  1. What a ball ache. i was always a tapatalk baby. I’m finding this site so much more of clunky.
  2. Agreed. But, not all ANT + dongles are equal. I think the most reliable one is the Garmin.
  3. I think its by design, to actively discourage OT chat by shoving it in the background. So to speak.
  4. Any update on the tapatalk reactivation?
  5. Thanks Bennie! We got bike apartheid in this house. Mountain bikes in the garage, road bikes molly coddled inside.[emoji3]
  6. So seeing as the OP’s issue is resolved, I was wondering if I could hijack the thread for a sec with a question. My mountain bike sleeps vertically on a wall hook. When i take it down the brake levers are all mush, and go right down to the handlbar. Takes a few pumps and then all is good, no issues at all. Except the other day just after porting up a very steep little hill, I had the same. No brakes, pump pump, and all good again. Does this mean that my brakes need to be bled?
  7. Good choice. Only comment. I hope your’e doing the lay bye with a large reputable bike shop with financial muscle, like a cycle lab.
  8. Yes, your understanding is correct. But, what goes down in a shop is regulated by the CPA (check out section 23), which does not apply to a private seller. Anyway, Old Man 1 v Hub 0 [emoji3] @op, the ad you responded was not an offer open for an acceptance. It was just an invitation to make an offer, so your notion of a “legally binding” contract is something of a misperception I think.
  9. You got this! When do you have time to ride?
  10. Get the Kikr climb. That should make things interesting!
  11. No, this is sif, particularly as far as the bibs are concerned. Even If i just ride around the block, everything gets put into the machine immediately.
  12. Mr Speaker. Please would you take another look at the people actually in Parliament and re-evaluate your position on this. I feel we would do a better job. In fact, I nominate ICM as Minister for Ice Cream. I would like to tender to supply. Its just that I don’t want those poor Cuban engineers to go home without a decent supply King Cone. Kit Kat flavour. (I will get finance at 75% from Ajay). This latter disclosure keeps this post on topic, I guess.
  13. Look, I ain’t gonna dig too deep, just to win an esoteric argument on the internet. But to answer your question, I actually have never bought a used bike, but I have a Trek 3700 entry level hardtail, (which is heavy as lead) and a cheap Fuji Royale Forza hybrid, both of which I bought and enjoyed for about a year or 2, when I first got into cycling, when my resting hr was about 300. I did my first 94.7 on the Fuji, and it was the funnest and hardest and most fulfilling race of all the ones i have done since. You cant put a price on that. I still have both these bikes, which hang dutifully in my garage, happily collecting the finest Gauteng dust one could wish for. It gives me oodles of joy every time i gaze upon them and cogitate over all the finance charges I never paid on them.
  14. True. A bike is an investment in your health and yourself. If, as you say, its used regularly. But a used cheap bike Is as much an investment in your health as a brand new fancy one. So you can “put a price on that”. A much cheaper price, sans finance charges. So, Your argument is a faux one. Actually, its more of a subjective justification for making a poor financial decision.
  15. I am sure I saw @notsobigben post somewhere that his son fixes ebikes. Bennie, plug it here man!
  16. Well, I guess you could run an ant+ only chest strap, and run zwift on ble only enabled device, which would do trick. But, why?
  17. Me too, though for the life of me I can’t figure out why. Maybe it’s becoming old hat?
  18. With work hours and pressure in the last week or so, this has translated into slackness on the bike. Or more accurately, off the bike. Which did not bode well for stage 4, which I did over the weekend. It was tough. After reading about it from other hubbers, I tried a change bike strategy on entering the jungle. And then change back to road bike afterwards. I probably lost 2 minutes in all. At first I thought it was counter productive to stop, but after a few km after changing to the scott mountain bike, I started to catch people, and lots of them, all on road bikes. I made up 60 places, though i doubt I passed 60 people. I find one is promoted as the long rides drag on due probably to the rate of attrition as people get gatvol and dnf. Tonight I did stage 5, after a long day, and suffered like a pig going up to the radio tower. It was a long evening in the saddle, and the garmin app announcing my average speed and hr every 3 minutes through my bluetooth speaker started to make me the moer in with the thing. I still have stage 3 to do, but will have to wait for the make up days. I hope its not as long or tough as 4 and 5 were. Question for the informed. If you re-do stages, do you still get the double xp points?
  19. Lol, Strains of: I never took it, ok maybe they gave it to me in hospital a year before, ok i took it improve my mental health, and i took prohibited substances, with no TUE, but damned if i will say when [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]
  20. Thanks! Can you please post a link to the hearing report?
  21. To @madmarc’s point, does anyone know what she actually took (as in brand name), and what, if any performance benefits it really gave her. Shame, I feel for her. She has obviously been through one helluva rough time.
  22. Ag, thanks Bennie. [emoji3][emoji120] Its ok, on reflection, I deserve the flak, it was a stupid and injudicious thing to say, so I will take it like a man, and go ride my bike. Without coming down hard, or going to [emoji541]
