  1. I've done a few Sabie X's and a couple of Sabie classics. I knew what to expect (or so I thought). It was by far the hardest route I have ever ridden at Sabie. But it also by far the best route I have ever ridden. Well done to the race organisers for putting on an amazing route. I though the 75km would be easier than last year without the sawmill climb. Boy I was wrong, way harder. Even the 40km on Sunday was tough. That was no easy 40km route by any means. I'm glad I did both days, well worth the drive from JHB. Only complaint, they need to add way more of that steep single track. Man that was fun.
  2. Any straight 100% protein will not make you put on weight. The 100% synergy whey from Evox is very good (in my opinion, i have used almost all the diff proteins on the market) and has casein in it for slow releasing, Optimum is excellent but I cant justify paying the price for it.
  3. If Dangle did give him the beating he deserves I don't think he would be sharing that info with us. Unfortunately the law protects the criminals.
  4. Yes, new episodes are on every monday night at @ 20h30.
  5. Wow, ive done 3 Sani's now, I recon if you add up all 3 days you wont get 75km of single track. Dont get me wrong, they have done an awesome job, especially on day 2, but I would love nothing more than for them to start building some nice techincal sections. But im sure what they have is like it is to cater for the masses.
  6. Interesting article... http://bicycling.com/blogs/thestraightdirt/2012/01/26/prepare-for-the-650b-wheel-size-revolution/
  7. Incredible footage. I was also asking myself how the heck did they film that?! Well done! I see it was D4 Productions, the same guys who did the Malelane challenge that was on Super Cycling last week.

  9. I have been thinking of doing the exact same thing. But will the rear wheel fit? Won't that silver bridge on the chain stay will get in the way? Hopefully my lbs will get a rear wheel soon, which I can try and fit on the bike.
  10. It has happend to me... I have had 2 tears/snake bites near the bead on my race king ust.
  11. LBS put the tyre on for me (old american classic rims). There was a tiny bit of sealant seaping through when I collected the wheel. It didnt loose any air at all over the next 2 nights. I did my first ride no problem, but the tyre was quiet soft and lost a lot of air over night after this ride. But since then it hasnt lost any air whatsoever, after lots of riding. I think it comes down to how well the tyre is prepared during the initial set up. I have also scratched the side walls loads of times on rocks and they are still holding up perfectly.
  12. I have a conti x king protection, and using it tubeless. I wont go back to the ust versions. I find these tyres sidewalls quite stiff and strong compared to my old race king ust. I ride the back tyre at about 1.9 bar (I weigh 84kgs). At hill 2 hill I got a puncture, plugged it but didnt bomb it. Road on it for about 30km like that, including district road and 1 or 2 fast downhills at 60kmph. It was my first ride on it and felt more stable than my previous ust version. Got to the waterpoint and decided to pump it up a bit. I was surprised to see i was riding it at 1.2bar, and it didnt feel flexy at all and was very stable.

  15. What about a mtbr.com review type system for all products? Their system seems to work quiet well.
  16. Lots of guys are slow on the flats and uphill’s, but very fast on the technical stuff. Nothing wrong with him wanting to pass (politely asking track). You can make up time on the climbs, he can make up time on the downhill’s. Each person rides to their strength and might want to better his time regardless of what position he is in.
  17. The neutral zone should be scrapped, racing should happen from the start line, this will help spread out the field quickly and separate the fast from the slow. I remember 2 years ago at crater cruise when there was still no batch start, it was so dangerous riding in the bunch in the neutral zone. Everyone is trying to get to the front and recklessly overtaking because now the pace is slow enough for guys to ride like/with the pro's. So many guys were slamming on brakes and locking out. I didnt feel safe at all, and we all said at the time that the slow pace car was causing the problem.
  18. My X King Protection came with a note inside it, saying you must scrub with meths if you are going to use it tubeless.
  19. The weathersa website shows some rain there this week, but clearing for the weekend. Forecast is sunny and 26C on Sunday.
  20. Not sure where this was taken
  21. Doing the full marathon. Will be my first h2h.
  22. Hopefully I will get to ride there this Saturday before Hill 2 Hill. Absolutely love riding there. Hylton has done an incredible job on the trails!

  25. I've used both the genuine innovations plugs, and the weldtite plugs. The weldtite plugs are much bigger so will seal bigger holes. Have run hundreds of km's with plugs in my tyres, without loosing any air.
