  1. I mean, would you have to wear a full face in enduro or is it optional. I believe full face lids are compulsory in some european enduro races. I guess it depends how hardcore the trail is!
  2. Would you need a full face lid for enduro racing?
  3. I have a dh bike and a hardtail jump bike. The difference between the two couldn't be bigger! I would love something around 150 mm but the budget is zero! The way I see it, unless you are racing 6 inches is enough for almost any trail we have. I would rather have a 6inch bike with perfect geometry than a 8inch dh sled that's too small and with odd angles. Oh wait, that's my dh bike!
  4. Hmmm, how many 29ers and 650b bikes are advertised in mbuk? 650b is much closer to 26 than 29 in diameter...
  5. Pump the shock up to the max and set all the damping adjusters to full. That way even if it compresses the damping will only let it move really slowly. Or get a 2nd hand frame. Probably cheaper than replacing your damaged shock later when you want to go back to rear suspension after your knees give in!
  6. They won't take your pic if you are sitting down daneger!
  7. Look at Vanderham in Seasons. 78 kph over a jump! That's FAST!!!
  8. I have measured it. 45 kph on dh 3. That was as fast as I dared to go. Its scary fast on singletrack. I reckon 50 plus on the jeep track.
  9. Less rain! But seriously, it was awesome, cant wait for next year!
  10. Go to muizenberg pavillion office. I went on a saturday morning and was done in 15 minutes. Easiest thing ever!
  11. Checked the website. 4500 dollars for a frame. Nut sure if that's nz or us dollars. Not cheap, but you save on drivetrain parts:)
  12. Just rode this evening. Lots of dh riders practicing and didn't seem to be any hassles with the trail runners at all. So we can all get along. Awesome! Thanks runners.
  13. Kidding. Obviously. Probably on supercycling in a few weeks.
  14. Tracks gonna be awesome after the rain! Can't wait...
  15. I love dirt, dust , the buzz of knobblies on gravel, the feeling of flight over a decent jump, the mix of adrenalin and fear when you try something out of your comfort zone, the terror when you try something WAAAY out of your comfort zone, drifting the back wheel without using brakes, laughing when you do something stupid and end up in the fynbos, chasing your mates down and being so close that your front tyre touches his back one in the air, basically mountain biking.
  16. Hahahahahhaahahahahhaaaaa. So much stress! I though we rode mtb to get away from this crap. Well my mates and I do anyway. Always say hi to others , even if they seem too cool to be there.
  17. By “our dh trail“ I mean the track that all the dh riders have spent the last 2 years building. It wasn't always there, and if we don't maintain it ,it will dissapear. I am happy to share the trails with runners as long as they don't run up the dh track please. Not trying to be selfish but there are a couple of places, especially near the bottom, that are fairly blind corners and jumps. At full speed a rider won't be able to stop , especially in mid air, if a runner suddenly appears on the landing of the quarry jump, for example. If it does happen, I reckon a few broken bones for both parties involved would be the minimum that would happen. So its not a cases of “ we pay , you don't so bugger off!“ Its a safety issue. Thanks Noel.
  18. Just checked wind guru. Might be a spot of rain on saturday but at least it won't be a scorcher!
  19. I think he wanted a closer look, not realising the speed that we carry through there. I went beserk at him, adrenaline was pumping cos of the speed and also how close it was to being a bad accident.
  20. I nearly hit some tjop xc rider coming UP the quarry stepdown!!! And we had guys riding up the top berm below the road gap while deon was working on the track.
  21. Hey guys, any idea when the one way signage is arriving? I nearly killed a xc rider coming up the stepdown into the quarry on sunday morning. If I had been 5 seconds earlier it would have been nasty. There were guys shouting at him to move but he just carried on going up. I stopped and swore at him untill he was out of earshot but he obviously didn't give a ****.
  22. Did a full run from the start of the track to the big stepdown jump at the bottom. 4mins 6 seconds , no pedalling, and I was stuffed! By far the longest track I've ridden. Gonna be fun on race day!
  23. Yay! Look ma, I'm on tv!
