  1. Concept Cyclery has always been called that, as a flagship store for Spaz merch. Burry's car is more than likely earned by the salary he receives from Specialized as an international sponsor. Or just as likely, a sponsorship deal brokered with a local dealership, similar to what he did years back with a car. Mind you, none of this 'knitting circle info' is relevant to the topic is it ... A number of facts have been put down, such as duties etc... Not to mention the retarded distribution chain we sit with. Stuff docks here en route to Europe etc, however it only gets offloaded once it reaches Europe and THEN redistributed back down to SA because we fall under the European distribution network. So this adds to the problem as well, and it's not only the cycling industry that have this issue. End of the day, the retail mark up in cycling goods is minimal compared to most other retail sectors and definitely compared to other industry sectors. In fact I know some on the hub/cycling work for celluar comms/banking/finance etc ... Lets talk about your mark ups eh

Speaking of Expos, I noticed this https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=200279546743373&set=a.194870173950977.35197.194856707285657&type=1&theater
  4. Also check http://www.c21.za.org/ and www.safrea.co.za for input. Before going off half cock and invoicing, more often than not it's best to speak to the guys concerned first and then arrive at an agreement. Also be very clear in your terms of image usage when quoting for a job.
  5. Have gone with the Maxxis Ikon, so far very happy on it. Good all rounder and robust. Alternatively look at the Racing Ralphs or Geax AKA.
  6. Classic .... Anyhow, back onto the topic. Also take glutamine, started fairly recently. Finding it definitely does assist with recovery. Have mine with a protein shake after dinner. Not daily though, but on a regular basis, depending on the training. http://usn.co.za/product/core-muscle/muscle-support/pure-glutamine-25.html
  7. Funny, I thought it was about safety. Never mind fair. As you yourself mentioned about kids crossing the road, what does a hidden speed trap do? The point of trapping is to combat speeding in high risk areas, if a speed trap is hidden in a high risk spot. How does it negate the speedsters? Being visible, most people would slow down. Other traffic authorities can grasp this concept. Azi is on the money though, rolling violations need to be enforced and acted upon as well.
  8. Putting the sniping sarcastic commentary aside. It's not as cut and dry in a perfect world as that. A clear issue has been pointed out with the signage and it's placement. So passing a 120 then suddenly coming to a 60 sign is a concern no? This is before the town. A couple of places have signs up at incorrect distances and markings, this is in itself dangerous and has nothing to do with speeding, it's entrapment to generate revenue.
  9. Ya, after all, why not be equally as stupid. Actually more so.
  10. Or the normal hub sniping
  11. So so sad, a cold comfort but at least he had a last experience of cycling. RIP and much strength to fam and friends.
  12. Hard as nails those two, great to see their commitment paying off!
  13. No, what's really cool is riding what you like and not giving a f**** what others might think, including those paunchy 40/50 somethings who swapped their golf clubs for something more worthwhile (no matter the wheelsize)
  14. Far as I know the broadcasters are paid to air the content, they don't pay for TV rights. Unless it's the big 3, soccer, cricket and rugby. Of course there may be exceptions, like the status of event, sponsorships, advertising etc...

  16. There's been one in Cape Town before, or similar.

  18. Annoys the **** out of me as well, especially when they're with kids. But, it's a personal choice thing I guess, have learned to rather contain myself and not let it get to me. Although on private land like Groenies, something should definitely be said. Because those tools will end up ruining it for the rest of us, more so if/when something happens. At Groenkloof theres no excuse, there are helmets for hire as well as bikes.
  19. Also consider Roger Blewett, aka Rocket Rog, used to be the wrench for Team MTN. Based Jhb area ... 071 852 3350 roger.blewett@ryder.co.za strracing24@rocketmail.com
  20. Closer to 200 or more ...
  21. Maybe the same as posting on an internet forum about it helps?
  22. Nothing new here, the team is quite new but also has put a lot of support in a short space of time, especially when they picked up with Max. Having Jock Green and Max Knox it's probably good for him to grow and take the next step to a bigger team/sponsor, he has had some solid performances. All in all, just seems to the normal changes that come about with teams and sponsorships, like any other sport. Generally speaking, glad to see that locally the sport is looking as healthy as this, must be a lot of naysayers from the past chewing their teeth.
  23. Well I think you guys had better watch out, because while you're all talking about pigs and roadie .... world domination awaits! http://www.looklocal.co.za/looklocal/content/en/fourways/fourways-news-general?oid=5041006&sn=Detail&pid=217610&Dassies-invade-Fourways
  24. With about 12 member on that blog site, it don't look like it.
  25. I hear so, still even though I'm not a Single Speeder felt it necessary to say something to this tool! Wether or not it stays up is another thing entirely. "The rest of the world being Europe only? ... You need to remove the blindfold my friend. The single speed community and cycling as a whole is bigger than just Europe or the Americas even. What about those in Asia, Africa, Australasia etc ... Should those be excluded and expected to always carry the expense of traveling to locations in Europe only? It's ironic that you make a statement "keep on smiling - Singlespeeding is too stupid to take it too serious!" "Nothing against the official sswc that will be held by the south african crew" Which contradict your 'Fick Off' tirade. There is nothing respectful or smiling about that. The only occupy here, is to occupy your own ego. Enjoy it kid. "
