  1. My last old helmet was stolen by someone who couldn't afford one. So I rate I did my part.
  2. This is what happens when you give your head a nice hard whack. Never mind being hit by a car. HELMETS!!! http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=89c_1349733188
  3. Why? ANC voters are already brain dead. Nothing there to protect.
  4. Exactly. Seems the law only applies to the middleclass.
  5. KILL IT WITH FIRE!
  6. Has been posted before a few times, but nice video none the less.
  7. And if you got AM Classic rims, you just use the superlight rimstrip they give, it basically just covers the spoke holes.
  8. Looks like some self righteous **** moderated the thread. Way to go. You would have fitted in well with Hitler's Stasi police.
  9. Years ago when I was much younger and inexperienced, I was riding with some road cycling mates. Back then I didn't have my own road bike so I was limited to slicks. We were training time trials (on a MTB, yeah I know). Going past the Altona cafe in Greenbushes in PE I was head down giving it gas. Everyone knows its impossible to keep your head up the whole time especially if you are trying to get a bit aero. So you look down for two seconds, then up for 5, repeat. When I looked up, a lady had come from the front and pulled into the cafe parking lot, or she was in the process of doing it. I stuck my front wheel into her car just behind the rear wheel. The impact ripped her rear bumper off. My front wheel was written off and suspension fork also snapped into a few pieces. Her excuse... didn't see me. Which soon changed to "he swerved infront of me" (funny how that works if I took her REAR bumber off). Bike came to a complete standstill and I went over the boot. So yeah, things happen very quickly. Look down for 1-2 seconds and everything around you changes.
  10. And who is going to enforce that law? I'm thinking of the multitude of commuters. Isn't it a law to use a helmet when you ride? Have yet to see the average oke that comes out of the township with a helmet on.
  11. Well, from what I can tell from what I heard, I'm going to tell myself he probably felt no pain. Whether he saw it coming or not, at the point of impact there was no-one home anymore.
  12. I think if Burry was aware of what was going on he easily could have scrubbed half his speed off. 50 to 25 in a second or so. Which is why I think he was head down.
  13. I got a feeling he might have been looking down for just that second.
  14. Some people are wondering if he even had cancer to begin with, or whether it was the beginning of the big lie.
  15. Media statement on the TaylorChic page on FaceBook.
  16. Don't have a "relatively competitive" one spare. Have an old school Look spare. I am 6'1". Hope you come right.
  17. What you need and for how long?
  18. Just over a day old and already this thread is slowing down. Unavoidable, I know. Goes to show, it matters not who you are or what you did with your time that you were given, in time everyone is forgotten and faded from memory. Man does not fear death. Man fears not being remembered after dying. In time everyone is forgotten.
  19. That happened a week or two or three ago.
  20. One of my favorite songs, and in this case most fitting. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zlkNvEeUok
  21. If I have the story straight, it happened on this corner. Burry was going in direction that the camera is facing which is down a bit of a hill, and the taxi was coming from the front, much like the red car in the photo. If I look at the gradient of the hill that Burry was coming down, I'm guessing he easily could have reached over 50km/h. If the taxi turned into Stott street at the last moment and Burry hit the brakes as hard as he could, he still would have hit it over 40km/h. That's still a major impact. RIP Hero. http://s9.postimage.org/g2r5srumn/Untitled.jpg
  22. I get that this thread split into to conversations. One being selling something for something its not, and the other one stealing intellectual property. So, going with the latter, surely Kelloggs built up the reputation of "Corn Flakes", which PnP has launched its own product off? PnP wasn't first to the sheft with its product, and its based 100% on the Kellogs product?
  23. So if I buy any of Pick 'n Pay's No-Name Brand products, I'm stealing? Will Kellogs take me to court if I put a box of Corn Flakes into my trolley, seeing they are the "famous corn flake" brand? Just wondering.
  24. As utterly gutted as I am, the sad truth is that nothing will come of this. Yes, we will organise a massive rememberance ride, maybe even more Critical Mass rides will be put together, but while we are clad in lycra and Sipho who never went to school is behind a 2 ton metal ramming-rod on wheels, we will always pull on the short end. Taking the fight to government won't do anything, they will just pull their shoulders up and give you a "hau" and that will be it. I can't suggest a solution because I don't know of any. I really feel for Cherise. SACF have given her so many raw deals lately with not including her in teams, and now to lose her husband as well. I wouldn't blame her if she turns her back on cycling completely after this.
  25. My brain is refusing to process this.
