Finally got to hear the v6 turbo engine sound. Not too bad, has a nice growl to it and that beautiful smooth sound that you only get from a six or twelve cylinder. Of course nothing sounds as good as a v12 at full revs!

What if xc tracks were only 500 meters long, full of tech sections and jump/rhythm sections and the riders didnt wear lycra. Like 4x but more laps. Say 10 minute heats and a 15 minute final. Or six 30 minute heats and a 1 hour final. Top two riders from each heat go through. It could be called xc super twelve!

Hey Deon, i see that the berms on the snake trails are rapidly turning to dust and sand. Any plans to put down laterite or something? Cos i dont know if they will last the summer with the amount of riders that are enjoying them .

Medium sounds about right. Not sure about differences in the frames. If the 2008 one has the curved down tube and the shock doesnt go through the down tube then its pretty much the same as the newer one. Maybe slight geometry changes.

Just bear in mind that half the motorists have no idea how fast you can go and might cut you off when turning left and that sort of thing. Same as everywhere else really. And if you are riding in a pair you should be fine all the time. Just take a cell phone . And check the weather report. It can change very quickly in cape town and the wind can get hectic. Especially around cape point, 60 kph winds are not uncommon at all in summer.

I have an e ciggie . Its how i quit the first time. The second time i went cold turkey and this time too. I am sweating a bit but i think thats just cos its flippin warm in cape town today. So far no cravings , even sitting next to my wife while she is having a smoke

Day 2 for me of no smoking. Its the third time ive quit in 5 years. The first time i lasted over a year and the second time 8 months. It only takes one drunken night and a few drags to get hooked again. Will try avoid the same mistakes this time but you never know.

It always like this, i remember seeing snow on the mountains above stellenbosch in november about 20 years ago. But at least summer will last until the end of april

Always worth a ride

Well done Deon. The snake trails have held up beautifully! Theres a bit of a landslide at the beginning of cobra but nothing compared to the one on level 5. It seems like about 10 tons of dirt is on the road. And the road just north of the top of dh 1 is also covered in thick mud for about 20 meters. It was a fun ride though, now time to jet wash the bike!
