  1. I have before, but my measurements could have changed when I changed my bars. I am thinking of making an appointment with Jurien Swart at the Sport Science Institute to get it re-done. I think it costs about R340, not quite exactly sure though. ANyone know if CWCycles does a decent setup and costs?? Thought about extra padding on the bars, but I got small hands, dont like the feel of too much under my palms when I am riding Thanks for the suggestions from everyone though, lets see what happens and will let you know what the outcome is.
  2. Of late, been getting really bad handlebar palsy in my left hand. To the point of, I cannot feel my fingers and find it VERY difficult to change between large and small front chainring. Once off the bike and after a little while, feeling returns to normal, albeit with a little less power in my fingers for a day or two. Did quite a bit of reading up about it a while ago when I first got it, in my right hand and changed my bike setup a little, bought aero bars, invested in Giro gloves, all to try and alleviate the symptoms. Now of late, it starts pretty much as soon as I get on the bike, 5kms down the road and I can feel my fingers starting to get the first pins and needles, change hand position, that alleviates it for a while, but then my hand position is on top of the bars. As soon as I go to reach the top of the hoods and have a better riding position, guess what, along come the pins and needles again.... It is driving me MAD!!! Any suggestions out there, any advice from fellow sufferers??
  3. I did the Malanshoogte to past the dairy, down to the gravel road and back twice on Saturday morning, the climb back up fromt he diary is a bit of a toughie, well at least I though so anyway, got my sigma percentage to 8% max on one part of that climb! Supposed to be doing the longer route on Saturday, but I do tend to agree with you, even I have done the Wellingon route a few times and I am not a "racer". Still want to get int he full route, but maybe int hebeginning of the year. Gonna see how I feel closer to the time, have to contend with a couple of intervals over Malans tomorrow morning.
  4. You lucky you are on leave already and some of us (me) have some catching up to do to your fitness and strength levels
  5. Looking at this bunch of hubbers on the ride, I am going to have to ride my socks off on Saturday Going to be a HARD ride for me????
  6. WOW!!! Dream JOB!!!! PLEASE Can I apply?????
  7. If Only my wife got a BIGGGGG bonus I think I just fell in love all over again, my wife might get jealous so I better keep my mouth shut
  8. Yip Yip, this ride I WILL make. See you Saturday morning at 6am
  9. Are you running your chain with a chain link? I had a similar problem, felt like I was slipping gears, looked at my chain wear (fine), put on a new cassette and same problem. Discovered a short while later that the chain lnk I was running was for a 9 speed chain, instead of running a narrower 10 speed link! Small problem, could have been descovered earlier and saved me some money
  10. Thank you all hubbers for your advice. Looks like I am going to go the pedals and training wheels off route. They have both been riding their smaller bikes and know the pedalling motion pretty well, now just to work ont he balance. SO looking forward to getting them riding on their own properly, cant wait
  11. Ha Ha, now I can get some off the bike training at the same time
  12. Now that is EXACTLY what I was thinking of doing, the exact thing that I have read about and seen. So it worked for you and your kids? That is excellent, I am soo excited for them and I will have a couple more riding partners Might need some rope to attach them to Daddy's bike though
  13. Your grandson is soo cute. I am really excited at the prospect of getting them riding on their own. they both absolutely love cycling, come down to all the starts of the PPA events and look at all the cyclists. The interest is there, now to just get it right. I am going to try my older daughterm on this method i have been watching on Youtube. Taking the pedals off, getting her to master running the bike along and lifting her feet off the ground, working on her balance. Seems to work a charm. As for my little son, trainign wheels are going to stay on and I will lift them slightly on a weekly babsis, so that he doesnt get reliant on them for support.
  14. Evening Fellow Hubbers, So, every morning I get back from my ride I get asked the question by my kids, "Daddy, did you go riding with Andy Schleck this morning?", to which I reply, sorry kids, not this time So, Mommy and Daddy Clause have decided that it is about time to get our kids on Bikes PROPER SOOO, Dad went off, bought my little guy a 12' (he's nearly 3) and my daughter a 16' with V-Brakes, little Raleigh (She is nearly 5). I have been doing a bit of reading and checking out how to get these little guys on the road and riding without training wheels ASAP (taking off the pedals and getting them to balance, stopping themselves from falling with their feet). Just wanting to know, how did you get your kiddies riding? Any tips and suggestions??? Watch out all other hubbers little ones, the next Andy / female equivalent is coming from MY house
  15. I am in exactly the same boat, I am dreading even looking at Hels with cold legs on Sunday That being said, I cannot forsee the first 7km going very well for me as it takes me a good 30min to get warm and into a "good zone"
  16. Have also done a fair amount more investigation. The Shifters need a defferent amount of tension in order to change the RD, so that would need to be changed, otherwise, you can still run the Cassette and FD and the Crank. Seems a bit pointless though, might as well do a full SRam Red upgrade ans sell off my Ultegra SL's
  17. Just a quick question folks, I really like to look of the Sram Shifters but am running 2009 Ultegra SL all round at the moment. Just wanting to know whether to Sram shifters are going to be compatible with my groupset, would the double tap system still function? Would it have a negative influence on my shifting? Any guidance would be sincerely appreciated.
  18. Hi there. Moving to Edgemead at the beginning of November. Another guy already living there also looking for early morning "motivation". It is the intention to do Tiekie Draai 3 mornings a week. Average 27 - 30km/h. Tiekie at about 20 - 22km/h. PM me and we can chat about getting you hooked up with my mate in the interim, and I will join you guys in 2 weeks
  19. Likewise, seems to get a lot of "bend" when cranking it on the trainer!
  20. WTF! I dont know whether to be Angry or Cry. I am apalled!
