    THABA TRAILS

Did the Thaba Toughie this morning. Very cool trail and great single track. Will definitely be back there again. Well done Wendell!
  2. I love this place. Where I learnt how to ride as a newbie, very quick learning curve here. But use your judgement on some of the more technical trails.
  3. Looks frikken awesome!
  4. Yip, agreed. I was on 4 course of antibiotics, leading up to (hardest training week) and during Joberg2c. Didnt affect my performance 1 bit. I wasnt taking it for the Flu (was another misdiagnosed infection I had), so had no reason not to train while on it. The 2 doctors I saw told me to train as like. But if you don't feel 100% recovered from the flu, you might still want to rest a little more.

  7. Same thing happens to me every year . My strengths are the downhills and single track, I dont block guys on the distric road uphills (which I suck at), so same thing applies for them not blocking me on the downhills (I politely ask them to give me a chance to pass when they are able to). You're right I wont beat Evans, but I get my thrills blasting downhill! We are there to enjoy the trails in our own way. But, awesome event once again. Can't wait for next year!
  8. My Zula size large. Weighs 12.0kg Weighed the frame alone at 2.7 or 2.8kg (cant remember exactly) and its far off the the 2.4 claimed weight. (but thats doesnt bother me) I have a 100mm sid, am classic wheels and xt groupset. Compared to my old 10.5kg hardtail, I'd say I'm quicker for sure on the Zula. Heavier bike for sure, but my wheels are the same and still get up to speed just as fast as my hardtail. I do however notice I ride in 1 or 2 lighter gears on the big hills.
  9. I'm so upset I missed this. I'm glad that someone in SA has taken the initiative to start this, lets just hope it lasts.
  10. The Easton Havens are on special on buycyle at the moment. Cant remember the exact price. Pretty good reviews if you google it. Initial problems with the hubs, but this seems to have been sorted out now.
  11. I have a RS sid and AM Classics. Mine flexs quiet a bit under braking, but I still ride hard and forget about it when riding.
  12. Lol, I got a Vit B 2 years ago and swore never to get every again. Couldn't sit for 2 days after it. I got my first Flu jab a month ago. Luckily it didnt affect me (or hurt at all when I got the jab). But I also have heard many people say they get the flu after taking it.
  13. Any reason why you shouldnt train while on antibiotics? I think this is a huge misconception/old wives tail. Over the years I never been told not train by a doctor when on antibiotics. It wont affect your riding in anyway. Heck I've just finshed 4 different courses on them over the last month (for a bacterial infection as nothing I took was working). I told the doc I was training for Joberg2c and he said it shouldnt be an issue to train hard. 2 years ago my brother got bronchitis during joberg2c. Doctor gave him the all clear to carry on racing for the rest of the event, and as it wasnt flu it wouldnt affect his heart in anyway. Although he did feel terrible, it wasnt dangerous for him to race. He felt 100's 2 days later and finished very strong.
  14. I have used a sram 9 speed power link on my xt 9 speed chain for years now. It works perfectly. Always carry powerlinks with you out on your ride.

  16. Another cool link, from Scotts marketing director about 650b http://bicycling.com/blogs/thestraightdirt/2012/03/20/qa-scotts-adrian-montgomery-on-650b/
  17. Here is a link with some Morewood Zula 650b pics about halfway down the page http://forums.mtbr.com/650b/4-full-susp-650b-765244.html
  18. Totally agree with you. I say there is nothing wrong with people taking performance enhancing drugs whatsoever. Most of the pros who take (illegally such as bodybuilders, cyclists, rugby players etc etc) still have a very very hard work ethic and dedication. They would not have gotten to the top on drugs alone. They train harder and eat better than anyone they know of. Their body's are at the limit, and supplements will only help. The problem is, the average guy, and especially teenagers think that supplements and illegal drugs are an easy way to get to the top or to look good and fit and healthy. Supplements are not an easy way out to hard training and dedication, its only a small portion of an intense lifestyle.
  19. Thats not from the clen... I know of quiet a few people who have taken and don't exibit those side effects. He must be taking something else with it.
  20. That site makes all the products look like fakes. They dont even list the ingredients on them. Or you can go the legal route, like many athletes do and get diagnosed with exercise induced asthma. Then you have exemption from a positive test (not for clen, but for other drugs that do the same thing in your lungs)
  21. I've been wanting a 650b for the last 2 years. I have a zula at the moment which I love, but I do feel the wheels are too small. I have also ridden a 29 and I feel the wheels are too big and I cant get cumfy (I'm 6 foot 1 and 80kgs). I've been wanting to get a 120-140mm full sus bike with 650b wheels. 650b was going to be the hit of the year anyway before Nino won this weekend. There are already preproduction leaks from all the fork manufactures. My style of riding is techincal xc, sani, joberg2c so all different. I love techincal single track, and I think 650b will suit MY riding style. There is no 1 bike for all styles, and no 1 bike for all people. For my budget which is only one bike, I think 650b could be right for me.
  22. Schurters reasons for 650b... and some pics http://www.bikeradar.com/news/article/nino-schurter-wins-world-cup-1-on-650b-wheels-33467/
  23. I mix future life with my whey protein shake for breakfast every single morning. And then drink it as a meal replacement shake.
  24. I just bought some epic pro again after 2 or 3 years of not touching the stuff because of the taste. It doesnt taste awefull anymore, I actually like the taste of it now (passion flavour), and will def carry on using it (ok, sporadically its expensive but works well for me).
  25. Well done to the race organisers. Hardest Sabie route I have ever ridden, but by far the best route (75 and 40) I have ridden! Scenic, tough, fun, techincal. Proper mountain biking. This weekend reminds me of why I love mountain biking!
