  1. I just had a look at a advertisement in the classifieds for a Giant with some very expensive Fox fork on it. Anyway when I looked at the ratings for the seller I noticed that the seller gave him/herself a positive rating. Surely this should not be allowed.
  2. I would phone the guys in Woodmead, I have seen adopters that you just put on the axle. Rouxtjie is right about the IPad version of the software, it just works very well. I saw yesterday that quite a significant upgrade on the app is also imminent.
  3. I am on a Tallboy and I am going to change to a 32 (from current 34) for Wines2Whales. While I can climb mostly anything on 34, W2W has got a few steeper and longer hills than my normal backyard.
  4. There is no issue with doing it on a hardtail. If your body is used to it and you train on a hardtail you should be fine. Is a dual more comfortable? Absolutely! I have ridden both on stage races and I am on a dual now, there is a huge difference in comfort, especially after 2 days.
  5. +1. I have dealt with both these gents and I have to agree, the service has always been exceptional.
  6. I don't know much about them, but if I am not mistaken this is the bike Johann Rabie used to win Joberg2C with.
  7. First an introduction. I have been on LCHF for the last 3 weeks. I am already seeing a lot of positives, more energy, weight loss and better sleep. I have always eaten very little carbs with no rice, pasta and very little bread so transition was not very hard. The challenge was mostly in upping the fat and avoiding Easter eggs! Now for asking some help. I stay in Morningside, can anybody point me towards a place where I can get no-carb flour, flaxseed, coconut and almond? I really enjoy this topic, I alway find good advice here.
  8. Off topic. What is trials like? How much mud is left?
  9. Has anybody ridden at Modderfontein lately. I want to go for a ride on Tuesday morning. What is the conditions like, the mud mostly?
  10. Just find the right bottle cage. I use a Elite on my seat post and never lose a bottle.
  11. WK No not the same. WKO 4 has not been launched. I did find that TP Now have a lot of the functionality that is in WKO 3. I will not be renewing my WKO 3 license. Hopefully WKO 4 is incrementally better. The launch date keeps on moving though.
  12. TrainingPeaks is web based. Download agent works perfectly on my Mac. The new version is quite good.
  13. I use my Tallboy LTC for marathon and did Epic on it. It has got 140 mm travel. My XL weighs 12kg. No issues at all. Go for it
  14. What fork is that and where did you get it? Looks very nice.
  15. Does anyone have the distance and gradient of Rusty Gate, Epic stage 5? Epic website says 5 km at an average of 10%.
  16. I have done both 2013 and 2014 events. (I crashed out in 2012 with concussion). Most people wants to know which was easier. I cut 6 hours off last years time and ended about 100 places better on GC. Was this year easier? Or was I just better prepared? This year it was wet, muddy and windy with no extreme heat. This year the supposedly easier days was made very hard by the elements. Last year we had 40 degree heat on some of the easy days. Was it easier? I honestly don't know, beyond a certain point it is just hard. I was a lot better prepared this year, both from a physical and mental perspective. My December, January and February training was really spot on. I knew what to expect and was mentally ready for the hard days. I did enjoy this year a lot more and I think it was because we were never under any cut off pressures and we were lucky with mechanicals and punctures. I am going to take a break from Epic for a year or two but I will go back to go and get my Amabubesi medal.
  17. Yes ordered mine. You pay with your credit card. I took the lot and it was R1206 on my payment advice.
  18. 100% agreed. I think we have more than enough very, very talented riders. More small teams will definitely help. Being a pro cyclist in this country is a very hard job even when you are very good.
  19. Don't underestimate Johan Rabie. In his short mtb career he has had some very good results thus far. We will see how he goes over 8 days but I am sure riders of his caliber has done it before and knows how to handle it.
  20. Last year stage 1 had quite a bit of walking because of the sand. Otherwise there is very few places where you have to walk. Mostly where it is so steep that walking is as fast as riding or everybody else is walking and it is impossible to ride. I walked a little on all stages last year, but really very little except stage 1, which there don't seem to be an equivalent of this year.
  21. I ride a 2013 Santa Cruz. Racing Ralph Snakeskin front and back. XTR pedals. To late to change now but it is not a bad idea to ride the same pedals as your partner. Should something happen and one bike needs to be pushed or carried you can always take turns.
  22. Last year we had a rule, which we luckily did not have to consider: we will start each stage, if we bail it can only be at the first water point. Once you are there you have loosened up and you are in to it again.
  23. I can not post the link but it is between 9 and 2 on the Saturday at the Waterfront. Both members to be there. Link is under riders/registered riders/pre planning
  24. It is rated out of category. It will physically be very hard and mentally even harder. It will be the best thing you have ever done and maybe the hardest as well. Don't over analyze it, take it from day to day. Once you are through day 4 it actually becomes easier, I think your mind and body has by then accepted that it is going to be punished and starts to adapt.
  25. Don't worry about the weather, it will be what it will be. Be prepared though for rain, heat, wind and cold.
