  1. Lets not get ahead of ourselves here. But I reckon the one on the 26th of Nov might see me!
  2. Brilliant thanx guys!! I will start off with the Speedo program and give it a go. How does the swimming fitness curve go? Would it be possible to go from zero to midmar in 4 months? @CBlake: I'll give Heia a call and get some info. I have scuba dived Emmarentia in the winter with the Polar Bear dive, no death or disease but damn that thing gets cold!!!
  3. Good morning guys. My fiance is keen on doing the Midmar 2019, which means that I will most probably join her as I know how much it sucks training alone!! Now swimming is not my strong side, sinking/scuba diving sure, swimming not so much. Here goes my questions: 1) Is there qualifying swims or is it like the 947 where you can just enter? 2) What is the minimum training that one needs to do as preparation? 3) Where does one do this preparation in GP? 4) Is there a specific store in Pta/Jhb you can recommend we visit for some more info and also where to buy gear?
  4. If you do get one please post a short review of it.
  5. Just for you the made a smooth option as well
  6. Honey badger claw maybe?
  7. Hmmm, making things hard here . If money was no issue, and it's purely for SD, I would then go for the Spyderco Civilian. One mean looking monster!!
  8. Then I would rather go for the Keramin or some other lightweight Karambit, initially I thought the Karambit is a bit more of a gimmick than anything else but it seems to hold it's weight in the SD EDC groups. And as a utility it can be backed up by a Deejo folder, super lightweight so shouldn't be an issue with creating a heavy EDC setup.
  9. I think you should consider it's main use before buying. Personally I have (for the second time) the M16-01 (the smooth spear point), as a utility knife I do not like the tanto blade shape nor do I ever use the serrations. So a smooth even blade is my only option when it comes to my work knives, my CRTK and Spyderco Delica 4 are my 2 daily carry options which fulfill all my needs. If you primarily use it as a self defense weapon I do believe the tanto to be a better "stabby" option.
  10. Losing a CRKT is always painful!! I lost mine on a scuba dive, was a week of morning and then I just opted for a new one.
  11. Nice!! I have the previous version, awesome bikes indeed!!! Will swing by a shop tomorrow and have mine weighed and will let you know. Guessing it's around 12kg's
  12. That looks mean!!! Is that the new 2018 STR frame?
  13. Mine is due next year!! That is if I can make up my mind on what to do ito colour.
  14. I have a handlebar, headset and possibly a stem you can have. Issue is I'm located in Kyalami, GP. If you can arrange shipping you can have it.
  15. We're just stronger over here But what difference does the oval make?
  16. I use this site as a reference: http://surlybikes.com/info_hole/spew/spew_single-speed_gearing_101 and then use gear inches to calculate the resistance: Gear inch = (Diameter of drive wheel in inches) x (# of chain ring teeth) # of cog teeth if I'm correct the 34/20 setup is actually a bit lighter that 32/18. 29" x 34 20 = 49.3" travel per rotation 29" x 32 18 = 51.55" travel per rotation
  17. Hahahahahahah!!! Ok I see your point, in that case build yourself an epic steel machine!! Steel front with a lekker set of wheels and the Hope bar!!
  18. The wider rim and tyre should make a big difference. Also it depends on what you're looking for and willing to spend. To spend a boatload to "soften" the front IMO is a bit silly if you can get a 80mm travel fork (or even a Lauff). I went with the idea of making peace that the bike is a rigid an to Man The F Up!! So the front has a few cheap tweaks like the bar and grips, with a nice 2.25 (looks the same as a 2.3 to me) Vittoria Saguaro tyre. To get a nice wide rim is always a good idea!! This is next on my shopping list. However if you are keen on the rigid and spending a bit more I would go with a carbon MK35 fork (this absorbs a fair bit) and a carbon bar (if you're keen on the Hope I reckon it will be an awesome piece to add).
  19. Nice!! I come from a 130mm dual sus, so took some time to get used to it. I run a rigid carbon up front (MKM35), handle bar marketed for it's trail chatter absorption (what ever that is but check it out: Kore Durox), and some ESI grips. I find that I feel it more on my pinky finger than the wrists, takes some getting used to but nothing serious. As for gears, NO. Just NO. SS is the way of the future
  20. @AlanD, by no means is the Nespresso a great cup of coffee, however it beats instant coffee by miles IMO. I own a Nespresso machine, and probably have one every other day. I mix it up with the use of a french press. Taste and consistency the French takes the cake every time!! However convenience wise the Nespresso takes the prize everytime!! So for me it depends on my schedule which one I'll have. Are you still located in the UK or back in SA? UK, have a look at this post: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/food-and-drink/features/britains-30-best-coffee-shops/ SA: Loads of suppliers here so we'll need a bit more info regarding where in SA.
  21. That's nothing!! You should see him pop an nose wheelie on it!!!

My GF had hers done at DaKota Lee, brilliant work!! And if (that's a massive IF) I ever decide on getting any it will be there. Have a look at their Instagram page https://www.instagram.com/dakotalee_southafrica/
  23. Yup, both my French and English do this. Here's a link I found when it happened for the first time: http://healthypets.mercola.com/sites/healthypets/archive/2012/12/03/reverse-sneezing.aspx I find that the English doesn't give two sheyts when it happens, life just goes on. And if that means that she was busy barking at the cat next door you'll hear the most odd rendition of a snort-sneeze-bark and possibly a fart or 2. As for the French, he takes it a bit more personal, doesn't stress out but he always looks for a cuddle right after it happened. So I just stroke him gently until it stops. *Edit spelling
  24. This thread is absolutely drool worthy!! And reading the last few pages just motivated me to go get another cup for the day. What do you guys do for coffee at work? I have my own office, which I can arrange as I wish. Thinking of getting a clever dripper for the office but still considering many many options!!!
  25. The more the merrier?
