  1. Actually the designer, or at least one of them. Resides in Cape Town and on an unrelated note is related to Nic Dawes from Mail & Guardian. Go figure eh
  2. http://www.axis-bikes.com/dealers .. .Best of luck man
  3. Isn't Delta a leash free area though? .... Some riders could definitely do with a bit more etiquette on the Spruit and surrounding parks. Nothing justifies this "He dropped his bike after approaching her and threatened to #uch her up." He needs a pump in the front wheel! Respect is a two way thing though, generally overall I think everyone acknowledges the other.
  4. I have one, it did the Epic and originally the plan was to sell it soon after and keep a portion of the cash. Ended up keeping it since I'm enjoying it more and more, very happy with it, she descends like a monster. No shortcuts on part spec quality and it's a quality frame, triple butted 6061 ally.
  5. Here's an idea.... https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum/user/32304-victor-van-gaalen/ Have never had an issue myself and this is the first I've heard of anything like this at all. Knowing Eric and co at vG I'm sure they'd nip this in the bud.
  6. GEORGE, EVANS DEDICATE STAGE WIN TO LOST FRIEND 04-May-2012 Supplied by TreadMag from Tread Magazine Kevin Evans and David George of Nedbank 360Life enjoyed a bittersweet triumph on the penultimate day of the Old Mutual joBerg2c as they dedicated their fifth stage win on Friday to the memory of friend and former national team cyclist Juan van Heerden, who passed away on Thursday. http://www.treadmag....aspx?niid=13612
  7. Not at all, it's tragic and incredibly sad, that's all there is to it. For family and friends we can only keep them in our thoughts, terribly tough time for them.
  8. Or wiser still to have read the thread through and take note of the original requests which answer what you've quoted. For condolence and have decency instead of harping on like a snooping busybody! Forum or not has eff all to do with it.
  9. Yeah, Ugandan guy, him and his mate did Epic this year. Absolutely great guys!
  10. As has been said, airtime slots are fuggen expensive and there are bigger brands out there fighting for the prime airtime slots. Also the structuring of selling/sponsored airtime plays a huge role and that's excluding the production costs, from conceptualisation to execution. Although that cost could be cut down by using generic ads already produced, although the effectiveness of that is debatable.
  11. What's wrong with that? ... How many companies worldwide produce their products locally? Not many, but as a locally based brand they source product etc from the East like almost everyone else and employ local staff to do it, support local events and athletes. The key point is in this case it's value for money. Not sure why people feel the need to be bitchy about it generally, overall works out a win win.
  12. Before it starts been ripped apart, how about some respect first and just keep the thread for condolences. Might be old fashioned, but FFS!
  13. Classy.
  14. Are you looking at a single photographer and printing on site? Would only really be feasible with two or more snappers and someone to man the print station. Feel free to PM me and I can put you in touch with a colleague specializing in that area.
  15. Oooohhh bloody noice! I do hope Graham and Jean Luc start bringing these bad boys in!
  16. It's tough to be a Swiss pro, they probably have half a dozen riders at least who could qualify for Olympics. Florian Vogal and Nino Schurter are my bet
  17. Currently, James Reid, definitely has the vasbyt to be a contender on the world stage and he's still young. Absolutely brilliant to see the standard of local riders over recent years, all those naysayers from the early 90s that said we'd never get anywhere on the world stage of mountain biking. Where are you choppers now? Starting with Burry Stander and Greg Minnaar, we now have world class events and riders across the playing field of disciplines! Ultra/Marathon XCO Downhill Multi Stage Yeah, shove that guys!
  18. Not at all, in MBP has pig that makes oinking sounds... true story
  19. I would've stolen your wallet and shoes Speedy recovery!
  20. Duly noted
  21. Wouldn't say there are "tons" of people not finishing. This year the drop out rate was something like 12-15% which all considered is pretty low. Think that since something like the Epic has been around for a while now, people are generally better prepared than before.
  22. Interesting shop, will be sure to stop by sometime
