  1. I love my Vittoria Barzo 2,35 front and Saguaro 2,2 rear. Out of interest, I see people are using the Mezcal on the rear - major differences between the Mezcal and the Saguaro as a rear tyre?
  2. All of it! That's certainly a very impressive, light-weight build. Just shows what can be done with stock parts and a big budget! Although, you can't do much offroad with those tyres...
  3. Agreed, always received fantastic service from Spez Lynnwood.
  4. Thanks for sharing your experience! I also had terrible service from the same Spez shop over the past few months. They used to be brilliant and would go out of their way to assist (I'm in Joburg and they have helped me on many occasions), but recently, it took 5 months to buy a hanger for my wife's SL4
  5. OP, if I may ask, why would you be willing to spend that amount of money and get a wattbike? For less than that, you can you get a Wahoo Kickr, a climb, a headwind fan and an indoor bike... I know how I would spend the money if I had R50k available
  6. It looks to me like you are using the incorrect rotor size for the adaptor - check the size of the rotor against what is printed on the adaptor
  7. E13 cassettes (9-46) work well with the XX1 rear derailleur.
  8. Rapide chainrings work well and they are cost effective: https://www.rapide.co.za/product/rapide-forged-dm-ring-6mm-offset-v2-0/ If your bike is non-boost, then you require the 6mm offset.
  9. Will send the invoice over shortly
  10. Start with this - it's some of the best money you can spend!
  11. Hi Sid, welcome to the hub. While building a bike is really fun and if you are prepared to wait, you will get some really good deals, but in general, building your own bike is normally slightly more costly (I prefer to build my own bike, so this thread makes sense to me). That being said, don't be afraid to look at complete bikes on the hub which will meet most of your requirements that are within your budget. You can always sell of a few components and purchase others to meet your requirements. Some examples: https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/road-bikes/423944/swift-ultravox-rs-1 https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/road-bikes/423837/team-edition-cannondale-super-six-evo-himod https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/road-bikes/411379/giant-tcr-adv-pro-0-di2 https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/road-bikes/398700/bh-quartz-disc-ultegra-di2 https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/road-bikes/423291/cannondale-supersix-evo-2018-neg https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/road-bikes/424619/madone-slr-9 I wish you the best of luck with your build / purchase - a new bike is the best!
  12. Therein lies the problem - 3.5bar?!?!
  13. Pro racers are required to ride with two powers meters (the trainer and an additional unit) to make sure that the numbers are similar.
  14. I don't agree with that statement - my quarq is very accurate with the L-R balance. As already mentioned, it uses the onboard accelerometer to determine whether the right or the left arm is measuring power. I have compared it with pedals and it is very similar.
  15. You can always look at a stages left crank arm or similar. If you have cranks with the same arm length and BB (GXP, BB30m shimano etc.), then it would be a case of undoing the crank arm and moving it over to the other bike.
  16. You're doing it wrong - you shouldn't be able to look at the view during your suffering session...
  17. They were running towards him, so all he needed to do was move over 0,5m - it really wasn't that difficult...
  18. What's going on with that stem?
  19. Agreed with all that has been said - the cradle is chaos at the moment. Rode there yesterday and the number of inconsiderate people abounds. Just after the Lion park circle, there was a group of runners (around 15) running neatly in the cycle lane and being very well behaved. Some chop on a bike refused to move over and when the runners asked politely for him to please give some space, he starts swearing and pulling the middle finger at them. We then rode past him and asked him what his issue was and all he could say is that runners don't belong there and why should he have to share his space etc. What a ch*p. It's amazing how selfish people are! Don't even get me started on how people ride when they try and sit on the back of your group. Say good morning, stay at the back and don't ride like a tw*t, it's not difficult if you are a decent human being... People really need to be considerate of others and not just care about themselves. Mark my words, there is going to be a massive fight occurring in the cradle in the next few weeks - it's just getting worse and more and more people are riding... Don't be a d**s, be lekker! Edit: Spelling
  20. Thankfully, my wife fully understands my riding and often joins me. We have done many events together, even multiday such as Berg and Bush. She was raised in a family of sporting people and I often ride with her dad (bonus points here). She is also a strong independent woman, so as long as I am considerate of her and her time, eveyone is happy. The only catch is I have to do all of the bike maintenance (I enjoy this, so it's all good)... between us, we have 8 bikes
  21. Buy a bike that makes you want to ride. If that bike has rim or disc brakes, costs R10k or R100k, is red or blue or black, buy it, ride it and enjoy it. It really is that simple!
  22. I used to ride the same setup and never had an issue. OP, as already mentioned by others, there is likely an issue with your rear derailleur.
  23. No, as long as the light comes on when you screw on the battery compartment, it will register on your Garmin. My mate had the same problem you are describing and even after installing a new battery compartment, it would work intermittently. He tried everything, including resoldering the connection and eventually gave up
