  1. Good advice with the soapy water. I've put a wheel in the pool before to find the leak. I'm a fan of a gorilla tape. I haven't used stans or any bike brand tape in about 9 years. Gorilla tape isn't porous. And if you take a wide roll you can tear it to desired width. Just start the tear with a knife or scissors, and then it continues tearing in a straight line. I don't know why people moan about the residue either. When I've had to pull off tape due to replacing a spoke , I just put a new piece over it. The glue residue doesn't affect the integrity of the new tape. I'm yet to have to redo an application of gorilla tape. It just works.

  3. Een man se lelik is 'n ander man se vrou. I've had three bikes with vertical shocks. None of them Merida though.
  4. Wow, you'll need to shop in the kids section for a bottle to fit in there. But damn, all this dead space between the shock and the downtube could well be utilized by something like this. https://www.blackburndesign.com/p/switch-wrap-bicycle-tool-kit/350160000100000023.html
  5. Wow that must be tight then. Please post a pic, I'm curious. Edit: Nevermind, I googled. The forward rake of the rear shock doesn't help at all. Maybe just maybe a tube strap/tool roll can fit between the bottle cage and the shock, but that will be trial and error.
  6. Side entry bottle cage. And if the top of the bottle scratches underneath the top tube, then put a few washers in under the bottom bolt of the bottle cage to shim it so that it angles down and away from the down tube. Or get a holy rail and move the bottle cage down lower in the frame to get it to fit.
  7. No. Well you'll be able to blow up the kids toys with it. You want something like this. TradeAir - 24L 1.1kW 1.5HP Lubricated Compressor available to buy online at @TAKEALOT We offer fast, reliable delivery to your door. https://www.takealot.com/tradeair-24l-1-1kw-1-5hp-lubricated-compressor/PLID46846774 I have a 24L Compressor, and even that struggled with so.e of the older tubeless conversions, but the modern tyre and rim setups don't struggle.
  8. It's a shimano pedal tool. Use it to open your pedals, adjust the bearings with spanners, and then close it again with this tool.
  9. The club basically only builds manicured flow trails. Trails that encourage high speeds, hard braking and hero moments. And then the club management moans about people dragging brakes. Here is a novel idea: Build less berms. Oh wait, never mind.
  10. A friend introduced me to this, with a fancy blade carrier that Corneel made for him. It makes using planes so much more satisfying. And I only have cheap/old Stanley's.
  11. Sounds like your Josh and my Josh belongs to the same whatsapp group. Etter.
  12. I'm not involved anymore. There is a new crew with new ideas and new motivation. And they've added a couple of nice bits. I've spent a few wet hours in that puddle pictured trying to sort out the drainage there. Now I've got a new pet project wrt trails. But I still enjoy riding at Southeys, now just with my boy on the half-wheeler.

  14. You have three options : Ride out to Stanford on the new road, that now actually has a shoulder. Mostly flat Ride out to Caledon on the Hemel en Aarde Rd, mostly rolling hills. Ride out to Botrivier, with the option to then turn off at Kleinmond. You can also go out to Stanford and then Caledon and then back via H&A.
  15. Actually, that is good news for you. It means that the leak is probably due to that valve not being tightened down properly. Easy fix. Sommer take the time to clean it and replace the valve cores (guaranteed to be grotty) on both wheels and top up sealant.
  16. Especially with a line like this: "To lose a customer for life and potentially many from bikehub over R800 when they are clearly in the wrong is just disappointing." No one at BM is losing sleep over this incident.
  17. No it isn't a well known fact. Because you are wrong. I'd be more miffed about the tyre not having fresh sealant in it. But I probably would have stripped the bike and serviced it myself after receiving it to pick up things like this before riding. Just put new sealant in and spin the wheel. Replace the plug if necessary. That tyre still has a lot of life in it.
  18. What a lekker day out again. Was good meeting Morne, and seeing @Bos. Bos had a great day, 38th overall and 6th in the Ballie class. 👌. Also a great first time out for the new organising crew. They pulled off a slick event while having to learn the ins and outs of organizing people and herding cats. I'll gladly marshall at their events again. I liked the shorter stages compared to last year. Yes last year was harder, but I think that most had mor fun today.
  19. Jy het toe so effens na 11 ingekom. Was lekker om te ontmoet. Laat weet as jy lus is om in Somerset Wes te kom ry, ek sal jou met liefde rond wys.
  20. Actually they are not a good fit. And they look like a dog trying to take a dump to get around the added stack height problem of the bigger wheels, with the terrible stand over height to go with it. Right on! I've coached enough school kids and ladies that I can confidently state that a 26er is a great bike to start with for a short person.
  21. I'm not even 40 yet and also lumped into Ballie class. Do the stage with the shortest kine first?
  22. I concur with this assessment.
  23. In my 22 years of riding, I've never seen a rotor break. Was it worn down to the point of breaking off? How old is the rotor? How many sets of pads did you go through in the lifetime of this rotor?
  24. Best you phone a bike shop or two in your area.
  25. Chill die guava, raak vir my rustig, pak 'n dun reenjassie (vir die rondstaan en in die ry wag) en bekommer jou eerder oor die klippe. Jonkers is nie met Overberg klei grond gemaak nie.
