  1. could be onto something here but imagine how that place would look after an event like the argus.
  2. Personally i feel neither should be 'allowed' those cleanup crews will never get every piece of paper and plastic that gets thrown down. Is this how you generally live, I certainly don't go around throwing my litter on the floor. I dont feel it should be any different during any sort of organised event.
  3. i have done all the above and more, but i also know there is a penalty for such. And because of this i try my utmost not to do the above, and if i doyou can be 99% sure that i made an honest mistake. the accused cyclist, blatantly threw the wrapper with a fair amount of vigor, so it was not just a case of accidentally dropping it.
  4. i agree, well maybe not a ban, but some sort of penalty, be it time based or monetary who cares. people need to get over the idea that 'there are people that will clean it up' yes maybe there is a clean up team but the wind and such will distribute that rubbish all over the place, and how dedicated are these clean up teams in any case.
  5. agree totally. especially as they are the ones we see coverage of on TV etc. not that those that arent in the limelight should get away with it.
  6. haha so thats the reason
  7. Apologies, apparently it wasn't Jaco, I assumed it was him, but it was a Nuwater cyclist in the breakaway bunch. its petty, but when watching the argus coverage and seeing some of the top riders having some gels around chappies, i think it was, i was pleasantly surprised to see them putting the empty sachet in their jerseys.... even so that i made a comment to my gf about how good it was. Just moments after that we witnessed this cyclist, (part of the original breakaway 4) throwing his to the floor. seriously not necessary. pity there are always some people that do the unwanted.
  8. or if the talking BS
  9. add to the moron thread. last year i did the argus with my girlfriend. while coming up chappies in the 'social' bunch at the back end. the media and officials motorcycles pushed there way up past the cyclists on the inside, which i thought was ludacris in any case. for any of you that have been in this HUGE group there is no space and obviously a lot of people are inexperienced and also tend to panic. people swerve out the way and dont look where they are going. one chop took out the front wheel of my gf and didnt even bother to say sorry let alone see if she was okay. and starting from standstill on chappies is not fun either. Basically i feel these motorcycles shouldnt come near the cyclists, there was no major reason for them to force there way through, this clearly caused more issues, especially when everyone is suffering up chappies in a massive group. This wasnt just one bike either, was quite a few.
  10. why momentum, they have the same sort of rewards program, sounds like a pretty uneducated comment mind you. anyway. all these rewards schemes are a load of bull anyway. and shopping through them has never landed me a good deal, i can get my stuff cheaper elsewhere, and locally at that.
  11. reign always a good buy. i wouldnt discount a mongoose teocali tho, check your budget. i picked mine up for 5500 in almost new condition myself and 2 friends are on teocalis and they take a heap of abuse.
  12. keep the raw files. cant be questioned. this is a long standing thing worldwide. i had a photo 'stolen' recently by a newspaper am still awaiting the outcome. but in any case. its not all right to just take a photo off any website. not even facebook, as according to the terms of use facebook takes ownership and people would have to ask facebook for permission
  13. never fair game if your consent is not given.
  14. send them an invoice. thats what i do
  15. wristbands for non members would probably work quite well. random colours no pattern and then you keep it on while you are there. for members, not so easy, but the card seems to be the best idea, but it needs to be policed accordingly
  16. i battle sometimes with knee pain on a spinning bike. but i am using public bikes and never get the setup exact
  17. i don't see the point in there checkpoint dudes at the routes. we were there early and paid on the way out. but for all he knew we could have come straight off the road without paying and all we did was fill in details on a slip? how does this control anything. definitely something needs to be done to make sure people are paying. whats worse is on leaving and handing the guy our money he gave us a blank look. so i took the money back and went to another guy that happened to be at the gate earlier and gave him the money, he at least realised what it was for. im sure a lot of people would just drive off in this case
  18. rode giba blue this past weekend. did the jump route and low and behold as i come around the corner i came across some elderly folk on a merry stroll up the blue route i was thankfully in cruise mode as my friend had just shouted to stop for a puncture. i politely warned them that it wasn't a good idea to walk there, but they seemed pretty adamant and said they stay out the way (this after i had seen them 5 or 6 strong walking in a group in the middle of the trail.) as i said i was cruising and still ended up like this
  19. "Paul Saad, CEO of FutureLife, was inspired to develop an affordable immune-boosting energy meal for the SA market after seeing many new immune-boosting and effervescent drinks being introduced very successfully overseas. Saad realised that these products were becoming popular because of modern lifestyles in which typically our bodies' immune systems are not as strong as they should be due to the combination of increased stress levels and poor eating habits. He wanted to create something brand new that had never been done before - combining a high quality natural "food" with a powerful natural health supplement. "And so FutureLife was born - the first product to marry both food and supplements into a single nutritional source. The reason this is so important is that nutrients are far better absorbed by the body when they are taken as a food and not as a concentrated supplement," he states. Since the product Saad was producing was an immune-boosting health meal - he had to find a natural powerful immune-boosting product that had been clinically tested with published results. He chose Moducare (under licence from Aspen Pharmacare Ltd) as it is "the only clinically-tested plant sterol and sterolin product that has been shown through research to balance and improve the immune system"." from http://www.developtechnology.co.za/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=24933&Itemid=999
  20. futurelife was originally designed for 'sick' people that needed easy and complete nutrition solution as far as i recall. The benefits have obviously been shown and is now well used in sporting circles. its good stuff, i dont like it.
