  1. Am busy turning this old Peugeot into a Singlespeed. Bike has dark blue rims so will probably go with a matt black fame and blue colour scheme.
  2. think he rode mtb and ITT for Kenya at the commonwealth games.
  3. Does anyone know who the local distributor for Tange headsets is? http://www.tangeseiki.com
  4. I'm in the process of building a singlespeed (old Peugeot) and want to upgrade the bottom bracket. The bottom bracket I'm looking at using is this one: http://www.chainreac...x?ModelID=71369 I also hope to make use of my existing Shimano FC-1050 square tapered cranks. If you look at the pic you will see that the existing spindle takes a nut as opposed to a bolt to hold the crank on. The length of the spindle at the edge of the taper is approx 116mm. Should I go for a 115mm spindle or another length and will my cranks fit on this BB ?
  5. What is all the fuss about ? Most cyclists probably do somewhere between 10 & 20 events a year. Everyone is throwing their toys out of the cot for a R75-00 licence and R6-00 per event...so for someone who rides 20 events a year that would be an extra R195.00 per year, come on people...R195.00...really, most of you probably spend that at the bar buying a round without even blinking or if you don't drink, ask yourself this. As a percentage of your cycling related spend annually (whether it be spares or clothing) what does it work out to? Everyone can still join the PPA (Club) and ride all their events and the PPA can still continue with the good work they undoubtedly do.
  6. For MTB events held on private property this is probably possible. The only concern for an event organiser is that they abide but the recent legislation regarding hosting of an event and obtaining the necessary insurance. With respect to Road events which are held on public roads you will probably find CSA putting pressure on municipalities not to approve the race as it has not been sanctioned.
  7. SASCOC is the Olympic body in SA and they have said that Cycling SA is the statuary body for cycling. One cannot expect the IOC to be dealing with multiple bodies from the same country.....what a mess that would be.
  8. We don't know all the ins and outs of what really happening (Polictics, Power Struggles, Money) but from the outside, What is the fuss about ? 1)PPA become a club within Western Province Cycling etc 2)When PPA club members renew their membership they are charged an additional R75.00 for an annual cyclosport licence, or the full amount if they want a racing licence (Provincial selection etc). 3)PPA select a few of their club members to become an accredited commissionaire thereby negating the fee. 4)PPA continue to hold their club races, because that is what they are (no seeding or timing if you are not a PPA member = club in my book) and increase the entry fee by R6.00 to cover the affiliation costs. 5)Western Province Cycling and the clubs hold a forum to establish a sliding scale with regards to calendar fees. 6)All Argus cyclists who do not hold a CSA license (Cyclosport, Racing etc) are charged R35-00 above their normal entry fee. Only riders with racing licences get seeded in VA; VB ; VC ; # '% $ etc. All cyclosport riders are seeded from A down and temp licences are seeded after cyclosport riders. PPA members can always garner support and stand to be elected onto the board of the Western Province Cycling by the clubs. Who says PPA still can't do their charity and other work to improve the conditions and facilities for cyclists. It seems to me that possibly PPA should be negotiating with Western Province Cycling and not CSA.
  9. In running any event 10km and over needs to be sanctioned. So all "fun runs" are essentially shorter than 10km. Once you go above that distance you need to be selling temp licenses to all who do not have a licence. Maybe cycling could be similar, say 25km and under then it can be deemed a "fun ride" ?
  10. And to get road closure and permission from metro police etc you will need to have a sanctioned race. I would imagine that it's quite easy for CSA to F^ck PPA over should they really want to.
  11. Apparently, it's a Specialised SRAM S-1250 crankset.....is it self extracting? Do I just undo the 10mm hex (anti-clockwise) ? anyone ?
  12. Folks, What is the correct procedure to remove a Specialised SRAM S-1250 BB30 crank? All the manuals suggest I remove the NDS first with a 10mm hex. Problem is that the crankset I have does not have a hex fitting on the NDS but only on the DS (10mm). There is a 2mm hex screw on plastic lock ring, I guess, on the inside of the NDS crank.
  13. now that is a sh1tty start !
  14. now for some cabernet induced sleep.
  15. when they put the drip on 80ml/hr and the paed tells you that she would not of survived another 48 hours without a drip you tend to be more cautious with the 2nd one.
  16. I hear you...think I will buy myself a lottery ticket this coming weekend.
  17. 1) So my year starts off with a hangover - my own fault. 2) my eldest daughter spends two nights in hospital with gastro. 3) my other daughter is currently spending her 2nd night in hospital with gastro. 4) three armed affirmative action shoppers decided to relieve me of my Corsa bakkie this evening. and 2013 is only 9 days old !
  18. 1) slightly disturbed....would heavy rain/wind be enough to slightly disturb and set the alarm off ? 2) where can you buy these ?
  19. So what you are saying is that if you are fired from your job for misconduct that you should not be employable, by anyone, ever again ? He has been fired and has a two year restraint of trade. He is also unlikely to gain future employment in the same field again so effectively has a life time restrain of trade...how much worse can it be ?
  20. go pro 3 ?
  21. Where will you be staying? If you are anywhere near Mt Splendour pop in and have a chat to Iain Don-Wauchop. He owns the place and often takes out rides. He usually rides on a time basis, say 2-3 hours, distance covered will depend on the speed of the group. I don't know of anyway, other than a drive around to cross over to the Northern Berg.
  22. It's quite simple. Cyclists are not allowed on roads where these signs are displayed. The freeway signs should be on all freeway on-ramps.
