I am doing this stupidity. Anyone keen on a nice long slow ride Friday? Fourways area. Oh and Jozi peeps who need good distance: Suikerbosrand Saturday morning 7am. 2 - 3 laps. Unless anyone has a better idea.

I also use that stuff. Cheap as well. It also has other uses like for dry skin.

Not sure if someone has moaned about the stupid sticker numbers yet but yikkess those things were dangerous. Saw someone elses number go into a dude's brake calipers on a downhill. Logically they were a non-starter! Sweat and stickers do not work. At least they created jobs for people cause with the amount of stickers in town at 8am, I cant imagine the number at 10 or 11!!

Why do you need a group? That area is so stunning you just need to get out on your bike and ride and explore.

Yes... if it was a training ride or a real race, you would be in trouble with your chain. I am also hoping for dry and wind free but would like cool and overcast. Sunscreen can be arranged - will tell my contacts at half way (Moray drive corner) that if a strange Portuguese dude asks for sunscreen, its ok to give to you. So you need an EPO injected steak? Eish dude, just as well its a flat race!

You got a new chain so you will be fine. Go out there and kick butt on the first lap then have a chilled second lap and overtake some of them choc cow people. Weather will be like Shova weather - just better cause its Jozi. As for how you feel after.. Just have a steak the night before.

Ah drats!! Thought it was a timed event. My bad. FYI, charities and corporates are a relatively new concept compared to how long the event has been on. A fun ride is something you do on a Sunday with friends and dont pay for. This is a timed event that you pay for therefore a race. If its a fun ride for charities and corporates, 90% of the people riding should not be on the road and well, someone better tell the Elites and A bunch before Sunday. My comment was an observation based on how much climbing JHB has. The organisers have managed to find the only flat route in Jozi's northern suburbs. (Although they could move it to the South for a bit more flat)

I cant understand how the 94.7 has so little climbing. For a normal training ride we get way more climbing than the race. Even in our little chilled and short 70km we got more climbing than the race. Think they need to change the route next year to be more climbing and less sleep time.

Awesome! Maybe contact Bike Pure and see if they have a list of clean teams and get your name out there. For a team to be doing something like this, it shows that you are serious about anti-doping. Not having a team to come back to after the suspension (provided all pro teams do this), essentially means dope and you dont have a job and are thus suspended for life. Well done! Wish the European pros would take a stand like this.

Wow!! 4 pages of moaning. Guys, JB is trying to help here. Yes, likely a nice opportunity for him but a great opportunity for someone who wants to get in to a great industry. Not sure how many of you actually know JB but: He is a perfectionist which is what makes him such a great mechanic. He is also one of the nicest most genuine people I have ever met. Oh and he is straight forward and doesnt do BS. Now guys and gals: stop slamming someone who wants to help the industry and perhaps start spreading the word about this opportunity.

Why do you lot need parking tickets? Um... whats wrong with riding your bike to the start? If you too far get family to drop you, then get them to wait the 2 or 3 hours for you. That way you not having to drive after 5 or 6 beers at the finish...

Look at the Suunto. Polar tends to jump and loose signal. (Gave mine away eventually and have friends who had the same experience.) Suunto is uber reliable and the technology is really great. Also look at the offerings from Bryton (good value for money)

They shouldnt repair that road. Would be awesome to watch a bit of cyclocross on the tdf. Also agree that race radio should be out for the tour. Think it would add a historical element: let the guys really prove who the real winner is!

Get a Buzzrack. Bit more expensive but works like a bomb! Preferably get a stand on rack - much safer.

I will be there too. Have actually placed an order with a store in PMB for rain - just to the top of hill 1. Hope my order comes through. They said that it should.
