  1. SwissVan. Loved your sense in this post. I for one am one of those who took up cycling in a more racing manner after reading his book. And personally, it has changed my life for the better. Had it not been for the Lance Armstrong era, I know I wouldnt be a healthier person who loves cycling. The dude has done a lot for cancer awareness world wide. Show me 1 other individual who has done as much. Guy is a legend. Leave him alone. Maybe he doped, maybe he didnt. Who actually cares?? This lynching is likely to do more damage to cycling than good.
  2. @ Dale: KD - Stands for Killer Dog He is also fondly known as Munchie as he eats everything in sight! (Including 32Gi Accelerate tabs, water bottles, heart rate monitor straps etc) My worst thing that he eats are the garden hosepipe attachments. I put them out of range and he still manages to get to them!!!!
  3. This is my little guy. May be small but is super strong. And no, he is not a miniature doberman / min pin. He is a Township Special with an attitude to match. Only thing he respects is a bicycle (which he loves running next to when I take my mtb to the park).
  4. Personally, I used to get really ill after a race or hard training ride which has obviously negatively impacted on my cycling. Since changing my diet and adding quality nutrition as well as spending that extra moola and buying supplements until I found one that works for me (ie quality for me), I no longer have that problem. My diet now includes a fair chunk of protein (mainly red meat), a bit of carbs, lotsa green leafy veg and normal veg. Then on training rides I will use juice or if a hectic ride, race drink. After a race or hectic training ride I consume a recovery shake whilst sorting bike and self out (sorry but this gal likes to be clean asap) then after admin is sorted I eat something. My brand of choice is Biogen CytoPro RS as ride drink and Biogen Recovergen (love the apple flavour). The above works for me but we are all different so different products will work for different people.
  5. When we all ordered over the Groupon thing, I had nothing but good response when I tweeted Bryton. Sure this strike is messing with a lot of business owners. Fair enough to you though, like takealot, they should have a notification on the site for people who do not think that the strike could affect their order or who live under a rock and dont know about the strike. I dont watch the news but know about it...
  6. I won a pair at the one Nissan Series race. I now use those as my primary bibs instead of my Assos. They are amazing. Zero chaffing and are uber comfy. Will definitely buy Decca when I next buy.
  7. It is kinda Critical Mass idea. Actually planning this in line with CM dudes. Like the Ride of Silence idea! The point is to kinda respect the guys and gals who have lost their lives from being hit by cars.
  8. That is scary!! I am so going to go ahead and plan the peak traffic ride. Have a route, just need a date that doesnt clash with critical mass and a date when we all have money for dinner after. Motorists need to learn that we also have a right to the road. Mini hijack - if I organise this, would you guys prefer it casual as in we swarm traffic or do we do it 100% legal and ride single file? (single file idea is from this thread) Picture this: 100 or more cyclists riding down Sandton Drive whilst cars are hardly moving. Version 1: motorists are shocked at the swarm of cyclists coming past on both sides. Version 2: motorists see a quick blur as a line of 100+ cyclists go past. Personally think the swarming will get more attention.
  9. I got E. Am fitter than when I rode a C batch Shova but am content with this seeing as I took a VERY long break from racing. Looking forward to this one with all the training I am putting in.
  10. An old hubber used to use this stuff. It was brilliant and was our planned Sani drink. Then 32Gi came out and we stopped mixing our own ride drinks and used 32gi as ride drink and Biogen recovergen as recovery. That said, the Asker recipe is brilliant! Just didnt taste as nice as commercial products
  11. There are so many of us looking for routes such as Van Gaalens, Breedts, Suikerbos and other general rides so I figured why not have a spot for them. This is for roadies and mtb. (hope admin and the mods dont mind this) Please post your route with where it is and distance. I will post something later when I switch on my pc.
  12. I have an idea.... We are all looking for gps routes for rides so I am gonna create a post for routes only. That way we can have a database of routes for Suikerbos, Van Gaalens, Breedts, and pretty much everything else. That way idt folks have it and people looking for routes also have it, will that help ja?
  13. Cool idea! Start it on a long weekend and I am in for the leaving PTA bit. If you need tips on touring. Gimme a shout, I have done a bit and know the right people re kit etc. And do a Yellow Saddle course if you havent done one yet!
  14. definitely!!
  15. Looking forward to the day. Gonna be a blast. Just have to finish sorting out my duallie tomorrow. Havent ridden it in ages and well, its crying to go out - better obey before it attacks my road bike or my tourer / hardtail.
  16. Guys, you just have to wait now. Its absolute agony but you will get a delivery.
  17. Go chat to the guys at Dis-Chem they are clued up as to what he could use. But I would think that what Karma has said re what food to use is rather sound.
  18. You forgot that you can analyse every bit of your ride, you can export it, you can even upload directly to fittrack.
  19. So... Bryton must be looking for total domination cause by the end of these specials (between the Groupon one and Buycycle one), there will be more Rider 35's out there than Garmins!
  20. Is this a September fools joke? Either your computer is set up wrong or you took a wrong turn and did extra distance. I also recorded 93 like the others.
  21. Love mine!! Used it for Dome2Dome yesterday and it ROCKED!! Best gift I have ever bought myself. Think I want to get a speed sensor now so I can use it on idt as well (think I messed up my idt computer with the cable ties for the Bryton Cadence but will see later).
  22. Got mine!! Reception had signed for it but hadnt called me.
  23. My tracking thing also says the same... It means its in a truck.
  24. Shweet. So its hurry up and wait for all of us. This waiting is horrible.
