  1. Fortune favours the brave with that 38t up front on any technical trail To prevent hashing out the which tyres are best thread, try a Vittoria Mezcal on the rear and Vittoria Barzo on the front for good all round ability But honestly, I think education is important and running the correct tyre pressures are more importanter. I go down to 0.8bar front and 1bar rear for the tech stuff and up to 3bar for the road rides. I run 2.35 Mezcals front and rear on 30mm rims (will change to a Barzo up front soon)
  2. In otherwords they shifted the blame to the dealer for stripping it Great trust the supplier has with its dealer then, dont you think?
  3. Ive got one of these types to give away for free if anyone wants it. PM me
  4. Hate to be the proverbial drol in the drinking water, but those figures might be a tad high. In the 20k range you can get a decent-ish dual if you shop around nicely (sure, in ally frame, slightly older, but still...). That, and 2nd hand prices seem to becoming a little more realistic lately My carbon HT that I built up sold for 14k a few months back. It had full XT all round plus new rubber on the back and front was about 60%. To me it was a real looker of a bike with the odd custom item here and there, but it didn't do so well being lonely in the garage, hence the price that I sold it for. If you're not in a hurry, you might get your what you're asking for. Add a set of spd pedals and it will be easier to sell. Most people looking for this type of HT are relatively above entry riders and will look for an immediately to ride bike that they can just clip (clipless) into with no fuss Glwts, it sure does look like a sweet ride Oh, and I'd adjust the level of that saddle a bit... It seems to be pointing a little, um... high
  5. I wonder how many people see the double irony in your gif there Morne? 😉😂
  6. An extender? Dont forget to make your cable and chain longer too
  7. 11 speed and a 51t on the rear - I think you need a deraileur hanger extender - https://www.rapide.co.za/product/rapide-derailleur-hanger-extender/ Most 11 speed der's can only get to around a 46 size sprocket and you're running a 51. You'll need to replace your cable and probably extend your chain links as well to clear that 51 on the back. If you change the cassette to a 11/46 you should be fine, just check the settings on the 'B' screw nicely (in fact, check it for the 51 set up anyway. You might find the top of the cage catching the 51t sprocket) Its easy enough to set:
  8. Feel like death warmed up thanks 🤒
  9. I'm asking so that you can go buy yourself one and be happy.... 🤣
  10. Is there anywhere in the big smoke a chap can just walk into a Lbs and buy one of these?
  11. It doesnt give people the right to break the rule then is it? Single file is single file. All road users have to adhere to the rules. And if it makes the trek longer for the cyclists to hit their turn around point, then so be it. The same goes for the car traffic that have to wait longer Riding abreast leads to a knock on effect for grumpy FT's to overtake regardless of the line situation. I bet that Getz driver had had enough of it by then - all grumpy grumpy because the roadies owned that part of the road. Whilst I do agree and have stated as much that the getz driver is also at fault, one must never overlook the initial rule breakers in this story. Maybe Duane can give an exact pin location that it happened? Besides, come ride the 947 mtb race and experience a traffic jam Sorry, I couldnt wait for friday
  12. There were no fortuners mentioned in the discussion.... 😉
  13. I didn't read that Danger. It seems he's at pains to get recourse against the Getz driver - as is everyone else. I agree that the 3 abreast cyclists were the root cause. Effort should be spent to get them to pay or at least educated I agree that a wrong doesn't beget another wrong, but fix the root problem and the rest won't happen Its shyte when something gets hurt and I feel his pain of a dented vehicle, but we're all chasing the wrong pot here. Duane should claim from the roadie that rear ended him. What that chap does after to try settle his claim is his own problem I'll get into single file now and wait for the Friday version 🚙
  14. Ah, that's a better description then. Thanks for explaining it better. 3 abreast is still the first offense And the Getz dude is probably some FT that you'll never see again Hope you get the dent ironed out soon
  15. So is riding 3 abreast. But we miss the wood for the trees sometimes
  16. The getz didn't hit you. Whilst unfortunate in my short sentance, it's sadly that simple. If that Getz wasnt there and you had to jump on the brakes to avoid planting your car badge into the 3 abreast riders, then the tailgater would have hit you anyway. What if that Getz took avoiding measure to not stamp a skeef H into the rear of one of those 3 abreasters, and your braking action was a nett result of him avoiding a mistake? I'm not blaming you by any stretch of the imagination, just suggesting that you need to look at the tailgater that actually hit you for reimbursement. I'm sure you have the riders details anyway. Personally I'd string the 3 riders up in the town square and quater them with used tubes, but that doesn't get good reactions nowadays anyway You're right, I wasn't there. I'm being devils advocate and seeing the simple view
  17. Can hardly blame the Getz driver anyway. I'd get the tailgater to pay for the damage to your truck and let his bent hoods be a warning
  18. Hey, it's Fryday. What did we miss?
  19. The irony of Land Rovers in the thread title...
  20. The Bicycle Workshop has some
  21. L for the bikes left, R for the bikes right - which makes no diffs if your hovering around the front end looking back Left side tighten to the front end (anti clockwise thread) , right side tighten to the front end (normal clockwise thread). It doesn't matter if you use a pedal spanner (on the outside of crank arm) or Allen key (inside of crank arm), the rotation to loosen or tighten is always the same orientation - tighten towards the front, loosen toward the rear. Pedals of course...
  22. They should be stamped with an L and R for orientation... And tighten towards the front, loosen towards the rear for best results 😉
  23. I was listening to 702 this morning on the way to the airport, they were interviewing Tegan Phillips who is doing a record attempt at the Cairo to Cape Town route. I believe she is trying to better the current record of 42 days I guess it makes our discussions on TB, Freedom challenge, RTR, Munga etc as easier tasks than the one she has ahead of her www.teganphillips.com I believe is her website to get more info and follow
  24. Boost helmets exist already. They have 1-5 letter names
  25. And boost chains.... 😉
