  1. It’s not the CSU though. I would pick that up when descending. Apart from this specific noise my bike is dead quiet on the trail. It only happens while pedaling on flat or uphill with pressure on the pedals. Mostly on smooth surfaces where the fork is doing nothing. From the video shared the fork needs to flex or move a bit for it to click.
  2. I’m suspecting more and more that my freehub is dying though. The noise will be “clack, clack, clack” with every pedal stroke left and right. Seens to happen across the middle of the cassette only. Once I coast or pedal back it will go away. My fiance was riding next to me and heard it coming from the rear wheel. Almost sounds like single speed with too much tension in the chain. I’ll try record it next time.
  3. Taking the wheel in next week to be tensioned. Doesn’t feel right.
  4. It is NOT the cassette. 🤬 Definitely coming from the rear wheel. Time to strip down the derailleur and see it isnt there. Clutch off didnt make a difference. Again: 🤬🤬🤬🤬
  5. Good old Big Red Barn
  6. Too far invested in the 12 speed already. Can afford the NX cassette but not a whole drivetrain. The lady’s bike runs NX/GX 12 speed with zero issues ever. I just got a dud cassette from Sunrace. Off to the shops tomorrow I guess.
  7. Thanks man Only problem is I have a HG freehub so for now I’m limited to Sunrace or SRAM NX 12 speed cassette. Microspline is also not available for my hub so I guess it is XD driver and GX cassette. I can’t wait 20 to 30 days for a Garbaruk cassette to arrive.
  8. 5000km/35000m will make me happy No reason other than heart health and about 20kg to drop.
  9. And the winner is…. Cassette. ******* piece of **** Sunrace. Been nothing but trouble from the start. Massive amount of fiddling and redoing the shifting from scratch and it’s quiet again.
  10. Thought about that as well. Makes sense for them to “ping” under load where the wheel flexes a bit. Definitely worth getting the wheels trued and tensioned to spec.
  11. Then I’ll start hearing my back squeak.
  12. Mine is the opposite. Happens when warmed up which makes me believe it could be pivots or pedals. The two p’s that p me off to work on.
  13. Is a 10-52 too much of a stretch on Shimano derailleurs? I would have gone with a shimano cassette but there are no Microspline freehubs available for the Lyne High Engagement hubs I have. XD or HG only.
  14. My N+1 is her N+1. She is planning her Santa Cruz build as we speak.
  15. This is becoming the definitive thread for all things creaking and also the importance of hearing loss and how it relates to a happy life.
  16. A quiet bike is a fast bike 😂 I’d be less worried if I didn’t feel the click. Previous creak was my seat rails. Carbon can squeal like a stuck pig.
  17. As much as I love the Stumpjumper I think it is overkill for 90% of what Gauteng offers in terms if trails. The Epic Evo is more than capable for all the trails you mentioned and more.
  18. At this point i’m considering a tear down & rebuild service.
  19. Good to know. I’m switching to XD freehub. Tired of the lack of cassette options and endless damage to the splines on HG bodies.
  20. The disaster that is a Sunrace 12spd. I thought along the same lines. I’m not 100% sure if it is across the whole range of gears either. I did inspect the cassette for loose rivets when i serviced the freehub. Nothing obvious
  21. Next on the list
  22. I’m about to start blaming my knees.
  23. Will swop the pedals from the IDT on tomorrow and test. If it is indeed that then OneUp is getting a shoebox full of my dog’s finest. Will be the second set failing in less than a year. And I thought Crankbrothers made bad pedals.
  24. As long as it is another Evil
