  1. Caught one of my employees at Supersport Park a while back. He "went out to see a client in JHB and will probably only be back after-hours, you know, with the traffic and all". His figures are good so we had a laugh and a beer about it.
  2. I believe the question we should be asking is...Hard work and determination or natural ability?
  3. Dammit man, I wanted to be the paint hero of the day...
  4. There we go, see attachment
  5. Doesn't work.... Anyway, in your previous picture there were two black/greyish washers that's not in your new picture. You need those.
  6. How do I add a picture in this thing!!!!????
  7. Ask your LBS, they should have half a million lying around. Those washers aren't just there to raise the caliper, they also sort out the alignment, that's why they're so oddly shaped. Either that or someone just thought the shape is cool.
  8. There's your problem
  9. I think most of you are looking at the OP too literally. There will come a time that we physically won't be able to do the things we love. Whether it be chasing PB's are going for a Sunday afternoon ride. My grandfather is 85 and while his mind is still 100% his body is going, and going fast. Every time I see him I am reminded to live life to the fullest and enjoy every bit of it. Not just physically but in all realms of life. I think what the OP meant is reaching that turning point, knowing that you will never be smarter/stronger/faster than you are now. Knowing that it's all downhill from here (and not in a good way). Yes, you will still do the things you love but progressively it'll get more difficult until eventually it'll become impossible. And that thought, I find depressing.
  10. I'm 28 so luckily (hopefully) not for a while.
  11. Jeeeeesssss man, I was having a perfect day until you posted that utterly depressing thought. I think we all now it'll come sooner or later (hopefully later) but like our own mortality we try not to think about it.
  12. SILVER!!!!!!!
  13. First time posting in this thread but just had to share: We lost Duke this morning, he was a 16 year old Staffie, totally useless as a watchdog but much loved by all. He kept us up all night, wanting to go outside every hour. We thought it was his stomach that was a bit upset (it happened occasionally). Took him to the vet early this morning as his "stomach bug" lasted longer than usual. Turns out he had a stroke and his liver failed. Had him admitted and received the call about an hour ago. He will be missed.
  14. Luckily I brew my own so there's plenty
  15. Thought Johan might have a few tips and tricks but this will have to do. Thanks
  16. Hi hub, There used to be a sticky thread about servicing cup and cone hubs. I believe it was by Johan Bornman. Anybody know where I can find it? Searching doesn't seem to find it. Thanks
  17. That's why I don't cycle with a firearm, chances are that rather than you protecting yourself you get yourself killed and the next bike jacking takes place with two armed "perps" instead of one. Or they form another little group of three musketeers with a gun and bike jackings double in that area. Of course this would not be my problem since I would be dead but it would suck for the rest of you.
  18. There are definitely people trained to deal with situations like this who could and probably would have handled it differently. And by "trained" I don't mean know how to shoot a gun. Probably the biggest part of proper training is knowing when to shoot a gun. That being said, I'm not one of those people. I think he behaved exactly like he should have and exactly like I would have. At least that's how I would like to behave. I'd probably **** myself and blubber like a fool.
  19. Easy peasy, move to Gauteng, we don't even have a mountain so you'll have no problems here This might be a silly suggestion but why not invite the runners for an "expedition day" type of thing? Have them stand around and watch you maniacs (and I say this in a good way) come down the trail at speed. Tell them that that is what those specific trails are there for, that is why you guys help build and maintain them. As a last "demonstration" have someone ride down as fast as he can and hit a "pinata" on the way down. And then, ask some of them if they would like to be the pinata. This is all meant in jest of course but I think a little bit of understanding goes a long way. I don't think that most runners "don't respect the speed" or whatever, maybe they are just not thinking about that when they are running. I don't know the area at all but I bet if they are informed and warned, in a polite way, that they would run somewhere else. ... and I thought you capies where all so layed back...
  20. Started cycling again 3 weeks ago after a 2.5 year interlude. Did the half today and I seriously need to get fit again. 2:53 min. Great race but those hills nailed me :-)
  21. Gear cables need replacing, drove all over to get Jagwire kit (any reviews btw?) ended up at cajees centurion. No Jagwire but they have RavX. "The quality is much better, it's just cheaper than Jagwire because it's locally made".
  22. Deuter Crossbike 18l with 2l bladder. It's bigger than most but I'm like Mayhem. I listened when Scar sang to the hyenas.
  23. This is my first race in a LONG time so I don't have a board and I forgot to add one when I entered. Is there still some way of getting one?
  24. His contact details are somewhere on there: http://www.tshwane.gov.za/Services/Nature%20Conservation/Pages/Groenkloof-Nature-Reserve.aspx
