knocking about here for a steal if the OP could fit and fancied a 650b.
  23. I'm waiting too see that as well. the V1 Smuggler got all the love (and was one of my fav' bikes ever) the latest one appeared to be a bit more 'meh' in reviews and was often accompanied by phrases like 'sturdy', 'built to last' but had none of the voom and excitement of the previous one. I love my Ripmo but really miss the feeling of the shorter travel, down focused, 29'rs like my Smuggler and my following. Have been thinking about the new Kona Processes. Would love a 29'r scout tho!
