  1. ? . Of course I've ridden it! You come flying into the rock garden now, proper dh speed!
  2. Funny that, I don't recall any of the dh guys moaning about building! An all xc build day? I might come along and do a bit o` digging , after all I do ride those trails sometimes.
  3. Hey lads, is there another build day this month? I know first saturday of every month but is there one sooner? I would like to do a bit of work on the step up landing at the quarry if possible.
  4. Don't go to Lavender Hill unless you're a gangster. Don't go to Neils Wheels unless you wanna buy a stolen bike. Don't go to Fish Hoek unless you wanna get eaten by a shark. Don't ask silly questions on the hub unless you like sarcasm...
  5. Fight! Fight! Just kidding. Its all love and roses up on the trails isn't it!
  6. Why are you riding through chrisalys deon?
  7. Land both wheels together , that way the front and rear suspension are sharing the load. But you still need to take as much of the impact with your arms and legs as you can. Its a great way to destroy your frame, shocks, wheels etc...
  8. Is the thread stripped in the fork or just the axle? If its just the axle then get a new one. The 6 mm piece that's missing is what holds it all together, you won't get it tight enough without that piece. If the fork is stripped then you have other issues.
  9. So I got a pair of boxxer race forks second hand and was wondering how to make them better. I always had Marzocchi before and am used to the silky smooth travel and zero stiction. The boxxers are so sticky though that when you compress them they come up in little jerks, not smooth at all. Any tuning tips?
  10. Why are you running on the trails?
  11. Can you get highroller 2,5 tires in 650b? Do they weigh several tons? Do I care?
  12. This nishiki character sounds like a real chop. Maybe the tune would change if it was his car getting broken into or him getting hit in the face with a tree branch. When crime happens to you your sympathy for these criminals dissapears very quickly.
  13. I would have kicked the fxxxxer in the head. Twice. My bike is the most precious thing I have after my wife and daughter. I've had two stolen before. I got very angry...
  14. I was 6foot4 at 22 years of age. Still am. Still riding a 26er. Or mountain bike as I call it...
  15. Does anyone know why there were police in the tokai parking lot at 9am this morning? It looked like they were taking a statement from a rider. Any info?
  16. Let me rephrase. I will ride anywhere that cars don't. I do about 300 kms per day on the road. People can't drive , especially in my hometown, capetown.
  17. I will ride in anything. Exept the road...
  18. Its rideable cap, you just need dem skills...
  19. Fivetens are the only way to go! If you are in cape town then The Bike Shed at Contermans must be your next stop.
  20. I took my wife and 4 year old daughter to watch a dh race recently. When I came past in my race run my daughter was shouting “ daddy, daddy!“ And then started crying when I didn't stop! Luckily I came second so I got to go on the podium and get a medal. She was more exited than me! But trying to get here lo leave the forest was a nightmare... “No daddy, I wanna see more bikes!!!“.
  21. When you buy your ticket buy a map too. Its about R20? But will help a lot. You can't really get lost in tokai if you follow the signage. Stay off the roads marked no cycling (on your left on the way up) from the parking lot follow the gravel road up untill you get to above the tree line. This is the highest point that you can get to. If you keep on the road look for trails on your right heading down. They are all signposted at the entrance. Dh is rough, snaketrails are easier. To get back to the carpark just head downhill. You will always end up at the right place eventually. There are always people riding up there so just ask for directions. And if you go down dh3 check the jumps first! Some are blind and not at all rollable, especially the BIG ones at the bottom! Enjoy!!!
  22. Shhh, don't tell anyone, but if you put a cheap sram cassette and chain on your bike no one can tell the difference. They cost a quarter of the high end stuff and last almost as long. Shifting is almost as smooth and if you just CLEAN YOUR BIKE! after every ride you'll be smiling.
  23. Knowledge is power! In 20 odd years I've only taken my bike to a mechanic once, and it was my brother. I've built up a decent workshop of tools over the years and fix everything myself, to the point of servicing my own shocks and welding up cracked frames.
  24. First time I went to Bridge it was still Bridge Superette. You could buy your bread , milk, dog food and a new Bmx tire all at the same time. Now they have literally hundreds of bikes in there but its still corner cafe service.
  25. Btw, how much does a new Izimu frame cost?
