  1. I have it on good authority you can run 11 speed campy shifting with a Shimano or SRAM drivetrain. https://cyclingtips.com/2017/12/mixing-road-groupsets-what-works-together-and-what-doesnt-2/
  2. Personally I would go further and say unless you are set on Campy, go for ultegra 6800. It’s lighter than ultegra 8000 rim brake. Spares are much cheaper, a set of campy cables (in my experience they make the shifting much better) is almost R1000! Find a cannondale si crank to save a few more grams and because they look hawt. Brakes and saddle are an easy spot to save weight too, but not at the expense of comfort and safety. Then some aero carbon hoops and sell your light alloy ones - Darkhorses occasionally pop up for quite a fair price on the hub.
  3. Hey Mikaeel, good luck with your build. I had a 2018 Supersix with Super record it came in at about 7.3 with 1500g wheels on, 300g power pedals but heavy stock saddle.
  4. You have just been spoilt now...
  5. Yeah... Ou Kaapse up to Silvermine is the best road option at just over 20 min, but a bit less if you are doing over 4w/kg, and the mast is gravelable but not that pleasant on the gravel bike.
  6. Almost my favorite shorter loop... Nek, Chappies, Ou Kaapse, Nek.
  7. That sounds like a miserable experience, isn't the whole point to drop your team mates? @Pure Savage
  8. Big chance of drops especially around Tradouw Pass Edit: spelling
  9. Also I have found that old tubes, if you have any lying around, are excellent for securing your bike. Just cut them up to size and use them to secure your bike to rack or hold any cloth or foam in place.
  10. I reckon for the similar money I would rather run eagle axs. I have found myself wanting more gears at 4 w/kg on steep climbs running 38f 42r, running a 44f 52r would offer a better top end and easier climbing. let alone doing a longer ride and adding another 5kg of baggage to the bike, I know that 52 would be used.
  11. According to USADA, Compton tested positive for an anabolic agent during an out-of-competition test administered on September 16, 2020. - Velonews
  12. This helmet seems very nice... https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/helmets/491692/giro-vanquish-aero-helmet
  13. https://cyclingtips.com/2021/08/joao-almeida-to-join-uae-team-emirates-in-2022/ Another solid rider locked in by Mr Wakefield's crew. Interested to see if he will be in his own GC-hunting roll or riding in support of the POG
  14. And avoid the windy days, it’s crazy how the South Easter affects both the bike and the cars up there…
  15. Do they make gravel bikes? I am looking for a frame...
  16. I reckon it will just get some Pinarello branding on it, why waste grams on paint coats...
  17. It takes so little effort to be nice instead of using words people don't like or find triggering. In fact admin even put in the effort to make sure you have to make zero effort. Thanks guys. Anyway, make sure you don't join the queue to give MVDP a hug as it is probably longer if all these comments have nothing to do with gender.
  18. Did you miss the Stelvio stage of the Giro last year?
  19. This is my response when people ask me why I ride all three sides of Constantia Nek so often... It's a lekker road
  20. I have also had good experiences with Triton Express but it seems like TCG is a winner. Will go for quotes from both next time...
  21. I ride up through Silvermine gate pretty often, and occasionally to the point, and I only ever show them a picture of mine and they are happy with that... often I am in glasses and buff up and they have never questioned it. So that is also an option if you don't want to carry the card imo
  22. Like Pidcock's recovery from his crash. Quite inspirational when you see what is possible with access to the best healthcare and extreme mental toughness
  23. "I will be back on a bike in no time" ... these okes are built different
