  1. I'm sure its an admin glitch rather than a Dr Evil plan to thwart your fun-ridng ambitions. I did a late entry this morning and they were happy for me to pick any group i wanted "plenty of space" they said. Suggest you give them a bell.
  2. I rode with you at Bela Bela - you'll be more than fine.
  3. To give a response to the question asked: Tyre pressure makes a huge difference to your ride; too hard, you get bounced off, too soft, the bike drags and is more prone to flats. At your weight on tubes i would start at 2.3-2.5 and see how it feels. 2 is going to be too low and 3 too high, unless you're on tar. If you go tubeless you can take it down towards 2 or lower, depending on feel. Google it for more advice.
  4. stockists or sockists? There's an outdoors shop (indoors) @ sandton city up the newer end that socks these stocks. Drifters
  5. See Fanie Fiets link re: RLVs I tried to work it out but couldnt, though i didnt give it a full go. It is much more fun & it is supported - but you need advanced, not basic. I had the old green interface so had to change that too. The cheapest way i found was an upgrade kit from CWC that gives you the interface + tts4 basic. I then downloaded tts4 advanced from their website for another 80 euros.
  6. It wasn't fair because "everyone was doing it" - some riders weren't favooured to be on the dope program and many more were kept out of the top level. Better to declare those years null and void. Why reward criminals?
  7. Too right, cuz you were going to need bigger capitals and I dont know if they make them that large.
  8. Agree with Tjokkits re: 1,2 and 3 - its problematic and now, unsupported. I was a bit aggrieved to have to move to 4 because 2 didnt work on Windows 7 64bit and, and, and....... But Tacx 4 is much more user-friendly software, & more fun; but you need a much higher spec machine for it. Suggest you contact Jade at Coolheat in Modderfontein - he's pretty helpful and they are the distributors for Tacx in SA.,

    Cricket......

Got to be concerning that there's no bowlers in the line-up that would particularly bother a decent batsman. Some of that Sri Lankan spin tonight was audacious.
  10. Nice brag - now go do your tour.
  11. MadM - there's another group goes from there that is fast but its not the Bedfordview club who are quite normal-paced. The club goes at weekends.
  12. There's a friendly club goes out from Bedfordview Virgin Active; Germistoon. Wheelers are also close(ish) down at Victoria Lake. Otherwise pm. Happy Martin if he doesn't come on here - he's in your area and rides extensively. Then Tony Impeys at the Bedford Centre will help with info. Apart from that, nothin - sorry.
  13. Like he said - +1
  14. Congrats folks - and, err this thread is useless without pics!
  15. Stick with "Royal baby" - also a good name for a stripper
  16. Tis steep - & the mealy-mouthed statistic "R2.50 per rider per km" made me smile and remember another one. Heinz beans used to say "penny for penny, more protein than beef". (leaving out that you'd have to eat a bathful to get the same hit as a steak). Lies, damn lies and statistics.
  17. Anyone got an idea of how much water is around the route so far? Seems like no floods like last year. Predictions?
  18. I would look at it that you are putting one over on them if you can work a great deal for yourself this way. But dont worry about being conflicted, give it a few days and they will have caught up with the exchange rates on their old stock. No price differential, no conflict.
  19. Rapid weight loss tends to be short-term & can be unhealthy. I found that looking for all the sugar in my diet and cutting it down reduced food cravings and gave me more energy - and i lost some kgs.
  20. I think i will go with that over the Hub. There are plenty of intelligent people questioning what the pharmaceutical companies are doing that curb the abuses. But, by and large, those companies come up with products that work - otherwise they wouldnt be where they are. Definitely the gps didnt tell me of statin side-effects - which i thought was pretty bad, but my pharmacist did. Its imperfect but its the best we've got.
  21. The Hub is not a good place to get medical advice. For what its worth, I've got hypocholesterolemia & react badly to statins. That means that my cholesterol sits around 8, but can vary within a range of 7-10 depending whether i'm being a good boy or not. From Prof Raal, the country's leading authority on the subject, 60% of people with this condition have a heart attack by the age of 41. This is enough to concentrate my mind that cholesterol is a significant factor in atherosclerosis and heart attacks. Statins significantly reduce cholesterol but often give other problems. To anyone with a concern with this - do your own research thoroughly and only use the info on this thread just to stimulate your thoughts on the subject.
  22. 10 pages on a shop that hasnt opened - is this good marketing by Gooner101; or just a bore?
