  1. I am putting a lauf on my gravel bike, does that count as a hardtail?? It still has drop bars and skinnyish tyres
  2. Hopefully will do the road race. Depends how other racing options pan out. Gravelable for a skilled rider you say?? 100% count me OUT
  3. GRAVELABLE??
  4. it is a compromise between aero, weight, and aesthetics. The sticker is both less aero and more weight. And in most cases, less pretty
  5. No ways. Riding stickerless is 1-10 gram saving
  6. I don't want to see SA getting dicked by Australia so I don't watch them play. A lot of athletes have the boxes ticked that are in their control (great power numbers, win local races), but those out of their control are not in their favor (having to pay to go to worlds, having to borrow most of their gear shortly before the event, not having races to race and gain experience). Honestly losing the rugby is more disappointing considering their budget
  7. If you have x number of entries and CSA is not really contributing to covering them I think the experience is valuable to these athletes, and many of them have aspirations of riding overseas once they have finished studying and/or if they get the opportunity.
  8. Agreed. Pretty proud team mate. First ever ITT and on freshly borrowed kit! I am not making excuses but I think it is pretty cool and not a shabby performance.
  9. Hayley finishes in 41:41 at 43.6km/h!
  10. I think they need a larger diameter on the steerer side, not the bar clamp
  11. Aren't they always??
  12. haha I got it at the Ciovita sale but I love it! Constant source of entertainment using it to annoy my gf who thinks I spend WAY too much time here... Maybe I should wear it for $ lol
  13. I have the hub casquette from TdFranschoek you can borrow haha
  14. Just be warned that the Specialized adjustable stem probably won't work, I had to get a spacer like 1mm or 2mm thick to make mine work on my Canyon. I think the Giant ones are a good shout.
  15. I don't think the steel one is that much. The ti one, probably that much. One of the guys I build with has built two awesome steel gravel bikes... I would love one of those
  16. I would also consider going down the Kev of Steel or whatever that Benky is selling, they look lakka and I have only heard good things.
  17. If you plan on falling and breaking your helmet often, Giro and Scott have some decent MIPs options. If you have fallen and broken your helmet, but don’t think you will be doing it again anytime soon, perhaps invest in a nice aero helmet if you are a road rider, I have one listed in the classifieds
  18. Ride report for Friday morning. took my trusty Cannondale pumped to road pressure from some road rides while I was working on my road bike (140mm stem and 340mm bars to make @Pure Savage proud) The UCT single track will hopefully be back soon as I was riding with Grant who is the boss man of the uct mtb scene, interesting to see my old stomping ground (indoor rowing center) with no trees around it. Turning off the tar to get on the gravel was still quite loose and not much has been done there. That part was alright on the gravel if you have gears (I was happy on my 38f 42r but grant was doing torque intervals on 36 or 34 front and 30ish rear) but I would not classify it road bike-able. I stopped to let some air out of my tyres as I was expecting them to have been fine quite hard and OBVIOUSLY let out way too much and enjoyed sealant spraying all over my legs for the next 2km of not-ideal-for-gravel road. Some sections were very loose and rutted. Definitely not happily road bike-able (for me at least). We got to the second gates, also closed, and I put some air in my tyres again as I prefer not having sealant on my calves. Upon stopping we also realized we had some assistance from a nuts tailwind. From just after here it was mostly that beautiful gravel pictured above that dreams are made of, apart from a few bits of rock or “potholes”/ruts. Climbing the switchbacks in the wind was interesting for two small sub 65kg boys, and the descent was SKETCHY in the wind. At one point on the most exposed corner (about a 110° turn after the main switchbacky corners) we stopped as we were almost blown off the side and my glasses flew down the side of devils peak. I went to retrieve them and did some more damage to my poor Road shoes. Descending the rocky stuff later was pretty gnarly as my pressure wasn’t quite right. All in all it was a fun ride to do something a bit different to usual and a nice start to Friday morning! will definitely be back
  19. If someone offers me x-30% cash today I usually say x+30% cash later in the week... lol
  20. I don't enjoy the bargaining system. If everyone just bought into listing prices that they thought were fair and lowering them as they saw fit it would be so much nicer than getting offered 50% or less of what you are asking constantly, even on ads where you say non-negotiable. Instead I find I inflate my price to account for the lowballers so they feel like they got a good deal. It's easier to just buy into it than fight it. I'd like to be able to list something for X, because it is worth X to me, and for anything less I would rather hang onto it or wait for someone who sees the same value. I reckon on average this would result in lower prices for everyone and more sales.
  21. This looks amazing!!!!! I am heading up on the gravel bike tomorrow am
  22. Isn't that the Atlantis place with those big dunes?
  23. J&J July 13th, symptoms 23 August, the day after doing a 6h ride (my gf had it and I suspect this pushed my immune system over the edge)
  24. 1 week of cold-like symptoms, 1 week of tiredness, started riding IDT on low watts after 14 days, first outdoor ride on day 20 (3h20) where power was about 10% lower for same hr (I suspect this was due to being very well rested and less fit, hoping it is not recurring feature), now I have done about 6h so far this week and hr seems to be stabilizing a bit. I am a student with no comorbidities though. I managed to get the vaccine early (J&J) because I coach sport. The worst part by far has been the anxiety of whether I will recover smoothly and be able to be better than I was before.
  25. I know a guy who was vaccinated a month before he got COVID (that guy is me...)
