Was riding a 48x16 on my 26er SS. 165mm cranks made it interesting.

Don't waste money on a R6k SID. The Reba's of today have the same technology as last year's SIDs, and weight only TWO GRAMS more than a SID. So you can get away with a +/- R4k Reba RL rather.

With 30K, and if you were willing to put some effort into it, you can import your own full carbon frame, and gets bits here and there like from TheHub, CRC, CWC, etc, which is what I did. My 29'er cost me +/- R20k, and it kitted out like a R35k bike (off the shelf, "popular brand" bike). Weighs about 10kg. Haven't weighted it yet, might actually be lower.

Back in the day, I used to do it PROPERLY, every time. Used to take an entire day. Even involved rebuilding the pulley wheels.

Hot water, Handy Andy dish washing soap with a sponge. Afterwards, Mr. Min with a soft cloth. Chainrings, small plastic container with petrol and an old paint brush. Cassette, petrol paint brush and then "flossed" with a rag, chain with petrol in chain cleaner.

Well seeing that snake is properly wedged in there, you will have to get very hands on to get it out. In short, the bike shall be left behind like a comrade in war!

Plenty other riders owned up the last week or two without being caught. And more often than not, when you speed you don't know it untill the camera flashes. He has known for a long time and kept quiet.

I'm feeling very sorry for guys that kitted themselved out in the whole LiveStrong kit, got the helmet, shoes, the whole package. ****, it must feel like riding around with egg on your face. I wouldn't be caught dead wearing anything from USPS, Radioshack, or Livestrong branded kit.

I must say that right now I'm pretty disgusted with DG and to be honest cycling as well. Back in the day everyone raced on Energade and Game and that was all that was out there. Today its a fcking pill for this, a powder for that, all this BULLSH1T that is being forced on us that promise to make you better and faster. As long as its a big container with a recognisable logo and promises of greatness printed on the label, hell, pass me my wallet, ne! Dopers are killing the sport, but with that, I personally am now sommer disgusted with everyone out there that has a full cupboard at home with bottles of protein powders, recovery shakes, high-end low GI sports drinks, pills to help with cramps, creatine, pills to replace this and that, etc etc. "Legal doping". Some of the young guys on the scene these days have legs that CANNOT just come from training, impossible. Mate of mine used to be Junior Springbok cyclist (and rode on local Pro teams) but never looked like the youngsters of today. Don't tell me its just from training. And here I am training and racing the young bucks, with my bottles filled with Oros and Game. Fsck the dopers, kick them out with lifetime bans, but with all the "legal doping" out there - cycling has for a LONG TIME not been a "level playing field" sport. Its not about physical talent anymore, its about who's got the most money to throw at it to buy whatever it takes.

I'll admit that I am suspicious of all highly pigmented individuals, on a bike that you can SEE does not fit the person/clothing, etc. Or on a bike that you can see was given a coat of black paint with a brush.

Slightly dodge... No-one sells a bike with all those accessories on...
