  1. Over and above the awesome look it does have a few extra perks in my opinion: 1) It can be dissembled and rebuilt to suit your needs; 2) The woodwork is extremely basic!; 3) I can't weld for **** so no welding *Edit: Fixed my weekend spelling.
  2. I just moved into a new place, unfortunately I'm still renting. I am however someone who believes that it is worth upgrading your living standard even if it is to the permanent advantage of someone else, so I'm willing to make a few permanent upgrades. So far on my DIY list for the next 2/3 months are: 1) Industrial pipe shelf 2) Industrial pipe desk and reloading bench 3) A firepit outside I will be starting with the shelf, then the desk and lastly the firepit as I will probably have some red tape to get around which I expect will be somewhat costly. Any recommendations on the above and what to try/not to try? Regards L
  3. Looking good there Mr Potgieter!! If you don't mind please post the link to the recipe you followed, I have found that not all recipe's online are equally successful. On a different note, I tried my hand at Honey and mustard chicken with some tagliatelle pasta fried in burnt butter and sage sauce. Very tasty indeed!!
  4. Hey guys For those of you that's available please drop by the Christmas Market Sunday evening (27 Nov 2016). http://south-africa.siguez.com/kyalami/hollyberry-hall/hollyberry-christmas-market?fed9a9gfc2 PS. Hulk, Rolo and I will be attending and working at the English and French Bulldog Rescue stands. Regards H
  5. On the opinel I was thinking of buying some Bohler steel, copying the blade shape and then have it hardened professionally. I have tried my hand at a fixed blade before, I used an old table grinder steel disc, cut the shape and then did a DIY annealing and hardening on it. However working for harder metals like the Bohler does have it's own challenges
  6. Ooooh that is purdy!! It is still a dream of mine to build myself a custom Opinel, however my wood working skills is somewhat lacking.
  7. Sheesh that is nice!! Where did you get those mag-strips? For those of you itching, Takealot has a Spyderco Delica for a very good price (that is IF it is an original). I do note that they have a return policy so assume if it's not you can send it back. http://www.takealot.com/spyderco-delica-full-flat-ground-black/PLID41459497
  8. That is a very cool looking knife!! Something I really like from Opinel, it's a knife designed to be practical. Easy to use, easy to sharpen, cheap to buy and maintain and looks cool when it gets the odd stain.
  9. Haha brilliant dogs those! I have a very soft sport for a Bull-terrier however my better half is Sh!t scared of them due to her mother's influence. I had horse riding lessons at a lodge in Rustenburg (back in 2000/2001). The owner of the lodge use to have a few at the house, and only one called "Spookie" was socialized (due to safety reasons with all the random people coming and going he wanted the others to be more protective). So time went by, Spookie would be all smiles with everyone coming and going. Until one day... The owner had some renovations done and the scaffolding collapsed on top of him and Spookie (luckily no serious injuries to either of them), as Spookie opened his eyes, the first person he saw was wearing an "overall" (can't remember the colour) and from that day you could wear any other overall, but dare wear the wrong colour and you're lunch!
  10. Only a pleasure and a privilege!! She's such an awesome soul! We go to loads of food markets, farm markets etc and she absolutely loves it! She's the exact opposite of medusa, can't walk past her without giving her some love and attention, and all of this of course goes hand in hand with a bite of whatever that person is eating at the moment. An update on Hulk: I am super proud to let you know that our application was successful and he'll be joining us on a permanent basis. Will post some photo's of the 2 in the morning.
  11. Hey guys. My apologies for being somewhat absent on TheHub for the last month or so. Here's an update: Rolo is still not keen on mornings!! She still loves her walks and playtime in the evening. Unfortunately age has kicked in and her hearing is deteriorating, as per her last Vet check she is in brilliant health , apart from the hearing. We have however managed to teach her sign language, which includes "sit", get in/out the car. Begging her to get off my bed is still somewhat challenging, however this was not easier when she could hear me!! Little Hulk joined the family over the weekend, he is a French Bulldog which was rescued over the weekend and my GF and I stepped in as a foster family. He's climbed into our hearts extremely quick and gets along with Rolo. We have decided that this will be a failed foster and applied for him to join the family on a permanent basis, so please hold thumbs that he stays!!

    RIFLE

I tend to have the same feeling towards cammo. However the big, thick, nice and warm Sniper jackets only come in cammo , so this is the only piece of camo I wear...

    RIFLE

Have a look at CZ and Howa. Both decent firearms that will give you years of joy! Calibre's to consider: 30330830-06The above are all very good, accurate rifles. Personally I would get the 30-06, it is an accurate rifle, versatile and I have seen accurate (read head) shots at 400m+ on springbuck in Namibia. 308 is also a brilliant rifle with recorded shots up to 1km... This is also the choice of calibre for most bisley competitors.
  14. oooh that is nice!!! Can you give us some more details?
  15. Nothing beats a printed book. However availability of certain books need to be taken into account when setting up such a pole. Unfortunately a few of the books I have read lately is either a "special order" book, like "The Last Dive" (the book store said they can order it but my take up to 3 months) or not in print anymore, like "Raising the Dead". So in these to instances one do not have much of a choice, so I settle for reading on my iPad with the Kindle app, it allows for lower backlight settings than the standard book app on iStore so less tired eyes...
  16. Just started with 'The Last Dive". I'm only on page 20 odd now, but more comments to follow soon
  17. Dammit beat me to it!
  18. Google is your friend: http://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/cwc-bicycle-repair-stand
  19. Very cool! Looks like a nifty little thing and loads better than a BIC when the sh#t hits the fan!!
  20. Very cool!! What exactly is a tactical pen? Yah the top one is something special! It is giraffe bone scales impregnated with a red resin and polished to give that rich white and red colour!
  21. It seems as if this thread lost some steam. Didn't anyone get a nice knife for Christmas? Here are some very pretty knives I will be picking up next week All made by Harris Engelbrecht
  22. Lunch for today is pretty boring, Tuna mayo sarmy with diced rocket.
  23. Rolo definitely not liking the idea of waking up on this rainy morning...
  24. Not quite such a destructive force of nature. However she does make this face when you don't share your food... Which does cause me to hand over half a hamburger or whatever is for lunch/supper...
  25. The ultimate face of betrayal! She had to go to the Vet yesterday afternoon due to a slight ear infection. To say the least, I was not her favorite person!
