  1. Nearly took one as well, then I was distracted by the offerings of beer. Castle Draught, but hey after a ride like that, any port in a storm I say!
  2. Car shampoo, prepsol/clean green a bucket and a brush (like those for a dustpan) ... thats all you need.
  3. Had a yen for new shoes last week and decided on the Louis Garneaus, well priced, damn comfy and a stylish enough slipper. Went to four bike shops to find a size 44! Nothing, Complete Cyclist took my details and actually called back twice, left a message the first time and then got hold of me the second time. Unfortunately I was out of town and a mate's passing on his spare shoes. So will have to phone them and let them know. Still, that's service following through like that, so I'll definitely support them in the future!
  4. First Babas race and was pretty happy with my result, sooper sloopy mud... Felt like a 70km time trial!! Not my kinda course, but that's just a personal preference. Excellent organisation and vibe with everyone! Was also great to see Marissa van de Merve mixing it up with the lads, gave it proper gas!
  5. Think you mean 46deg, 42-46deg was the highest measured temp on the day. By all accounts still a scorcher!! Today's ride we measured a high of about 38deg near Kloofzicht!
  6. Intern and I also ride from his spot in Weltevreden, varying routes through roads/district roads over Witkoppen, Ruimsig, Muldersdrift then Krugersdorp Hill/Doreen and back through Helderkruin.
  7. Also never had issues with the PVM stuff, used the 32GI as well with no issues as well as FiT and USN epic. Fast fuel and the USN Active when it first came out gave me cramps when I used those. Doesn't make them a crap product, what affects me one way can affect someone else differently. We don't all have the same physiological make up.
  8. Most of the manufacturers have had failures here and there, with the demand for lighter frames and parts the risk factor is higher. Generally we can't have stuff that's lighter, stronger and cheaper.
  9. What? Don't you know us honkeys are dangerous in big groups? Had a couple muslim mates in the past who have ridden, know what you mean though, hardly ever see muslims or rather, Indian riders at events. Lens has a very active athletics club whom I see represented at nearly all the running events.
  10. +1 ... made this my update, friend of mine works as a freelance journalist saw it and might want to run with it.
  11. Either way I wouldn't be surprised, but it wouldn't be the first time that someone did that. Couple of us have experienced it before, people that drive as close as possible. Even if they were 'provoked' it doesn't justify driving like that at all! The OP has it spot on, people here just don't respect each other on the road in general.
  12. They're wrong and blatantly so, do you know who you spoke to there?
  13. Very naaaiice.... now get it dirty!
  14. We will be, with the new tolling system. On top of the fuel levy.
  15. +1, especially given the title. Having dealt with the guy before, can only say that if Momsen Designs were contacted it would be sorted out chop chop. Ridden with his products extensively and have never had an issue, as well as many other using the products without issue. Best is to let Victor sort it out for you and take the product back to the manufacturer.
  16. Yeah we do love to hate the taxi drivers, but often I've had some good experiences with. More so when out on my bike, compared to other road users in general. Anyway, nice one
  17. Not to mention that the Christmas tree is itself a Pagan symbol.
  18. I have an old RST Gila fork, it does need a service though!
  19. Momsen stuff is nice, and reasonbly priced for what it is. Still think their carbon wrap stem and carbon bar combo is one of the best!
  20. Went through Hillcrest a few years ago, didn't recognise it then. Family had a farm out that side ages ago in the valleys.
  21. Stellenbosh was madness .... mate and I were there for 98, wangled a press pass and wandered around like Billy Bunter in a sweet shop. One of of our claims to fame was being bounced from the Volvo Cannodale team area by Missy Giove. How were we to know that the catering wasn't for everyone .....
  22. Still have a few back issues somewhere of mags with Francois Gachet, Missy on the Yeti Team, Johnny T on his Raleigh with the black skin suit etc.... Must dig those up
  23. .... Classic case of jumping the gun, wonder if an apology will be forthcoming.
  24. Actually we just did a shoot with the Raleigh Nomad range of bikes. Well specced at the price www.probike.co.za should have the contact details. Alternatively if you're willing to spend a bit extra at around 7k, theres the Serfas XCR I think, which has all the features you're after.
  25. MrMIn ....
