  1. Ahhh the hub, full of kind words and friendly advice.
  2. Was gonna bring the popcorn anyway. On the way up dh 0 this evening there were five xc guys comimg down really slowly and they were saying how awesome the trails are. Obviously having fun. That's what it's all about isn't it, having a good time with your mates. Regardlesd of what you ride or how good you think you are...
  3. Can I bring beer to the agm?
  4. So who is currently on the committee?
  5. So the comittee is gonna take over what you do now, whether you remain on it or not depends on votes.Got it.
  6. Thanks Deon I dont think that the moratorium on building is such a big deal, hell its only for two weeks. It does suck for the paid labour but maybe they can make it up with Saturday rates or some thing. Anyway all this talk has made me really wanna go and do something important. So im going for a ride in tokai later.
  7. Trillian, brilliant.
  8. So is this about right? Vince ,Duane ,Johno and Richard got together and decided that they were not happy with the state of affairs in tokai and after some discussion phoned Meurant and requested that a meeting be held during which a new comittee would be elected to take over/assist the work that Deon is currently doing.
  9. I know im asking a lot of questions here but im just a simple mtber who doesnt understand the subtle nuances of private/state collaborative business
  10. Well whos the guy in charge? Meurant , Deon Mr x? What im getting at is who is this new comittee going to be dealing with. And who is Deons boss? Who does he answer to.Because if he answers to someone then the agreived party could go to that person instead of having a comittee I mean what is this comittee going to do and who gives them the authority over tokai as opposed to anyone else who wants to build a trail
  11. So does Meurant have the ultimate say in what happens in tokai? Is this because amarider is the official trail maintenance company? And whats stopping me or anyone else from coming in and doing trail building. Not that I would but how does it work? Who put amarider in charge. Who else could be doing it? Can my company put in a tender for the maintenance ?
  12. Who called the moratorium on maintenance on the existing trails? Surely these guys could be working on vasbyt or somethinh while we wait for the AGM
  13. I wanna be a fun raiser!
  14. cant upload the photos for some reason. white morewood shova st. fox fork . american classic wheelset. stylo cranks.
  15. spotted this in epping this morning. couldnt follow the guy but he said it was his bosses bike. seemed dodgy to me
  16. It was so simple back in the day, just go and ride. None of this EMP this an rationalisation that. And people wonder why illegal trails get built. I totally umderstand that this process has to be followed for ecological and sustainability reasons, but I sure miss being 16 years old and bombing down any old piece of dirt trail I could find.
  17. Can seeds really last 100 years before growing? That is amazing.
  18. The old snake trails had trees, which makes a MASSIVE difference to how it looks and how long it lasts. If the illegal trails were not covered by trees they would be terrible by now.
  19. Haha . It's gonna be interesting to see who is nominated. Maybe we should all wear those little stickers that say "Hi, Im Jimmmy Hardtail" . Put some faces to names.
  20. So you gonna bring some pics from France then...
  21. I built some of the illegal trails, so dont nomimate me for anything please.
  22. The problem with tokai? In five years when all the trees are gone its gonna be a dust bowl unless sustainable, maintainable trails are built now. And yes maybe the dh riders are the only ones complaining at the moment but if all the trails turn into sand pits then everyone will be unhappy. So whoever ends up running the show has a lot of responsibilities in the next few years to keep tokai a viable mtb spot, never mind a world class one.
  23. if the majority are dh riders that turn up then that shows which group is most concerned about tokai. And most of the dh riders also have trail bikes and ride all the trails anyway.
  24. And I have been to numerous build days and have been supporting Deon where I felt that he was right, but also pointing out things that I thought were not working and helping when I could to make them better.
  25. I mean that the majority of people riding tokai are not involved in the actual construction and or maintenance of trails, be it at volunteer build days or whatever. And will not be at the agm either. it doesnt mean that they dont care. Just that they dont care as much as the people who take the time to get involved. This is not a hobby or recreational activity for me, it is one of the main passions in my life, second only to my wife and daughter.
