  1. Love or hate the song, this can only be seen as good news!
  2. Which Caad 10 is this? (groupset wise)
  3. Looks good. You have a good base to work off now. Next two months will just be spent getting those times quicker. But it's always good to know you can do the distance.
  4. I wish there were more threads like this on thehub. Some actual good advise, not just sarcastic trolling. Looks like the 2012 SLX M666 also have the ICETEC rotors and calipers. They are R450 cheaper than the XTs... so still a good alternative if your budget is tight?
  5. I like Karl. Favourite non-SA rider.
  6. Hoe lyk die agterwiel?
  7. You only read what you want to read (judging by what you highlighted). I am on you side even if you don't see it. Some cyclists are their own worst enemy, and sometimes need to be protected from themselves. Please just be safe and courteous. *typo
  8. So cycling at 30km/h and pausing for a second to overtake a pedestrian walking at 6km/h is more dangerous than a car weighing 1000kg and traveling at 70km/h passing a cyclist. Come on man don't be ridiculous. If the cyclelane is there then use it. And if you are 5 or more riders, even more reason to use it. You've got to take your own safety in your own hands. Don't go looking for trouble. Yes it would be great if cars always passed us with the 1.5m rule, and if they always waited for a safe spot before overtaking us. And 999/1000 you'll be fine, but you only need to get hit once. If there is a cyclelane (even a crappy one) I use it, because the chances of me getting seriously hurt or killed goes down dramatically. But if you are telling me I should stop trying to save some poor arrogant cyclists life by confronting them, I'll stop.
  9. Bit off topic... but: Would motorist still have to abide to this law even when there is a dedicated cycle lane, but the cyclist chooses not to use it? I see so many douchbags that do this on Marine drive while there is a (PERFECTLY) good cycle lane... and when you hoot or confront them they act like the motorist is in the wrong. "Hayward said: “Cyclists are not all goody-two-shoes. The police must get out there and fine those people. A cyclist does not have the right to ignore traffic rules. In Australia they confiscate your bike until you’ve paid the fine.”"
  10. I also have that issue. I'm keeping my distances short (5-7km) and building base. Did GunRun and it actually went okay... 2:18. It's not super fast but at least I was able to run 95% of the time. So I'm gonna continue with the shorter distances for now, and then maybe ramp it up in Dec and seeing how it goes.
  11. Essays!
  12. Jip that one also caught my attention! Will be a good day to be in France!
  13. How are you guys handling the training so far? I have to say that I'm struggling every other week. I can go hard for a week, but then suffer the next week feeling "pap". I think there might be an issue with my recovery? What do your routines looks like?
  14. Why even click on the topic if you are not interested? How bored are you?
  15. Thanks for the info, I'll think I'll then probably go for the Conti Protection tyres. How's the tread holding up?
  16. How heavy are you?
  17. Thanks, good to know. With that 580g weight I was worried. So the X-Kings are working for you? They aren't that much heavier...
  18. So the rolling resistance and grip on the Ikons are good, but how good is the puncture/sidewall protection? Especially for heavier riders? And in the rocky western cape conditions...

Bryton Cardio 35. Some anomalies... only measured 93km, and my riding time as 4:32. My official time was 5:18, and I definitely didn't stop for 45 minutes at water points. Still have to play around with it apparently. 21. Thanks for the info. So you literally remove the whole quick-release mechanism from the hub, and replace it with one of these conversions? How reliable are they? Has anyone tried them before? I haven't really settled on a price. About R3000 second-hand, or about R4000-R4500 new. I'll keep my eyes open for something on The Hub. October is bonus month (hopefully), so looking to spend a few bucks on my bike. I'm a heavy rider (90-95kg at the moment), so apparently the Crests are not an option :-( My freewheel is very quiet at the moment and I have a feeling it might be nearing the end of life, so I thought I might as well upgrade the whole wheelset while I'm at it. After Karoo 2 Coast I noticed an alarming amount of oil coming out of my Fox F29, so that also needs some attention. Eish... a MTB is expensive to maintain.

Improved my time by just over an hour from last year, so I'm chuffed. Did anyone else almost hit a photographer standing in the middle of the road on a corner coming down the (I think) second climb? What a dumbass...
