  1. Soda ash blasting is an option. If you can find someone who does it. They often use it with vintage cars as it is surface friendly.

  4. Karin, contact the guys at concept cyclery (031 7621416). There is a cross country track off Inanda rd between Hillcrest and Waterfall. They often organise a Wednesday afternoon ride there, around 4pm.
  5. or create a chicken run at all the technical points (read scary) and say that there are chicken and bull run options. i would hazard a guess and say that most people are afraid of falling and hurting themselves so a technical climb might not be judged technical because they would probably walk it anyway. it's the steep downhill/drop offs and rocks (especially rocks) that make people nervous & cautious.
  6. its about volume of sales. In motorbikes the R&D costs are spread across 10's of thousands of units sold where in bicycles the number of unis sold is probably in the low thousands.

  9. He has a point, but not on a race such as the Argus where everyone is doing the same distance. The issue arises mainly when, like at the Amashova where there is a half distance race, the front batches (Elite, U23, VA-VD and even A) catch the back of these "Fun Riders". When you catch them in the last few km and the speed of the peloton is ramping up and there are fun riders that are weaving across the road it become quite scary. For every ones safety the organisers should ask back markers of these shorter distances to please be aware that they may be caught by the front groups of the main race and that it would be in their and every ones best interests to keep left where possible.
  10. Dude, building fitness with a 1x11 will not be easy. Suggest you go 2x10 and convert, if necessary, to 1x11 when you're strong enough.
  11. well done to your pops for partaking but it's the same as Comrades. The gun goes off and it doesn't matter if you're 1 second or 1 hour late, you're late, so you get a DNF.
  12. Lots of variables here as it would also depend on what sort of training you are doing with your running. You already mention running intervals and it seems that you are basically looking to squeeze cycling sessions around running sessions. You will also need ample recovery time between interval sessions. What running sessions are you currently doing?
  13. I hope it does but with only approx 4 months until race day one would think that they would have an updated website and possibly even be taking entries.
  14. anyone remember Arsenal captain Tony Adams dropping Steve Morrow whilst celebrating their League Cup Final win - Steve Morrow broke his arm and was rushed off to hospital without getting his winners medal.
  15. Does anyone have any knowledge as to whether this series is happening again in 2014?

  22. The info I have is that the event is apparently being shortened to 7 days and the route no longer goes to underberg. It is planned to go through Nottingham Rd towards Cascades and then will follow the Dusi2C route.
