  1. Nah, we need it to start in Bedfordview - it would go down a bomb in Bedfordview
  2. It's easy, just turn right when you get to Witkoppen, everybody does it.
  3. pps thought this thread was actually a cry for help from somene lost at Modders - would be strange, I know, but not impossible.
  4. How do we know you lost all those things and dont just want us to hand you everything we find there so you can start a 2nd-hand shop? ps I lost.....cash, yeah definitely cash - had Mandela's face on it
  5. Yes there is, on the general conservation / for-the-good-of-the-park, side of things. They're not wild about cyclists though.
  6. Is it ok (magazine) WP if I turn up the heat (magazine) as a sign of the times (newspaper) and say "O" (magazine and TV channel), people (magazine) need to ...............relax and read something soothing.
  7. Seems what they were doing was more than fine, if they were in the yellow lane - though you are not supposed to cycle there, technically. They arent impeding road traffic and you have no right to insist on riding in the yellow lane.
  8. It's crap, in more ways than one.
  9. Why are you on statins if you dont have high cholesterol? Untreated, mine sits around 7 & I react badly to statins, but not cramps, so i dont take them. Statins are really effective in lowering cholesterol, so it's a problem that a significant minority have side-effects from them. I wouldnt call it a conspiracy, by any means.
  10. The economics of the rag trade is a scary subject - cost to retail are massive mark-ups with plenty of players and pitfalls in-between. Just to say - Woolworths and Amashova selling T-shirts are effectively two different products & both organizations will be making their money; and each has different risks. You want the shirt at the price, then buy. Or buy one from WW and one from 'shova and average your cost down.
  11. Saw you were doing several, and they're a bit more serious riders than the average? Can see how being rigid with the rules is frustrating.
  12. I wonder what it looks like when you are blowing your own trumpet then.
  13. We've got an issue at work where the wrong set of docs were sent & the result is a loss of USD36k. The person responsible made a mistake but couldnt foresee that kind of loss. She just gets judged on making the mistake, especially as it's a one-off. The court has the same type of problem, a taxi turning across oncoming traffic - is it careless, is it reckless, is it homicidal. It must happen 1,000s of times a day with minor consequences, but this time the consequences were huge. Determining the level of guilt and the right sentence is a difficult job, and has to fit into a consistent pattern to have any legitimacy.
  14. No sarcasm involved (which is unusual for me), and apology accepted. Better luck with your future purchases.
  15. I'd say your general unpleasantness makes that a bit of a fail then.
  16. Nasty, inaccurate thread title from a first-poster bitching about a supplier. Its going to have to be a pretty impressive story to get sympathy from that start, and it isnt. You want the savings of international internet buying, you've got to accept the limitations. "... their posted weight was less than the product's website claimed" - err that would be a good thing, wouldnt it?
  17. The re-seeding hasnt been a fiasco, it seems to have worked pretty well. They gave me XX I showed my results on their qualifying events They phoned me to say I'm now in R There's no charge. I couldve sent in other results to get a J or K but its not worth the R150 they would want for that. I've always liked the organization of this event, I havent seen anything better, especially considering the huge no.s involved in 94.7.
  18. I got xx ; but i think its cuz the seeding lady likes me Waiting for re-seeding, they took no account of my times in qualifying events, so have a collection of toys ready to throw if they want to rush me R150 for the privilege.

  20. I think you did well with that buy - esp tubeless; happy pedalling.
  21. From the rats in the basement, to the sharks in the penthouse - it's not that far. (Kirsty McColl)

    Amashova 2013

Yes, the wind does tend to get up more there as the morning progresses, so its easier, earlier. Having said that, they prolly still would have beaten you B)
  23. +/-160 dnfs, around 20% of the field. Maybe not a record but very high.
