  1. What sort of distance can you ride at this lodge?
  2. OK....let me explain myself. Which 96er frame is R28 000 as you get the carbon 5000-D or the carbon 3500-D or the HFS 3000-D and HFS 1000-D
  3. Which 96 model retails for R28 000
  4. LOL...could be...have broken the news to the missus already about a new purchase now just need to find something I can afford.
  5. After the SabieX and the big rain and mud my bike is broken proper. The gear shifter does not work anymore, will have to replace gear cables and more brake pads. I think my bottom bracketr is also shot and thats just after a quick check. This got me thinking that the bike shops must do some healthy business after such races and how much we all spend repairing our bikes after racing in the mud. How much have you spent on repairs after racing in the mud?
  6. Leaving 9am on Friday form Jhb...staying in some guesthouse in Sabie. See you all on route
  7. Nice of you to say hello ...... Sorry BigBen.....could not make out the logo on your leg until I saw it on your image then I knew what it was. WIll know for next time ;-)
  8. LOL....I would not call it secret training. Doing the SabieX later this year for the first time so thought I would scout out the terrain. What an awesome place to ride. I will definitely be going back to conquer some more of those mountains. How are things with you?
  9. I was there...rode behind you for a while....what an awesome weekend of riding it was
  10. I can't believe Fox does not have a service department in Jhb for services. I have send my fork to CT for this.....in my eyes this is unexceptable. I'm am now without a bike for more than a week. I'm sure there is enough business in Jhb to warrant somebody here to service them. I'm really pi$$ed as now I'm missing the crater cruise
  11. Do this route often, you can extend it to 85km and 102km if you like
  12. Awesome saddle...got one just before the Epic and was a dream to ride on.
  13. Does anybody know who I can go to for ITB problems. I picked up the problem during the Epic and even though I rested after when ever I do long rides it comes back. Not sure if I need to stretch more or it is something to do with bike setup although I did have a professional setup done before the Epic
  14. We rode in different shirts....my partner had the 29" Gary Fisher if that helps
  15. Yip...rode with you guys once or twice
  16. I've done about 2500km since Nov on my crossmarks with no problem. My rear one is looking rather slick now though. What sort of km are you guys getting on a set? My front crossmark is fine.
  17. Cool..will give it a try...it is better to apply it to your skin or chamois itself?
  18. Where can you get this Mark 2...keen to give it a bash
  19. Phones not connected yet as far as I know and they are just a little further down Rivonia towards the highway on the right. Maybe about 1 or 2 km's from old shop
  20. How much of the ride was on tar?
  21. A comfortable saddle is important but I'm more interested in finding a saddle on which I don't chafe or get saddle sores. I'm currently looking at the Gobi or one of the Sella Italia SLR saddles.
  22. I'm also in the market for a new saddle. I currently have the Selle Italia Trans am gel but find that on the longer rides 5 hrs + I seem to chafe alot even with anti chafe cream. I'm not sure but I think that maybe the saddle has to much cushion in it. The problem I face is how do I know what saddle is best for me and my a$$. I'm not aware of any bike shops that have demo models that you can tryout for a week or so and then if you like it buy it. How did everybody else go about getting the correct saddle? Thanks Paul
  23. Yes..guys it's on a MTB riding with guys doing SabieX this weekend so LSR = Long Slow Ride. I training for the EPIC so Slow Long is good. But that is not my question
  24. I'm currently using the Polar training program and have a question. Lets say you have a 13 hour training week and you allocated 2:30 to one morning ride as I did this morning. I download the session from the watch and all of a sudden something struck me. Have a look at the following As the polar spreadsheet specifies I should be training in the 116 - 143 HR zone so if you look at the above I only spent 1:32 in the actual zone the rest was below. Does this mean I only take the 1:32 as real training? I believe it is. Can anybody give any advise on this. Do I recalculate say on a Friday and then determine that I'm an extra X hours behind and try and catch up on the weekend above the normal training. Thanks Paul paul.hunter2007-12-12 04:09:49
  25. Thanks all for your comments. I have finished all the races but the cramps are a real pain "no pun intended ;-)" especially when the guys I train with don't experience any problems.
