  2. I get pretty darn sweaty. Pig on steroids - not quite. I think I am pretty much on par with the other guys on the sweat-o-meter!
  3. So glad to hear that I am not the only 40 year old out there with a "higher" than all your mates heart rate. My mates make fun of my high average heart rate - who needs enemies???? Had it checked by cardiologist, he said I'm fine as long as the recovery rate remains good so I just keep on pedalling. One advantage is that I tend to warm up faster than most of the other guys - dunno whether the heart rate has anything to do with that.
  4. I buy from Evobikes all the time. Great service and fair prices. Janos is always happy to listen to me yack on the phone for 15 minutes to get his input on parts, etc. Never complains and always friendly. Big thumbs up from me.
  5. Really battling to those red fox decalls on the site? Could they be sold out? Nooooooo
  6. So will this fit in below GX? Seems to be getting quite complicated - XX1, XO1, 1X, GX, NX? Is that right?
  7. WL all the way - I have them on my Tallboy and my wife has them on her Trance. Easy to work on - light at the price, beautiful to look at and best of all the wider rim really does make a difference (didn't believe it myself until I tried it). Also, most of the time the AC's come complete with all the adapters you'll need for any wheel set up.
  8. Thanks guys, here is an extract from the scamadvisor report Nonky listed. Site is only 11 months old and virtually no social media traffic. Glad to say I will be giving this one a miss. The owner of the website is using a service to hide their identity http://www.scamadviser.com/images/note_alert.pngThis website is 316 Days old http://www.scamadviser.com/images/note_alert.pngThe website expected life (365 days) is relatively short. Analysis Details:- Although this website appears to be based in United States there are other countries involved and you should review this information carefully and decide if it is as you expect.Although being a new website, does not make it un-trustworthy, as with any new business you should be extra vigilant and do your own research before placing an order or making an investment. This site is using an anonymous service - which prevents us from identifying the site owner. This can sometimes be just so that the owner does not receive spam, but be aware that many scam sites use this as a method to hide their identify. If this is an ecommerce site - we would suggest you confirm the business address with the website owners. The website has been newly registered with a short life expectancy, which follows the pattern used by many fraudulent and fake selling websites. Please be vigilant and take extra care before providing any payment information.
  9. Thanks Shaper - appreciate the effort!! Bastards!!!
  10. I have come across a website at www.bellsbikeonline.com. Prices are in Rands but telephone numbers are for the UK. Seemed strange so I contacted their helpdesk. They claim to have a warehouse in SA, but operate out of the UK. They also have really good prices on, for example, a Cannondale Rusk 1 29er, 2014 model (R16.5k). I called them and they say I can pay, amongst others, via Paypal. This price is about R6k cheaper than anything I have come across in SA, which has me wondering, is this too good to be true? Has anyone ever used them and did you get what you paid for?
  11. Speaking of scams - has anyone ever come across this crowd - https://www.bellsbikeonline.com I am looking for a bike for my wife and they are selling a Cannondale Rush 1 (2014 model), new for R16.5k! Seems really cheap. According to the online help they are based in the UK but have a warehouse in SA - therefore no shipping costs. Hmmmm... I am all for a good deal but I am hesitant to press the pay button. Any experience with them?
  12. I changed my Ghost Lector from a 3x10 to a 2x10. Best conversion ever. I spend less time changing gears and feel much more comfortable with the ratios. I also run a full XT set up. I changed the cranks (didn't know you could do it by just adapting the chain rings). XT shifters have a small screw under the shifter which makes it easy to convert to 2x10. I did have to change the front derailleur as well though - which was a pain in the ass! Go for it - just do it!
  13. gonna be muddy. been raining in harties all day. stick to the mountains.
  14. Thanks guys, called Evolution and they gave me the number of a guy - Dave. Called him and waiting for a reply. Appreciate the help.
  15. Thanks Markdeep, if all else fails I will do just that. Have also submitted a "please call me" on the Evolution website. No telephone number on the site unfortunately.
  16. Does anyone know if Emotion Cycles still exists? They are the guys who used to bring in Volcan bikes and, from what I have been able to find on the internet, form part of Evolution Cycles (Raleigh). Funny thing is their website is down and the phone number is no longer in service. All of this just as the rear triangle (carbon) snapped on my Volcan FS2. If anyone has a new number of contact details I would seriously appreciate it! Alternatively, if they have died and gone to LBS heaven, does anyone know of a good carbon repair man (or woman) in the Pretoria area.
  17. Had Avid Elixir's - liked them. Have XT - luv them. No contest!
  18. I used to ride with a Gobi. Loved it like many others in this thread. Decided to try a Tundra 2 cause I was a little uncomfortable on the Gobi when doing steep climbs. Took a bit of getting used to, but now I won't change the Tundra for anything. Rode my old bike this weekend, with the Gobi on. It felt terrible. Guess it comes down to personal choice and a lot of trial and error. I have also tried Selle Royal and WTB but nothing to write home about.

  20. D batch - I'll take that. Really looking forward to the River section. Will they be including the Dragon's Back section of the River route in the race? Rode it this weekend and it is HAIRY!!
  21. So then c'mon Omnico, Shimano, Sram, Spez, etc. - explain to us what to look for when buying so that we know how to avoid the counterfeits. I appreciate that you cannot spill all the beans, but one or two pointers would be very helpful!
