  1. Ride Darling has the lekker Trails at Wolwefontein and '!kwatthu The organizers of Ride Darling used to organize the DBX, but after the brewery was sold they broke away and started a new event, the Ride Darling. I can't speak for others, but I'll do Ride Darling.

  3. I got a surprise entry for half an oceans a while ago. Not being on Easter suited me so I grabbed it. Will be my first, and my only goal is to have fan, and be faster than my wife's pb of 2:04
  4. Only a problem if you prefer to actually ride bicycles and not just discuss them online.
  5. The broken, non repairable sram derailleurs and shifter in my drawer serves to remind me why I divorced sram.
  6. Sram's UDH is a good thing. The Morey frame designers changing to this the better. It should have been implemented years ago. For frame designers it ensures compatibility with Shimano and future sram, and it will eventually bring down the price of hangers if they are all the same. Take this from someone who doesn't like SRAM.
  7. Define "Slightly decent" please. Because my deore specced ali bike is about 60k. If however, you MUST ride carbon and AXS, you'll be shelling out for the illusion.
  8. Just phone them and ask to speak to the ops room or to the manager on duty.
  9. Sram is celebrating being able to shift under load with this. I've been having it on my Deore 12spd build for three years. Or put it in at mid spec price points as well immediately when it goes to market.
  10. A while back the tap stopped working. So I pulled the tap in its entirety out and went to Partshub with it. Ended up being the gasket that the tap pushes against. Well I rebuilt the entire tap with new seals, and sommer replaced the shower screen, Porta filter gasket and got some cleaning chemicals for a bargain. Machine is serviced, cleaned, descaled, and gooiing steam at command again. Die saak is weer reg hier in my huis.
  11. I e done this with an old On One 456 carbon frame. Drilled it at the bottom of the seat tube, slightly off set to the side, at an upward angle so that the cable enters with less than a bend. Finished it with a small round file. That was three years ago. That bike gets treated like a red-headed step child and I've forgotten about the hole I've drilled into the frame.
  12. Potentially that fork is worth 7k, but in reality you might struggle to sell it at all. It's market is very narrow. Basically it's suitable for mtbers who want to put a leaf spring on their mtb to make a gravel bike. but it won't work for gravel bikes. So your market is limited. If the selling price on the look is equivalent to the value of the frame and part minus the lauff, then it's worth it, but I'll be honest, that lauff is a deal breaker for me.
  13. And what happens if you klap some half decent results and go to finals in Magaliesberg? Then you pitch up with a glorified gravel bike? It a lot of money to invest in a highly specialized tool for one race series.
  14. I watched at a triathlon yesterday how people dismounted at a turn around point to turn their bikes around instead of just riding around the cone. Or they clip out with the wrong foot and then hop around the corner on their outside leg. It made the average epic back marker look like seasoned mountain bikers. But you know what, they had fun, they pushed themselves and that is a good thing. Same with the epic back markers pushing easy trails. They are out there, grinding it out, and that is a good thing.
  15. This is very streamlined and tucked away nicely. Maybe it will stay out of harms way. But the last time I broke a derailleur I felt the rock hit the underside of my foot, and take the derailleur out on the way back. This fancy one would not have made it. It seems that SRAM and frame makers have decided it’s better to have the rider’s wallet be the sacrificial item.
  16. I’ll rather ride SS than pay for this.
  17. First thing is to figure out if you can put roof racks onto that thing? If you can, slap a Thule carrier of choice onto these racks and go forth.
  18. I was going to suggest the DMR STS tensioner that I have on my bike, but then I realized that I’ve swapped it with a Rapide tensioner like the one you seem to avoid. I swapped it because the Rapide tensioner works really well, whereas the DMR was a las. my local ; Williams Bike Shop used to have a few tensioner options, so there used to be options available.
  19. Now we have new organizers sticking up their hands, trying new venues and adding more dates. Wins all round if you ask me. Riders must bear in mind that enduro racing in the western cape is not viable financially, so the guys organizing now have day jobs, and doing this is for the love of sport more than anything else. So mistakes will be made, fixed and hopefully not repeated. But I reckon a venue where the route is safe but requires some pedaling is great to get newbies acclimated and into the sport. Pretty soon the racing will be back at jonkers/Conties and riders will moan about their arm pump and not their blown legs. Does anyone remember the Amarider enduros ? We had a blast racing the relatively tame trails at Delvera/Muratie and Welvanpas. That series also died down, way more rewarding and less hassle to organise trail runs. moral of the story: if you want Enduro races, go do the enduro races.
  20. Just remember that back in your day’s the riders knew how to be self sufficient, drinking out of streams like savages, flip, legend has it that some guys even fixed their own bikes. And we were so used to the shitshow by three organisers ago that we were happy just to have a prize giving with accurate times.
  21. Jis I'm keen on doing this. Having a friend who recently moved to George means I'll get to see them as well. The Sunday race means I'll be getting home late, but I can get the wife or shotgun to drive a bit. Somerset West isn't that far. Pre-rife Saturday, race Sunday. Sounds like a great weekend.
  22. I'll take a stab. The 20a inverter can only charge at 20, wether it's into a lithium or a SLA battery. So in 4hrs of charging it will put back 80s, irrespective o wether it's into 100aH LiPo or 200aH SLA. Now here is where my knowledge gets shaky, but Lithium batteries charge at a different profile and higher volts than SLA, so an inverter originally specced for SLA won't be charging the Li optimally or even correctly, possibly damaging it? I think the salesman is talking porky pies. But you'll need to do some research on it. Methinks you are asking too much of your system. Left fuels idea: Buy the 100aH battery, and add a solar panel and solar charger to it, that way when it's loadshedding the battery is charging and solar can even carry the load.
  23. As a fellow Scott rider, I suggest that you buy a nice RS Sid Pike or Revelation with the 35mm stanchions and slap a 120 airspring (or even better if it's the new Spark : 130mm airspring) in it with the bin remote lockout Charger Damper and then throw that cable away. Then the remote only works on the back shock, and you can micro adjust the front independently as needed. But that's just my opinion, from someone who likes his Scott, but thinks that remote dual lockouts are crap.
  24. In the old days most RS forks had 120mm air springs with spacers acting as stoppers to make them 100mm. But now the forks are sold with air springs corresponding to the travel. You will need to buy a 120mm air spring as well for the 100mm fork that you buy. So factor that in your price. And you'll have to check compatibility with the parts codes on the RS website.
