  1. Yeah, rather not name and shame the person on this forum. If perhaps you are incorrect, we don't want someone's name publicly tarnished!
  2. This is just infuriating!!! Its one thing for an accident to happen, but it is completely unacceptable for the driver to disappear afterwards. The cyclist could die because the driver is too scared to take responsibility! I really hope they find and nail this guy. And I really hope the cyclist recovers and recovers quickly.
  3. I have signed up. Now all I need is to load up the info. Will be fun keeping track of this.
  4. Those are some useful guidelines. Good to keep them in mind.
  5. The forums and classifieds drop down boxes at the top are awesome!
  6. Placed my vote! Can we try not too relive the argument of bad cyclist, good cyclist, ignorant and indifferent motorist? Rather go and vote and claim the cyclists have a right to a road. Just because some drivers drive badly people are not arguing that all motorists don't have a right to the road. The same for cyclists, just because some cyclists ride badly it does not imply that all cyclists don't have a right to the road. We are all rightful road users.
  7. Hi Niner Admin said on the update thread that they are busy reorganizing the structure to make the site faster. It will take about a day to sort it all out. I assume the link you are looking for is still in that process.
  8. For a change my avatar is actually showing. For some or other reason it never displayed in the past. Also wanting to know, how to set the latest post to be viewed first. Overall I like the fresh look, but it will take some getting use to.
  9. Yesterday I had a really pleasant experience from Cyclefactory. Last year in November / December I went to Cyclefactory's Birthday Bash where they had several specials including 20% down on all their clothing. I was looking for first ascent shorts and a rain jacket. They didn't have my size in stock. Ian said they would order and I would still get it at the reduced price. For various reasons they didn't get the stock before I went on holiday and when I came back they were out of stock and so on. Anyway yesterday they had the stock in. I reminded them that Ian promised me the 20% discount. They had no hassle in giving me the discount. I was really pleased. A big thanks to Cyclefactory for great service!
  10. I can confirm that. Yesterday I started cycling without my unit having found signal. It took quite a while for it to connect. It shows as it is looking for signal and the unit had to restart a couple of times. I just didn't feel like waiting.
  11. I have a Forerunner 305. It takes anything between 1min to 10min to pick up the signal. I commute to Cape Town CBD and in the CBD it takes longer because of the tall buildings. At home it takes about 2-3min. I switch it on a couple of minutes before I leave. Once you get into the habit, it is not really a problem. I have not lost signal in and around trees, but yes it does lose signal when going underneath a bridge, but picks it up quickly again afterwards. Thus far, no real problems.
  12. Yeah I saw the cops too. End of last year there was a couple of them on MTBs doing the patrols. Looks like the find going a bit easier on the Motorbike
  13. Guilty as charged. I started in N group and was hammering it up Ou Kaapse Weg, caught up with a bunch of L group riders on the way up. Tried to keep with a couple of a bunch that was just too fast for me. In the end I used most of my energy on the first 20km. From there on I just didn't have the legs. Used the short walk as a bit of recovery.

    Cricket......

2 more wickets for a series victory. Hopefully, we won't need to bat again. The Sri Lankans have really put up a fight today.
  15. +1 Did my first commute again this morninga and it was great. Need to get the legs going again. Had way too much of a holiday from the cycling.
  16. Its a good idea, I just don't see myself forking out the cash for that.
  17. That is pretty cool. My only criticism is that the kid is behind you and there is very little interaction between yourself and the child once your on the ride. That is what is great about the Ibert and the Weeride. This however is far better than the units mounted over the rear wheel.
  18. Oh, btw. We looked at buying the Weeride overseas and having it shipped in, but buying locally was cheaper and quicker. We bought ours at Canal Walk City Cycles for R1500. Another thing, have a look at the Weeride website. They have a video clip showing how to use it, how it works and the benefits thereof. After having had a look at the videoclip I was convinced that the Weeride was the right one to get.
  19. No, we use ours. Just bought it this year Plus we have a second little one on the way So we will be using it for a couple of years to come.
  20. I recommend the Weeride. We have a Weeride and we are very happy with it. I can't say that I have tried the Ibert, but the Weeride does appear much more sturdy. There is several threads with comments on this. I recommend you do a search and you will see load of comments. Good luck in making your choice. BTW, the little ones love it
  21. Must say, its been fun reading these posts. I love my commute. Its so much better than taking the car or train.
  22. That's just evil!
  23. Regarding SAA, this is probably true most of the time, but NOT ALL of the time. My last couple of flights with SAA didn't go too well. Once I was in Germany, SAA went on strike and my flight back to SA was delayed by 2 days. I was one of the lucky ones waiting only 2 days. The other time (JHB-CPT) SAA changed the boarding gate without notification so that half the people went to the wrong boarding gate. It took them 2 hours to sort out the mess. I actually paid extra money to have an earlier Sunday afternoon flight. So much for that
  24. As an employee you have no right to a bonus, unless its in you contract, and you should be thankful for what you get not moan about what you don't get. If you are not happy with the company policy, make a move. And as said before, its none of your business what the directors do with their money. As a director I believe it is a good principle to first look after your people and then after yourself. I think its irresponsible to splash out on new toys and home improvements and then tell your staff, "Sorry, there's nothing left for you". As a director you are under no obligation to give a bonus, but to behave in such a way just shows that you are a lousy person. You may not care using / abusing others for your own benefit and that's just life. No one can really change that. I suppose it depends on what your values are and what you want to be remembered for.
  25. I must say, whether you call it a 13th cheque or a bonus, what difference does it make. It means extra cash at the end of the year. My principle regarding the nanny is, if I get a bonus she gets a bonus and her bonus is proportionally the same magnitude as my bonus. I probably would give a bonus anyway, even if I didn't get a bonus, but thus far I have received a bonus every year
