  1. Spin, we're off to Mount Anderson in a few weeks for 3 days. You'll need a group of 10 though to get the numbers for the accommodation
  2. 'airy, it was the funniest description of the advertised brakes. You can picture some choice wording in local slaapstad afrikaans lingo used to describe how effective the stopping power of the brakes are. Jjjjirrreee it made me lag
  3. Imagine if we had the comments section open. This ad deserves the Oscar of all adverts - absolutely love it https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/mountain-bike-brakes/569205/ek-se-******-whoooooaaa-brakes
  4. Just DONT take a picture showing the rest of the garage... you'll send Ouzo into ocd rehab

    Rigid mtb forks

Tyone, I run standard XT QR hubs. The rear hub is a 8010 series XT converted back to QR I'll get hold of Kiwi and see what he suggests

    Rigid mtb forks

To be honest its more for self enjoyment than discussion factor But I dont mind the discussion when sticking pace with the roadies anyway 😉

    Rigid mtb forks

Thanks Guy, I'll post a wanted add too Weight watching is on the cards hence I'm interested in the carbon option - plus it looks cooler when you rock up at a coffee winkle in fourways bro 😅
  8. Greetings hubbers I'm needing some advice please - I'm looking to get a rigid fork for a HT to be converted to a graveller style bike. Problem is, I dont want to spend loot on a new wheel set, so I need a rigid with a standard non boost QR system Headset is tapered but I dont think this is the issue Any idea where I can go shopping? I've mailed a few local suppliers last week and none have bothered to get back to me
  9. Pity it doesnt bring the entry fee's down, but probably increase the spam emails. Kudo's to them getting a new title sponsor none the less @Matt check your website address for ridejoburg.co.za in your link
  10. Alo, cant help with a rear der, but I have a new-ish helmet, a pair of flats and a set of mtb grips for him if you want? I'm in northern burbs of joeys
  11. And if you have a L or XL frame, or have a long wheel base on your bike, the darn thing sticks out left and right of the body of a fortuner which adds to the consumption ... Inside the boot for me. Oh, did I mention it's dry in the rain on your way home? I can live with a bit of mud inside the car if needed
  12. Mountain or road bikes? Thule works best for 3 bikes with roadies. As mtb's are wider, you'll struggle to fit 3 onto the carrier - 2 will be no problem I also had a problem with the Thule being too low on the towbar (on a fortuner) and the exhaust would emit all its heat/gasses/diesel fumes onto the wheel strapped right next to the exhaust, creating a heard of issues to the tyre etc. For commuting to your desired area of riding, I would just take a wheel off and chuck it into the back of the car, either the corolla with the seats down, or the fortuner with the left rear seat in the folded up position. In my fortuner, I remove the front wheel then wedge the rear wheel into the space between the folded seat and the door. The bike stands up perfectly in the boot with no further tie downs to be done. For distance travelling (and a few people in the car), I remove the left rear seat and can fit 2 bikes into this space available. Works for me even when towing a trailer, and its generally less of a bike theft risk on the roads or at the shops
  13. Wait hang on - aliexpress can deliver a gx axs system locally for around three and a half thousand ronts less than the local suppliers on special? (I can hear the 'ya bru, but the warranty cover blah blah' excuse for higher local price already) Sorry, I didnt mean to thread drift Yes, I'm all for the electronic future and I think the more it grows the cheaper it will become as well as more refined for specific users/style of riding
  14. We clean the drive train after each ride, usually with a high pressure cleaner and diluted clean green (shock horror 💀). Once cleaned, i dry the chain of excess water and spin it around a few times to throw any left over water out. Lightly lube with Squirt once the chain is dry to prevent any rust build up, then we re-lube before any outride again. Works for us, and yes - there is no perfect golf swing either
  15. Lust.com Thanks a ton big red 👊
  16. https://youtu.be/FbFNrnQ4QUo Here's a good tester for chain lubes
  17. Is your Garmin old that it won't hold a charge for more than 6 or so hours? By the time you're said and done with brackets, battery packs, cables, bags, clamps, cable ties, o-rings on the bike and extra stuff to charge over night, you're probably better off getting a new Garmin unit You're welcome to use my lezyne for the ride, holds for about 50hours between charges 😉
  18. I used to burn the neighborhood on a good old Pro300 bmx back in the day (was probably a PnP special) - a red one because they were just faster. I used to cruise the hood until 7 every evening. I was aged between 5 and 7 at the time and promptly got shipped off to boarding school because of my lack of punctuality! I mean I was never late to get to the track...meh! We used to try kill ourselves on the bmx track which was adjacent to the fire station on Ontdekkers in Florida - kind of at the back of where Florida junction is today. In those days the rage was to own a Daimond Back, and you were a nobody if you couldnt jump 7 tyres lined up in a row, or if you never had a race board on your bars which were tilted waaaay forward Ah yes - memory lane (sorry for the OT drift)
  19. Change dealers - but tell the current one you're moving to their competitor up the road. They'll show you a lot of love to keep you as a customer. If not, then change brands
  20. Good luck in getting it resolved at the dealer. Sadly, once you've paid and left, they're now in the control seat of any come backs as you dont have much recourse after the day has happened. Im a stickler on my vehicle service details and invoicing, and I take the dealer to task right there and then before I depart if I see any issues or if somehting doesnt add up What I find helps though, is calling the service manager and dealer principle to the discussion on arrival. Dont give them a heads up to gather info and use it to their benefit. Hope you come right Funny how the advert on the right of the page is for Suzuki ..... amazing this world of interwebs!
  21. @ACE Cycles honest question: how much does a dealer pay per advert?
  22. Great idea hairy

    Xtr 1x12

Dont the none shimano's, deore, slx, xt and xtr all use the same clutch? How come then there are so many issues on the XTR clutches? I run the SLX clutch internals on my 11spd XT (11/46 & 34t Oval) and have no issues what so ever. As for grease, YT recommends any wheel hub type grease will be fine - no need to buy the expensive branded specific style grease But it makes me wonder though that are the XTR and SLX 12spd issues on the "clutch" systems self born by the pure mechanics of the 12 spd system and by the structual design of the whole thing with less materials. Less material means more flexing in places etc which leads to other issues. Cant comment on the warranties though, I run 2nd hand well worn stuff 11sp (XT) for the win though 🔚
  24. Fixed it for you Theo
