  1. Hope they do. Because it won't be on supersport
  2. VERY much on topic! DSTV schedule seems to be a revolving dartboard at the moment. There have been other races that have magically appeared at the last minute, so who knows. Commercially, multichoice is obviously bleeding $$$ and I doubt cycling brings in much from however they measure it. There's some people at cecil nurse, omnico and marriot that seem to want to watch it, but I guess it's been a passion project. beyond that, who knows what the broadcasting goes for in an african backwater, will RCS take a last ditch offer at a lower price? i'm guessing this would be the first grand tour not to be covered in living memory
  3. have you tried evobikes? looks like they have a few https://evobikes.co.za/product/panaracer-gravel-king-sk-650b-x-53c-brown-sidewall/
  4. Trying to work out the gearing. 40/48 chainring and 11-28 cassette?
  5. https://www.procyclingstats.com/race/giro-d-italia/2024/startlist Didn't see this at first, De Bod gets a start. Will be his 4th GT, but has had two DNFs
  6. I have learnt that cycling betting is a waste of time. The odds are seriously stacked in the house favour, it's obviously a small market size and they don't want to take risks.
  7. I can see this is an legitimate excuse for someone who has just picked up a subs entry on a whim, but if you're in A batch you probably did sub 4:50 anyway with the longer detour added in. I'm sure there could be some sort of adjustment made for the seeding/qualification. A mistaken 45km route is a much better boat to be in than 38km.
  8. Well we got our injury, so while it is moot point a partially recovered Jonas and/or Remco against a TP who has Giro legs could make it a spectacle for the neutrals. The one asterisk here is that maybe TP might not need to go that deep to win the Giro. Big maybe.
  9. The bookies have TP as a dead cert. Which is bizarre because so many things can go wrong in a GT. While I would never wish it, if he crashed out of the first stage it could be the most exciting three week race we'd seen in yonks.
  10. Briefing volunteers correctly is crucial. I'm not sure how they work the clock car navigation but seems like a human error with no redundancy. Bit of melodrama in the comments. If this is your last chance of qualifying/ seeding for comrades then you left it to late.
  11. Getting nervous I haven't done enough. I think that's standard though. Did my "long run" yesterday, but had a stiff back all week after some fence building over the weekend. Never felt good, so jumped into the car at 36km. Happy with that decision.
  12. Having the official cut off at 8 hours does widen the fitness filter. I wonder if they would open it up to multiple days or even course?
  13. indeed. I have put 16" and 20" schwalbe tyres on the bikes before, thank you bike24.de for being on the ball.
  14. I'm most interested in how you knew they were there? * Where you shopping for a mail order bride and clicked on a link?
  15. I thought Comrades would be a race of attrition, it's more about the nutrition actually! With reference to ARWC specifically, being limited to 5kg per person (for the one resupply box) was a joke for that length of race. I almost froze to death and definitely starved because of this, (despite bending the rules by placing stuff in bike boxes after they had been weighed and transported). But I did have loads of "heavy" food to bring home with me. I don't think the ethos should be that lightweight expensive stuff is the only answer, it is very exclusionary.
  16. if you ask for a bikerack does he recommend the expensive swedish one?
  17. I figured as much....so general crowd, anyone doing this?
  18. looks like it's time to go to 24" Boytjie has thrashed his spez hardrock nicely, it has held up well. VID_20231111_160718.mp4 Happy to invest in getting a half decent bike as he will use it well. Happy to go 2nd hand for a decent bike or looking for deals on the new options (where's that spez 50% off sale now?!!). Are there any actual tubeless options locally available? Would the titan range (for interest sake) be able to tubeless convert these wheel sets, ghetto or bought? @Titan Racing Bikes https://titanracingbikes.com/bikes/hades-24-disc-my24/ looks like same wheels and tyres on both this and the team version.
  19. speaking of international. How many foreigners came out for this event? not exactly a world series is it...
  20. agreed. My point was eg. that 2 gels and 2 bananas might be the happy medium if you want energy and on a budget. - especially if you're at a race with waterpoints. That's good to know, happy in the knowledge you have spreadsheeted the cowturd out of this one! not sure where I heard this but it was a few years ago, apparently these were secret weapon in the propeleton. Guys would clear out the garage stores on a training rides that went too far.
  21. my singlespeed frame is a 26" Colin McRae Kona special edition...time to get that out the shed again!
  22. steve approves! https://sisunutrition.co.za/?product=sisu-2hr-fuel-cell-120-g What does "equivalent to 4 gels" mean? the all important question is how many g of carbs are in that 120g package, it's not answered.
  23. https://www.strava.com/pros/4822604 He's done 4500km+ this year. I think he has enough time in his schedule for play things. F1 drivers always had a rockstar lifestyle, plenty of scope for fitness time.
