  1. No probs woz just funni that we kan hide our edookashon on the hub and appear kwite fik sometymes....apparently :-) Anyway JB has appeared and given some great advice so everyone's sorted.
  2. We did! The follow-up point to tbe 'built-in redundancy' argument, is that it leaves room for new competitors so market forces should close those gaps.
  3. Your assumption is that the manufacturers are not producing the best possible product and that amateurs can improve on it. If you're not an engineer or metalurgist, i wouldnt get into it.

Yeah but at those temperatures they retracted up behind their kidneys.

  6. That's what they all said
  7. Stupid, stupid first post from 'a friend' of the actual protagonist. Never thought i could be made sympathetic to Neil's Wheels. People are on this forum for years talking about everything under the sun; then OP shows up with this non-story wanting us to get all 'pitchforks and torches' on behalf of his naive mate. Sorry for the mate - suggest he goes down tbe shop and makes a fuss.
  8. Quite right - but (ahhh how"s this for a crafty get-out) i got a free entry for that one, so no spend. .....got free entry for Macsteel too come to think of it.
  9. Emperors Macsteel Bela Bela x2 Kremetart Carousel Transbaviaans 3 weekends away so far this year, looks pretty modest. But i have spent far more on bike services than car services this year.
  10. Ok so the cast iron excuses so far....... I'm mountaineering Amashova / other bike events are on Got to fix the blinds in the lounge Pet duties No money No fitness i'm allergic to grass (ok, i made that one up) Any more? And i'm taking the pic down - it didnt help and its a frightening size.
  11. Yeah but it turns out on that clunky piece of **** it didnt make too much difference. Was pleased to find the tap on the end of the Camelbak hose after 5yrs of ownership & 2yrs of drippy legs.
  12. I'm new to this whole internet dating thing, but if you think it will help...........
  13. Aww shucks - thanks ..... There's a long list of those that cant make it, with the best excuse so far ".....I'd love to but i'm climbing Everest". Sheesh the lengths people will go to, to avoid me - maybe i need to wash the kit more often.
  14. Hi I am keen to take HappyMartin's entry for the Berg and Bush Descent, 11th-13th October, but need a partner. The entry is R8k for a team of two and it involves 2 nights camping, can be separate tents. I'm fit having trained and done Transbaviaans but not the fastest, being big and middle-aged. Please PM me.
  15. Sounds familiar and could just be a case of modern living. If its inconvenient to you, you will have to play around with diet, rest and stress management to get a better balance. Talk to someone who knows - i'm just filling in time watching a dull football match.
  16. I got Corolla'd a couple of weeks back, and once I was Prado'd - maybe its a Toyota thing.
  17. Ecobound facebook page has got some official ones up from JM and they're very classy
  18. Good time to have installed some ventilation now that summer is coming.
  19. You sure you not got someone's in a jar someplace, gran?
  20. Nope - i think your "balls to the walls" covers most of the important points, except..... how many R's do you make per hot-dog before paint and petrol?
  21. Sounds good - but is the 56kms part of the 101km route or something different? And would be good to catch up with you nsBB
  22. Thanks for all of that - sounds fine, with limited opportunities for serious injury. I agree nsBB the clock-out/clock-in is a nice gimmick.
  23. Yes I did do a search, but didnt come up with much. Quite fancy the idea of going to "gay Parys" and doing the 101kms or similar. The only thing that would stop me would be if there were bottlenecks and queuing en-route. Any other info much appreciated - and i did see a thread where one of the women riders get knocked off by an impala a couple of years back on this one. So - is it a good event?
  24. Train heavy, race light. Training on a mtb for a mtb event cant always happen on dirt. Mtb is safer on urban routes. Sometimes its what i want to do. Tyre expense - who cares? Lycra - who cares?
