managed to get there this weekend for a quick run down. good fun run, got a bit lost at first and did a fair amount of hiking couldn't get a shuttle up as everyone was too busy with the bmx track. yes some of the jumps are a little short. one of the small ski jumps almost had me in a tree, which i didn't even realize but my friend pointed this out to me, he said it was a very close call... the one section, has a long 'smooth' downhill and you come with quite a bit of speed into a slight corner that has a small table top around them bend. i was a ball hair short of binning it here as i managed to balance along the edge of the landing and maintained over some rocks and a small berm, my friend behind me was not so lucky. he came over the edge and there is a bit of concrete wall on the side which he hit and sent him flying down onto his back on some rocks. obviously next time we go we will bare this in mind but it is a bit dangerous considering the speed you come down. otherwise good fun, still lacks some markings i guess but we managed to find it eventually

im running wire bead on the rear, got them from http://www.buycycle.co.za/buyparts/tyres-mtb/kenda-en-2/kenda-slant-2.10-wirebead-26-kenda.html 159 bucks so i figured its a cheap tyre and not the end of the world if i didnt like it

im using a slant 6 2.1 for a rear tyre with nevegal 2.3 up front, all round riding. the slant 6 rolls nice and i havent had an issue with grip where i ride. i have only done about 100kms on the slant but no major wear so far. friend is running front and back and havent heard him complain yet but then again i probably look for a slight drift in the rear when im cycling. making sure the front has traction

not sure if it applies but there was also a thread here regarding the 2012 sram stuff and there was chat about chain dropping on sram fd etc. maybe have a look there and see if anyone has insight

look for when nationals is on, some of the guys come down a week in advance to practice the track. so you bound to find some talent around

hahaha i must admit, at first i blatantly dissed his choice. telling him he had listened to all the salesman drivel that he would have been force fed at the shop. after he replied telling me he was told to test the 26 and 29 inch and decided the 29er felt smoother, i had to leave him be. ah it is a sad day. its fine just to be a good friend ill take him on some tight technical decents and see how he handles the big wheels the 650b sounds good tho, and will fit (just) my forks. altho not sure on the back, maybe ill run a hybrid haha

the marshalls sometimes get otherwise when you are cruising around with a camera, being all MSA sanctioned you are supposed to pay an annual fee to get media access, but i never worry about that. there is a stepup out of the sand but will be hard to get a good angle to get the shot, its too narrow to go along side

a friend of mine has purchased..... dare i say it.... a..... 29er i need some advice, im not sure where to go from here, do i remain friends with him and try ignore the fact that he bought a 29er or do i cut ties with the riffraff and move on.... please help

im normally there on the big events. but i cant say i have ever gotten any spectacular shots. altho my equipment has grown substantially in the last year

Thanks we have a small training sand track down the coast (amanzimtoti), basically just bang a few loops and work on the fitness levels. Its on a guys farm that doesnt seem to mind us being there thanks
