  1. Look, we're extrapolating from CTM to CTCT, which is not guaranteed. So let's wait until CTCT actually makes a decision, then we can dissect it
  2. If I read that correctly, you'll be tested as you enter the expo, so not really a "take the day off" type thing. You have to go to registration anyway, so just adds a few minutes to that trip. Antigen tests give you a result in minutes.
  3. Local price (R595)
  4. Where? I'm looking here https://www.capetowncycletour.com/lifecycle-week/ctct/race-entries/ And seeing this: Edit: Nevermind, found the site by clicking "International Entries". So I'm entered now ????
  5. Ok, I'm Cape Town based, so only looking for an entry. So if that becomes an option, please let me know.
  6. Are subs allowed now? It's very hard to work out based on their website and social media...
  7. Asking as a complete noob (I come from a trail running background) , is a race like this open to the general public? I get the impression it's more of a "pro" /"semi pro" vibe (or at least you need to be part of a team?) Just trying to understand how the cycling racing landscape works.
  8. I was also wondering this. Can't find any info, but still see people selling entries popping up every day in the classifieds...
  9. Hehe, nice, glad it helped. Keep an eye out as well, they tend to have specials every now and then, and they're at that price point where you feel "why not another pair?" ????
  10. I got a pair of 30 South Original RX last year. Pretty cheap, which is nice, given you'll inevitably break/lose them soon enough https://30south.co/product/originals-rx They've also got more "performance" focused models too, if that's your vibe https://30south.co/product-category/sunglasses/performance-wear Nice to support a local company when possible, so I'll probably keep buying from them.
  11. Genuine question (assuming you're not joking): why? What was in those 250km that would have broken this ~70k bike?
  12. Thanks, I'll let you know if I don't come right (turns out I'm going to Bridge on Saturday, so might pick one up there anyway, since it'll be useful to have)
  13. Anyone in Cape Town have a spare cassette lockring removal tool lying about? Just asking before I head to the LBS on the weekend to see if they have one...
  14. Next time (Truth be told, I didn't even consider it, I was too locked in on not putting my wheel through the dog crap) Have your people contact my people, we'll reimburse you for your time ????
  15. After the long ride on Saturday in flats and straps, I finally succumbed to the need for proper shoes and clips. Of course, first thing one must do is ride round and round (and round) the garden, ensuring you know how to clip in/out (dodging dog poo along the way ????). Successful at not falling off this far ???? VID-20210822-WA0013.mp4
  16. Haven't gone for a ride in the rain, but it does claim to be waterproof. https://www.takealot.com/rockbros-waterproof-bike-frame-bag-under-top-tube-as-043/PLID70722384 Apart from that, it works well, it's just a lot bigger than expected (I just wanted something for a jacket and a few jungle oats bars), but will be good for my eventual planned longer gravel adventures.
  17. Still new to this, so building distance week by week. This week was first 50k. Lessons learned: get some proper pedals/shoes ????
  18. You can also go stalk Rae on Strava if you want. He did the 2-day a few weeks ago... ????
  19. After a month of the Southern Suburbs tar, I finally got to test the Rook on some gravel around Franschhoek. It did not disappoint????
  20. Italy: 3:42.032 (New World Record) Denmark: 3:42.198 After 1000m: Italy ahead by 0.220 After 2000m: Italy ahead by 0.142 After 3000m: Denmark ahead by 0.867 After 4000m: Italy ahead by 0.166 That doesn't even tell the story of the last 1000m, where Denmark lead by about 0.5s with 3 laps to go, only to have Italy bring that down, lap by lap, to take it on the last.
  21. Team Pursuit Final... I have no words... Wow.????
  22. Just watched this yesterday, if you're willing to DIY it a bit:
  23. Also worth throwing into the mix: the Forerunner 945. Essentially a 6 Pro without a metal case, and far cheaper. Has body battery, full map nav, garmin pay, music, alles.
  24. Dad's bike: Took mine for a quick spin this evening, its very nice. You run out of gears a bit in the flatlands of Pinelands, but that's not surprising, and I'm not really racing around anyway. Thanks for all the advice and kind words, much appreciated!
