  1. I have no idea why I skipped 3 "Trans's". In my "prime", late 20's, I go and skip three of them back to back. Idiot. Could have had my 2nd "trophy" as well by now.
  2. Good points really. Wouldn't ride getting lights at Komdomo only, its at least mostly downhill and flat to that point so taking that at Bergplaas isn't too much of a schlep. Quick surprised at how many guys took their lights at CP3 already - and then lugged them up the hill. We only needed to use lights maybe the last 5-10km before Komdomo. I pack a "snack pack" for each dropbox. At the finish on Sunday when collecting your stuff, I took 2 full packs home. So I just took 1 new snack pack. So you are right with taking too much food. You should be able to just grab a quick Coke and roosterbrood and be on the road in 1-2 minutes. Enough sugar and calories.
  3. I just wish I could follow my own advice regarding the food but I step into the same trap every year - even though my food wasn't that outlandish. Ate a few Salti-Crax for the salt content, small pack of jellybabies, raisins and peanuts. Still, I had to have my traditional purge on top of Bergplaas. Also felt better after that. I think it probably comes down to that food, PLUS liters of energy drink in your stomach. I think if you eat decently, water only should be fine. Our actual riding time was 10:44, and the time at the finish was 12:26. So even though you think you are hustling it at the checkpoints, like we thought we did, you still spend over a hour and a half faffing...
  4. Got mine 2 years ago. 3 more to go and I get my 2nd.
  5. 12:26 for our mixer team. My training didn't work out for the 2nd part of the year and with a trip overseas, and being sick twice. So just took it with no pressure. Ride it and enjoy.
  6. The description if misleading as well... Weight 415g (160mm Rotor; front post mount) 1) A product shouldn't include specs and descriptions for parts that isn't even part of the product if you ask me. 2) Regarding Janos' mail where he says " If you look at any of our other disc brake sets for sale you will also see that no disc brake sets are sold with rotors unless it states “rotors included”, I don't really agree with that. What he said might be true, but you can't expect someone who wants Product X, to first read the descriptions for Products A through W to check what's included or not? 3) The brakes is listed under "Complete Disc Brakesets", which in my mind tells me its everything I need to slow my bike down. So that's misleading as well. Apart from that I have had good service from Evobikes. Hope everyone turns out happy at the end.
  7. http://www.evobikes.co.za/components/brakes/complete-disc-brakesets/avid-elixir-1-disc-brake-set-white.html If its those brakes, the picture shows rotors. You get what's in the picture.
  8. Geoff Kabush uses 3 bolts per rotor. If it lasts for him I'm sure I'll be fine. But ja, I would go criss/cross 1 ti, 1 steel, 1 ti, 1 steel. Three of each per rotor.
  9. Buy a pack of 6 and just use a Ti bolt every 2nd one. So 3 Ti, 3 steel per wheel. Just to be sure. That being said, for a long time I only used 3 bolts per rotor, never had a problem, and that was on AM Classic hubs as well.
  10. fand, I bought a 20 pack like that once a few years ago. Obviously with 10000 sellers, there are lots of different makes of battery etc. Moer cheap, but those batteries weren't great hey. Didn't last very long. But still, even with the negative they still offer a lot more bang for your buck compared to buying locally.
  11. Thought it was a tool to measure how low your balls hang.
  12. Ouch.
  13. Typically, but not always. I was in Std.5 in 1993, and back then already there were a few black kids in my primary school. He is 7 years younger than I am, which means in 1993 he started his schooling career just when the political winds shifted. I'm guessing he had a upbringing from young child to adult not too different to what the average white kid had. Granted that he went to school, obviously. If he was living on the streets, got a job and rode a municipal bike to pick up litter and then started wining races on a borrowed Hanson road bike, that's a different story altogether. I am really hoping this isn't just window dressing.

  15. All helmets have to adhere to certain standards otherwise they would never be allowed onto the market. So, the cheap and the expensive lids should protect you just about the same. Difference is weight and aerodynamics, but that in itself is maybe a case of 50 grams, and a slightly less aerodynamic design. But ja, unless you are a TdF time trial rider, the whatever helmet you use won't slow you down. What it REALLY comes down to, is that you pay for looks.
  16. Gooi weg. Het vir jou ander. Stuur my jou adres.
  17. Daai een van my of Liz se ou hemde? Moet wees.
  18. Sy juk om weer te ry, sal dalk nog so week wag voor sy weer begin. Chicken Pox, op haar ou dag. Kan jy glo.
  19. Danie, next time wanneer julle Baai toe kom bring jou bike saam, sal jou wys hoe mens nie crash nie
  20. An awesome era of MTBing. The Wonder Years as such. Sad though that most guys on these forums dont recognise half those names. Or, that TheRitz himself was a top 3 Junior XC/DH rider those years. When you used to race both disciplines on the same 2" front suspension bike.
  21. 95% the same. I wear Large anatomic, and Large Monton. Find the Chinese clothes are sliiiiiiiiightly more snug. Not a problem though.
  22. I've bought everything from frames, bike parts, clothes, solar battery chargers to cellphones off Alibaba/AliExpress. No problems anytime. No matter how big the parcel, levies have never been over R200, sometimes as low as R18. The Chinese are in the habit of declaring things as being cheaper as what they are - without you asking for it. Levies are less on your side then. Guess that's incentive to buy from them again - from their perspective. Shipping. DHL is the best but is expensive. We always use EMS. But that's a shot in the dark. Once with EMS my carbon frame arrived in a week. Recently my wife got a cellphone over AliExpress. Purchased 18 June. It JUST arrived in town today. Almost two months. Another mate's frame went missing for almost 4 months. Turned up through. So EMS can be fast or slow. Just depends who's working the counter on the day at the airport I guess. Buy from a seller with a good rating and one that's been in business for a while and you can't go wrong.
  23. So I stand a chance then. Will always be hard for someone that plays by the "rules" to beat someone that's just going medieval.
  24. Can ad though that this bike hasn't seen sunlight in a long time. The owner does kick-boxing and that kind now. So if you don't give him his price, you run the risk of getting moer'd
